05bbfe5074 fix: read the completions map by own property, not through the prototype
Addresses Copilot's round-17 review on #2035. A real crash, and a class the
earlier prototype work missed rather than a narrower version of it.

`toString`, `constructor` and `__proto__` are valid RFC 6570 variable names,
and `completions` starts as `{}`. So for such a name:

  completions["toString"] ?? []   =>  the prototype's FUNCTION

`??` catches only null and undefined, so that function went to Mantine's
Autocomplete as its `data`, and the field crashed on first render with
`TypeError: data.map is not a function` -- reproduced by reverting the fix
under the new test.

The earlier rounds fixed this for the *values* map, which is seeded with
every declared variable and so always has the key as an own property. The
completions map is the one name-keyed map this component reads WITHOUT
having seeded it, which is what made it the surviving instance. Both reads
now go through `Object.hasOwn` -- the render, and the stale-dropdown check
that clears a variable's options on the next keystroke.

Only the autocomplete branch could reach it, so the regression drives that
branch: completions supported, a `{toString}` template, type and submit.

npm run ci passes.

1c595e96ee fix: dedupe a repeated name in a group, and name every unmet requirement
Addresses Copilot's round-13 review on #2035. Two suppressed comments, both
real, both in the required-group work from round 7 rather than in the recent
preview rework.

1. `{a,a}` is ONE requirement named twice, but `requiredGroups` stored it as
a two-name group, so everything downstream read it as "either of these
will do". The TUI was left with a form it could not submit: its
   `length === 1` test marked `a` optional while ResourceTestModal's guard
still refused a blank. The web panel offered the useless hint
"Any one of: a, a". Names are now deduplicated within the expression --
expansion still emits both occurrences (`x://{a,a}` -> `x://1,1`), which
   RFC 6570 requires.

2. The per-field hint used `find`, so a variable in several shared groups
advertised only the first. With `{a,b}{b,c}{a,c}`, filling `b` satisfies
the first two and every visible hint then looks met while Read Resource
stays disabled on the unmet `{a,c}` -- a requirement with nothing on
   screen pointing at it.

Fields now hint every shared group they sit in. That alone is not enough,
because no per-field hint can say WHICH group is still outstanding, so
the form states it directly: "Still needed: a or c", built from the same
`unmetRequiredGroups` the submit gate uses, so the message and the button
cannot disagree. `hasRequiredValues` is no longer called here -- the
panel derives both from the one list.

npm run ci passes.

6acaff70ca fix: honor a defined-but-empty value, and announce the expansion error
Addresses Copilot's round-8 review on #2035 (one inline comment, one
suppressed). Both real.

1. RFC 6570 distinguishes an UNDEFINED variable, which omits its whole
expression, from one defined as the empty string, which expands. The
expander was calling `definedValues` on the way in, collapsing the two --
   so `x{?q}` with `{ q: "" }` gave `x` instead of `x?q=`, and there was no
way for any caller, `readResourceFromTemplate` included, to request
either that or `x;q`. Key presence is now honored, including §3.2.7's
rule that the matrix operator drops the `=` for an empty value (`x{;q}`
   -> `x;q`, while `?`/`&` keep it).

Dropping blanks is a FORM concern, so it moved to the two form
boundaries: the web panel seeds every declared variable with "" and the
TUI's ink-form returns "" for every untouched field, so neither can tell
"never touched" from "deliberately empty" -- but that is a fact about a
text input, not about the template, and it has no business deciding what
a template means for every other caller.

Six unit tests and one integration test encoded the old collapse and now
assert the corrected meaning. The prototype-collision cases get stronger
rather than weaker: a blank `{?toString}` expands to `?toString=` -- its
OWN empty value -- where the original bug expanded the inherited
   function's body.

2. The expansion error is now `role="alert"`. It can appear while typing (a
pasted value that cannot be encoded), and plain text is not announced, so
a screen-reader user met a disabled Read Resource with no stated reason.

npm run ci passes.

1ad3edd96d fix: refuse a template that cannot expand, instead of reading the raw one
Ports the two behaviors PR #2033 (the parallel attempt at #1919, now closed
as a duplicate) got right and this branch did not.

1. An expression declaring no variable is a malformed template, not one
with a member to skip. RFC 6570 requires at least one varspec per
expression and admits no empty member, so `{}`, `{,}`, `{a,}`, `{?}`
and `{*}` (an explode modifier is not a name) now make the template
invalid. Skipping them was the more dangerous reading: `x://{}`
expanded to `x://` while the form rendered no inputs, so its
"everything required is filled" check was vacuously true and it
submitted a URI that is not the template the server published.

2. The read is withheld when expansion fails. `expandUriTemplate`'s
raw-template fallback exists for the preview, which runs during render
-- but the submit path used it too, so an invalid template was read
with its braces intact and the server answered with a confusing "not
found" for a defect that is not the user's. `tryExpandUriTemplate`
returns the URI or the reason as a value the caller cannot mistake for
one; the panel gates Read Resource on it and prints the reason.
This also covers a value that cannot be encoded -- an unpaired
surrogate has no UTF-8 encoding, so `encodeURIComponent` throws
`URIError` on it, and a text input can hold one via paste.

`requiredGroups` now skips an expression naming no variable: an empty
group can never be satisfied, so it would gate the form a second time on
a condition nothing can meet, and the "any one of" hint built from it
would name no fields. The accurate reason is the malformed template,
which the expansion gate reports.

npm run ci passes.

935113d1e0 fix: encode per RFC 3986, and derive the TUI form from the shared parser
Addresses Copilot's round-4 review on #2035 — again reported as "no new
comments" while carrying three suppressed ones. All three reproduced.

1. The TUI form still named its fields from the SDK. `uriTemplateToForm`
read `UriTemplate.variableNames`, which mangles a name: `{;id}` yields
";id" and `{id:3}` yields "id:3". The form therefore submitted
`{ ";id": "7" }` while the shared expander looked up `id`, found
nothing, and dropped the expression — the value vanished silently.

This is the finding that mattered most, because it falsified the claim
this change is built on. Moving the expander into core only makes the
clients agree if each client's FORM derives its names from the same
parser: a form submits under the names it rendered. The TUI now reads
`templateVariables`, and the SDK template is constructed only to
validate, preserving the existing malformed-template diagnostic.

Its `required` flag comes from `requiredGroups`, and only a variable
that is the sole member of a non-omittable expression is marked: ink-
form cannot express "any one of these", so marking every member of
`{a,b}` required would refuse input the expander accepts.

2. `encodeURIComponent` is not RFC 3986's unreserved set — it leaves the
sub-delims !'()* bare, which RFC 6570 requires encoded for every
   operator except + and #.

Fixing that settled a design question left open in the previous round.
With two encoders, the SAME value encoded differently depending on
whether its expression happened to carry a modifier, since only the
modifier pushed it onto our path. So delegation is gone entirely: one
expander, one set of rules. The SDK's `UriTemplate` is still
constructed, but only to validate a template.

3. The "Any one of: a, b" hint could contradict the disabled submit
button. A name can sit in a singleton required group AND a shared one
(`x://{a}/{a,b}`), where the singleton demands that exact field. The
hint is suppressed in that case.

e7d1246c86 fix(core): scope requiredness to expressions, and encode + / # per RFC 6570
Addresses Copilot's round-3 review on #2035. It again reported "no new
comments" while carrying two suppressed ones; both reproduced.

1. Requiredness could not live on a variable at all. Deduplication kept the
first occurrence's group, so in `x{?a}{?b}{a,b}` both names ended up
required with singleton groups and the form demanded both -- while the
SDK expands that template with only `a` to "x?a=11". Widening the stored
group would not have been enough either: in `{a,b}{a,c}`, filling `b` and
`c` satisfies both expressions, which no per-variable flag can express.

So requiredness is now returned per expression by `requiredGroups`, and
`hasRequiredValues` asks that each group be satisfied by any one of its
names. `TemplateVariable.groupNames` is gone rather than left as a field
that quietly means something narrower than it reads; `required` remains,
documented as driving the "Optional" marker and nothing else.

2. `encodeURI` is not the allow-reserved encoder `+` and `#` call for. It
escapes `[` and `]`, which are reserved and must survive, and it escapes
`%`, so an already-encoded value is double-encoded. Measured:
   "[::1]" -> "%5B::1%5D" and "%2F" -> "%252F". Both corrupt the URI rather
   than merely over-escaping it -- an IPv6 literal or a pre-encoded path
reaches the server altered, which is the same class of defect #1919 is
   about.

Added an RFC 6570 3.2.1 encoder that preserves reserved characters and
existing pct-triplets, splitting on `%XX` so a lone `%` is still encoded
to `%25`, and matching with the `u` flag so an astral character is
encoded whole. `+` and `#` expressions are now taken over even for a
single name, so both expansion paths agree on what those operators mean.

25c3ad272e fix(core): support ; and :length, and scope requiredness to the expression
Addresses Copilot's round-2 review on #2035. It reported "no new comments"
but carried three *suppressed* ones; all three reproduced against the
pinned SDK.

1. The `;` path-parameter operator is absent from the SDK's operator list,
so `{;id}` parsed as a variable literally named ";id" and expanded to
nothing. Added the operator and its named expansion (`;a=1;b=2`).

2. An RFC 6570 prefix modifier was folded into the variable name: `{id:3}`
yielded a variable called "id:3" and expanded to nothing. Varspecs are
now parsed properly and the value truncated before encoding. Truncation
is by code point, since `String.prototype.slice` counts UTF-16 units and
would split an astral character into a lone surrogate.

For both of these the wrong URI is the lesser problem: a form has to
*name* the variables it asks the user to fill, so the panel was
rendering fields labelled `;id` and `id:3` that nobody could use.

3. Requiredness was applied per variable, but it is a property of the
*expression*: RFC 6570 drops undefined names from a multi-name
expression, so `{a,b}` with only `a` filled expands to `a`'s value --
the SDK does this too. The panel was refusing input the expander would
have accepted. `hasRequiredValues` now encodes "any one name in a
required group suffices", and such a field reads "Any one of: a, b"
rather than falsely claiming each is mandatory.

Two structural consequences, each pinned by a test:

- Takeover is now per TEMPLATE rather than per expression. Splicing
corrected fragments into a template the SDK re-expands would leave its
cross-expression `?`-to-`&` rewrite blind to the fragments already
  resolved.

- Expansion is split into a strict variant that throws and a lenient one
that returns the raw template. `readResourceFromTemplate` wraps the
thrown error with the template name -- three pre-existing integration
tests assert that -- while the form must not throw on a server-supplied
template, since that would take out the panel on render. The strict
variant constructs the SDK template unconditionally, because that
construction is what validates syntax: otherwise `x://{;a}{b,c` would
take the own-expansion path and its unclosed tail would pass as literal
  text with nothing objecting.

83658db2dd fix(web): expand resource templates per RFC 6570
The Resources screen discovered and substituted template variables with a
bare `/\{(\w+)\}/g` regex, which is wrong two ways: it cannot see an
expression carrying an operator, so `foobar://events{?topic}` rendered no
input at all; and it splices the raw value in, so a `/`, `?`, `#`, `%`,
space or non-ASCII character in a simple `{topic}` landed unencoded and
changed the URI's structure -- `foo/bar` produced an extra path segment
that a conforming matcher rejects with `-32602 Resource not found`.

Delegate expansion to the SDK's `UriTemplate`, the same implementation
`InspectorClient.readResourceFromTemplate` (and so the TUI) already
expands through, so the two clients cannot disagree about what a template
means. The new `utils/uriTemplate` supplies only what that class does
not: which variables to render an input for, which of them a read cannot
proceed without, and a partially-expanded preview.

Required-ness follows the operator. Under `?`, `&`, `.` or `/` the whole
expression is omitted when the variable is undefined, so those fields are
marked Optional and reading with them blank is a legitimate request for
the unfiltered resource; under `""`, `+` or `#` the variable sits mid-URI,
so it stays required. Blank fields are dropped before expanding so an
untouched optional field reads as undefined rather than as the empty
string, which would expand to a valueless `?topic=`.

Adds the `rfc6570_templates` preset and a `rfc6570-templates-http.json`
showcase server serving the two templates from the issue.

chore(deps): migrate to eslint 10 to clear the brace-expansion DoS advisory (#1900)
* chore(deps): migrate to eslint 10 to clear the brace-expansion DoS advisory (#1838)

eslint 9 pulled `minimatch@3` → `brace-expansion@1.1.16`, which carries
GHSA-mh99-v99m-4gvg (high, DoS via unbounded expansion length). It appeared in
all five lockfiles — the root plus each of the four clients, none of which is an
npm workspace, so all five had to move together.

Deferred from the pre-2.0.0 sweep because it is dev-scope, not attacker-
controlled, and a major bump across five packages was the wrong thing to attempt
immediately before an irreversible publish. This is that work.

## What moved

- `eslint` `^9.39.4/5` → `^10.8.0` and `@eslint/js` → `^10.0.1`, in all five
  manifests.
- `eslint-plugin-react-hooks` `^7.0.1` → `^7.1.1` in web and tui. Required, not
cosmetic: 7.0.1's peer range stops at `^9.0.0`, so installing it alongside
  eslint 10 fails `ERESOLVE`.
- Everything else already declared eslint 10 support and stayed put:
  `typescript-eslint@^8.56.1` (`^8.57 || ^9 || ^10`),
  `eslint-plugin-react-refresh@^0.5.2` (`^9 || ^10`),
  `eslint-plugin-storybook@^10.2.19` (`>=8`).

## Config migration

None was needed. All five configs were already flat (`eslint.config.js` with
`defineConfig`/`globalIgnores` from `eslint/config`), which is the format v10
keeps and the only one it still supports. The root config's `core/` and shared-
surface blocks — including the `_`-prefix `argsIgnorePattern` /
`varsIgnorePattern` / `caughtErrorsIgnorePattern` — are unchanged and still gate
`lint:core` and `lint:shared`.

No rule was disabled, downgraded, or scoped away to make the new eslint pass.
v10 surfaced 21 real violations across three rules; all 21 are fixed in the code.

### `preserve-caught-error` (new in `eslint:recommended`) — 15 sites

A `throw new Error(msg)` inside a `catch` silently drops the original error.
Each now passes `{ cause }`, so the underlying failure survives into the chain.
Messages are unchanged, so nothing that asserts on them moves. 12 in `core/`,
2 in `clients/cli`, 1 in `test-servers/src`.

### `no-useless-assignment` (new in `eslint:recommended`) — 2 sites

`clients/cli/src/cli.ts`'s `optionArgs` and `test-servers/src/test-server-oauth`
's `valid` were initialized and then unconditionally overwritten on every path.
Both are now declared without the dead initializer; TypeScript's definite-
assignment analysis covers the remaining paths.

### `react-hooks/set-state-in-effect` — 8 sites (web)

These were false negatives the plugin fixed in 7.1.0, not a rule we newly opted
into: `set-state-in-effect` has been `error` in `flat/recommended` since 7.0.1,
and the web config has always extended it. Every one was the same anti-pattern —
resetting or re-syncing local state from a prop inside a `useEffect`, which
paints the stale value for one frame and then renders again to correct it.

All eight now use a new `useValueChange(value, onChange)` hook
(`clients/web/src/hooks/useValueChange.ts`), which is React's documented
"adjusting state during render": compare against the previous render's value
with `Object.is` and call back *during* render, so React discards the
in-progress output before it reaches the DOM.

- `MrtrConversation`, `ProtocolEntry`, `TaskCard` — mirror `isListExpanded`.
- `NetworkEntry` — same mirror, plus the "Reveal in Network" force-open. The
reveal's rAF scroll stays an effect (real external-system work); only the
`setIsExpanded(true)` moved. `isExpanded` is now seeded from
  `isListExpanded || revealed`, since a render-time sync fires on change and so
cannot cover an entry that mounts already revealed.
- `PromptArgumentsForm`, `ResourceTemplatePanel` — reset on template/prompt
  switch.
- `ServerConfigModal` — reset on open. Keyed on `opened ? initial : undefined`,
which collapses "opened flipped" and "initial changed while open" into one
value; `initial` is already memoized, so it cannot thrash.

`useValueChange` has its own test file, and `ServerConfigModal` gains an
open→edit→close→reopen test (the close leg was previously untested, which is
what left the new guard uncovered).

## Advisory delta

`npm audit`, per package, before → after:

| Package | before | after |
| ------------------- | -------------------------- | -------------------------- |
| root | 9 (1 low, 6 mod, 2 high) | 8 (1 low, 6 mod, 1 high) |
| `clients/web` | 19 (3 low, 6 mod, 6 high, 4 crit) | 17 (3 low, 6 mod, 4 high, 4 crit) |
| `clients/cli` | 6 (2 low, 4 high) | 4 (2 low, 2 high) |
| `clients/tui` | 4 (1 low, 3 high) | 2 (1 low, 1 high) |
| `clients/launcher` | 3 (3 high) | 1 (1 high) |

`brace-expansion` is gone from all five — `eslint@10` resolves `minimatch@10` →
`brace-expansion@5.0.9`. Dropping `@eslint/eslintrc` (removed in v10) also took
`js-yaml` with it, clearing GHSA-52cp-r559-cp3m (high) from all four clients as
a bonus. The remainder are unrelated and tracked separately.

`npm run ci` passes end to end — validate, the per-file ≥90 coverage gate, the
build gate, all five smokes (including `smoke:tui`, run locally on a real TTY),
and 462 Storybook tests.

Also documents the effect rule in AGENTS.md and mirrors it into
`.github/copilot-instructions.md`, since it is now something a reviewer cites.

* docs: state useValueChange's referential-stability requirement (#1838)

Copilot review on #1900: the hook compares with `Object.is`, so an object or
array literal rebuilt in the component body compares unequal every render.
Because the callback is what updates state, that is not merely a wasted render —
it is an infinite loop.

Every current caller passes a primitive (`boolean`, `string`) or an already-
memoized value, so nothing changes behaviorally. But the hazard was implicit,
and the next caller is the one it would bite.

Documented on the hook itself, and one clause added to the AGENTS.md rule with
its mirror in `.github/copilot-instructions.md`. No runtime guard: the
requirement is the same one a `useEffect` dependency array carries, and here the
failure is loud and immediate rather than silent.

`npm run ci` passes.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01YAt8rqxysNbhYWLhoRm3fU

* fix(cli): stop asserting the --tool-args-json catch binding is an Error (#1838)

Copilot review round 2 on #1900: the `--tool-args-json` parse handler formatted
its message with `(e as Error).message`. A `catch` binding is `unknown`, so that
cast is an assertion rather than a check — a thrown non-Error would render
`--tool-args-json is not valid JSON: undefined`, which points the user at
nothing.

`JSON.parse` does only throw `SyntaxError` today, so this is not a live bug. But
the cast is the kind AGENTS.md asks us not to leave unjustified, the same
handler was already being touched here to add `{ cause: e }`, and every other
site in this PR uses the guarded form. Now it does too.

`npm run ci` passes.

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01YAt8rqxysNbhYWLhoRm3fU

Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs: require useValueChange's onChange to be render-pure (#1838)

Copilot review round 3 on #1900: `onChange` is called during render, so it is
bound by render-phase purity — and the web client mounts under `StrictMode`,
which deliberately double-renders in development. A callback doing anything
external would run an unpredictable number of times, and concurrent React can
abandon an in-progress render entirely.

Every current caller already passes a callback that only calls `setState`, so
nothing changes. But "runs during render" is the whole point of the hook and the
constraint that follows from it was left implicit.

Stated on the hook, with the same clause in the AGENTS.md rule and its
`.github/copilot-instructions.md` mirror. All three now point at `NetworkEntry`
as the worked example of the split: the reveal's force-open is a state update
and lives in `useValueChange`, while its `requestAnimationFrame` scroll stays a
`useEffect`.

`npm run ci` passes.

19a6df7ad3 SDK v2 migration (behavior-neutral, versionNegotiation: 'legacy') (#1624)
Migrate all three clients + core + test-servers from
@modelcontextprotocol/sdk@1.29 to SDK v2 (2.0.0-beta.4), keeping behavior
identical against legacy (2025-11-25) servers. Foundation for the SDK V2 +
New Spec stack.

Packages
- Split @modelcontextprotocol/sdk -> @modelcontextprotocol/client (Client,
  transports, OAuth, error taxonomy, protocol types) + core (Zod schemas);
  stdio -> client/stdio, Ajv -> client/validators/ajv. Test-servers ->
  @modelcontextprotocol/server (+ server-legacy/sse). Deterministic import
rewrite (schemas -> core, everything else -> client); the codemod misroutes
client code to /server so it was not used for path routing.
- new Client(..., { versionNegotiation: { mode: 'legacy' } }) — nothing
  2026-era goes on the wire.

Runtime (core/mcp/inspectorClient.ts)
- Error taxonomy: McpError -> ProtocolError, ErrorCode -> ProtocolErrorCode;
  RequestTimeout -> SdkError/SdkErrorCode.
- Handlers take method strings; task methods (tasks/*, notifications/tasks/*)
use the 3-arg custom form (excluded from v2's spec-method set).
- Legacy tasks kept working (per project requirement): requestor tasks re-
  implemented over raw client.request + explicit deprecated schemas;
experimental.tasks.callToolStream replaced by a local pollTaskToolCall
async generator (with _progressHandlers revival so task-execution progress
still reaches the caller). Receiver (server-initiated) tasks: the v2 Client
  validates a sampling/elicit handler result and rejects the legacy { task }
response with -32602 — installReceiverTaskResponseBypass swaps the wrapped
entry in the private _requestHandlers map for the task-augmented branch so
  { task } reaches the wire (fixes server-initiated sampling-via-task).
- Pagination: list verbs use raw client.request({method}, List*ResultSchema)
  for single-page behavior (v2's client.listX() auto-aggregate all pages).

Web / auth / apps
- Rename local JsonSchemaType -> InspectorFormSchema + add toFormSchema()
structural narrowing at the SDK-schema -> form boundary.
- ext-apps still peers on SDK v1: one compat boundary with documented casts
  (remove when ext-apps#702 lands a v2 peer).
- OAuth provider saveClientInformation reconciled with v2's
  OAuthClientInformationContext; InvalidClientMetadataError re-homed as a
local class (server-legacy/auth is not browser-safe).
- vitest.shared.mts dedupes @modelcontextprotocol/client+core to one copy so
  vi.mock intercepts the SUT's import.

Accepted v2 behavior changes (per #1624 / spec §9.2): unknown-tool call
rejects with -32602; cancellation is stream-abort (no guaranteed
notifications/cancelled frame); output-schema strictness restored via the
Inspector's own Ajv check on the default path.

npm run ci green: validate (web 3087 / cli 212 / tui 274 / launcher 5),
coverage (>=90 per-file, all clients), smoke (launcher/cli/web), storybook

web: Accessibility — accessible palette + WCAG AA contrast, labels, names, roles (#1679)
* web: accessible light/dark color palette + dark-mode legibility fixes (#1678)

Ports the design system's accessible palette. Colors are defined once as Mantine
color tuples in theme.ts (shade 0 lightest → 9 darkest); every `--inspector-*`
token in App.css references `--mantine-color-*`, so improving the tuples cascades
through the whole UI.

- theme.ts: full accessible tuple set (inspector/gray/dark/green/red/yellow/blue/
teal/violet), WCAG-AA at the primary shades. Tuples are the one place literal
hex belongs — the token source. Primary stays inspector-7 (light) / -8 (dark).
- theme/ActionIcon.ts: default `color: "gray"` so chrome icons (settings, theme
toggle, sidebar, pin, sort, replay) render neutral grey instead of inheriting
the blue primary. Icons that set their own color/variant still override.
- App.css: fix light surfaces (`surface-body` gray-0, `surface-card` white — the
  body token pointed at near-black dark-9); add direction/method badge tokens;
lift the semantic status/log/task/history colors 1–2 steps in the dark scheme
(the shared `*-6` shade sat too dark on charcoal). Light `:root` keeps `*-6`.
- Badges: MessageDirectionBadge + new MethodBadge element driven by
`--inspector-badge-*` tokens (deep fill + light text in dark, tinted in light)
via Mantine `bg`/`c` style props with `autoContrast={false}`; swaps
  `<Badge color="dark">{method}</Badge>` in ProtocolEntry/NetworkEntry (their
Badge import stays — both still use it for status/category chips). Stories +
test added for MethodBadge (≥90 coverage gate).

Domain badge semantics live in the element components, not theme files. No raw
hex outside the tuples; no inline styles. Supersedes the reverted #1677.

* web: WCAG AA accessibility pass — contrast, labels, names, roles (#1678)

Drives the axe-core ruleset (the engine behind Storybook's a11y addon) to
zero violations across all stories in light and dark mode.

Contrast (805 → 0 hits):
- Darken Mantine `*-light-color` + `dimmed` in light mode (and lift dark
`dimmed`) via `!important` App.css overrides — Mantine injects these at
runtime at matching specificity, so specificity alone loses the tie.
- `filledBadgeColor` pins amber (orange/yellow) filled badges to shade 5 so
`autoContrast` (JS-computed from the theme shade, not CSS vars) picks black.
- `accessibleTextColor` routes colored log/filter text through the scheme-aware
`-light-color` token so it clears AA on light and dark surfaces.
- `status` Badge variant: amber statuses use black-on-amber (orange text can't
reach AA on light at any Mantine shade).
- Resource URIs use `-light-color` (blue-4 was 4.38:1 in dark).

Names / roles:
- `aria-dialog-name`: custom-header modals use `Modal.Title` (wires the
  dialog's `aria-labelledby`) instead of a bare `Title` + a root `aria-label`
  (which also tripped `aria-prohibited-attr`).
- `button-name`: a `Modal` theme default labels every built-in close button.
- `label`: `aria-label` on the previously-unlabelled Textarea/Select inputs.
- `scrollable-region-focusable`: keyboard-focusable content Code/ScrollArea
viewports; long OAuth values wrap instead of scrolling.
- `heading-order`: correct heading levels (keeping visual size via `size`) so
outlines don't skip a level under the h2 modal/section titles.

Scrollbars: `type="scroll"` ScrollArea theme default — scrollbars auto-hide and
show only while scrolling (a deliberate product choice over the always-visible
a11y default).

`region` is disabled in the Storybook a11y config: isolated component/screen
stories render outside the app's `AppShell` landmarks, so it's a page-level
concern the components can't own.

* web: let the resource template form fill the main-area width (#1678)

Drop the maw=40% cap on the template-form pane so the URI preview and
variable inputs use the full width beside the sidebar, matching the
resource preview pane.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* web: left-align + reverse the input-panel action rows (#1678)

Move the footer action buttons to the left (justify flex-start) and put
the primary action first on the Tool / Prompt / Resource-preview /
Resource-template panels — Subscribe, Refresh, View Source on the
preview panel; Execute before Cancel on the tool panel. Shortens the
pointer travel from the sidebar controls / the form fields above to the
actions, which matters most when the monitoring sidebar is hidden and
the form is wide.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* web: match the dark-mode body background to the header tab bar (#1678)

Set the dark `--inspector-surface-body` to `dark-8` (the Mantine
SegmentedControl fill used by the header tab bar) instead of `dark-9`,
mirroring light mode where the body and the tab bar share `gray-1`.
Cards (`gray-9`) still sit a step above the body, and the contrast audit
stays at zero AA violations on the slightly lighter background.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* web: enforce the a11y gate + fix modal-overlay heading-order (review #1679)

Address the code review:
- Flip the Storybook a11y addon from test: 'todo' to 'error' so axe
violations fail the play-function tests in CI — the zero-violation
state is now gated, not point-in-time.
- Enforcing it surfaced a real heading-order skip: the Tools screen's
  h4 'Tools'/'Results' sit under an h2 Modal.Title when a sampling/
elicitation request modal opens over them. Lift both to h3 (size h4
preserves the look) so h2→h3 is valid in any DOM order.
- Comment the intentional color+c pairing on the Remove/Disconnect
  danger buttons.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* web: brighter warning alerts + pin the elicitation form's actions (#1678)

- Add a 'warning' Alert variant: a bright light-yellow fill (yellow-1)
with crisp near-black text and a bright yellow-5 left accent, instead
of the muddy brown a tinted yellow alert produced once
yellow-light-color was darkened to yellow-9 for contrast. Dark mode
keeps the light-on-dark-tint treatment. Applied to all five yellow
  warning/notice alerts.
- Elicitation form: scroll only the form fields (capped ScrollArea),
keeping the quoted message, warning, and Cancel/Decline/Submit buttons
in view. The modal has no other close affordance, so the actions must
  never scroll out of reach.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* web: robustly pin the elicitation form's actions (#1678)

The previous approach capped only the fields' ScrollArea with a fixed
rem reserve for the pinned chrome, which underestimated it on some
viewports — the whole modal then overflowed and the buttons clipped
half-off-screen. Instead cap the whole panel below the modal height and
lay it out as a flex column: the message and the warning + buttons are
pinned (flex: 0 0 auto) and only the fields (flex: 1) shrink and scroll.
Verified the buttons stay within the panel and the modal fits the
viewport down to very short heights.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* web: fix elicitation form scrolling — fields scroll, actions pinned (#1678)

The prior fix capped the panel with a bare max-height, but a flex:1
ScrollArea's viewport won't bound against a max-height (not fixed-height)
parent, so a tall form's fields overflowed unscrollably (clipped) rather
than scrolling. Adopt ToolDetailPanel's pattern instead: the modal gives
its body a bounded flex column, the panel fills it, and the fields use a
flex: "0 1 auto" ScrollArea — which sizes to content when the form is
short (modal stays compact, nothing scrolls) and shrinks + scrolls once
the panel is capped at the modal height, keeping the message, warning,
and Cancel/Decline/Submit pinned in view. Add a ManyFields story (with a
bounded-height decorator mirroring the modal) to cover the scroll case.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* web: fix elicitation scrolling in the real modal (cap fields, not flex)

The flex-column approach (panel flex:1 in a flex-column modal body, fields
flex:"0 1 auto") worked in a fixed-height Storybook decorator but NOT in the
real modal: the modal body is bounded by max-height, not an explicit height,
so the fields' ScrollArea viewport still couldn't bound — a tall form's
fields overflowed and pushed the warning + Cancel/Decline/Submit off-screen.

Drop the flex plumbing (and the modal-body styles) and cap the fields
directly with ScrollArea.Autosize mah=calc(90dvh - 22rem): it sizes to
content when the form is short (modal compact, nothing scrolls) and scrolls
once the fields hit the cap. The 22rem reserve = the measured non-field
chrome (modal header/padding + message + warning + buttons + gaps), so the
whole modal stays within 90dvh and the actions are always in view. Verified
in the real PendingClientRequestModal (new ElicitationFormTall story) for
both short and tall forms.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* web: pin the sampling modal's actions too (#1678)

Apply the elicitation-form treatment to SamplingRequestPanel: wrap the
request/response content in a ScrollArea.Autosize capped at
calc(90dvh - 10rem) so it scrolls while the Reject / Send Response buttons
stay pinned in view (the modal has no other close affordance). The 10rem
reserve is the pinned chrome (modal header/padding + the actions + gaps) —
smaller than the elicitation form's 22rem since there's no warning banner.
Add a SamplingTall story (8 messages + preferences) to cover the scroll
case in the real PendingClientRequestModal.

test: raise per-file coverage gate to 90 across all clients (closes #1271) (#1532)
* test(web): audit branch-coverage outliers, raise per-file gate to 70 (#1271)

The web per-file coverage gate had drifted red: the recently-landed EMA
auth feature (core/auth/ema/*) and ClientSettings components shipped
undertested, and the prior 50% branch floor let business-logic branches
go untested. CI does not run the coverage gate, so this accumulated.

Add tests to bring every failing file above the gate and push branch
coverage well past 70 across the board, then raise the per-file branches
threshold 50 -> 70 in clients/web/vite.config.ts.

- EMA core (emaFlow, resourceContext, jwt, wire): 50-88% -> 86-100% branch
- EMA OIDC/transport (idpOidc, tokenEndpoint, transportProvider): -> 97-100%
- oauthManager / discovery: 73-83% -> 88-92%
- ClientSettingsModal/Form, ConnectionInfoContent: 0-88% -> 96-100%
- useClientSettingsDraft / useEmaIdpLoginState hooks: 20% -> 100%
- TaskStatusBadge / SortableServerCard outliers: 50% -> 100%

Coverable branches reached by mocking useComputedColorScheme (dark theme),
dnd-kit useSortable (isDragging), and fetch/OIDC paths. Remaining sub-100
branches are genuinely-unreachable defensive guards or happy-dom-inherent
(portal / useMediaQuery / typeof window) and documented in test comments.

No source files changed. Global web branch coverage 88.73% -> 90.63%.
AGENTS.md updated; cli/tui/launcher stay at 50 (out of scope).

* test: raise per-file coverage gate to 90/90/90/90 across all clients

Follows the #1271 web branch-coverage audit (50 -> 70) by raising the
whole per-file gate to >=90 on all four dimensions — lines, statements,
functions, branches — for web, cli, tui, and launcher (core/ is measured
under the web suite). A codebase-wide audit added real tests for every
outlier and brought global coverage up across the board.

Config: all four vitest/vite coverage configs set to 90/90/90/90.
Two pure-type modules (core/mcp/import/types.ts, clients/web/server/
types.ts) added to the web coverage exclude list, matching the existing
type-only exclusions.

Tests: ~50 test files extended/created across core (auth, ema, mcp,
remote, state, storage, react), web components/screens/server, and the
cli/tui clients. Highlights: full EMA OAuth flow + transport coverage,
inspectorClient/remote server backfill, every Mantine control's handler
branches, and the cli unsupported-method / argv-fallback paths.

Genuinely-unreachable branches are annotated at the source with justified
`/* v8 ignore -- <reason> */` comments rather than lowering the gate:
happy-dom-inherent paths (Mantine portal, useMediaQuery, typeof window
SSR guards), React StrictMode effect replay, and provably-dead defensive
guards (?? fallbacks the types make impossible, Select.onChange values
outside the allowed list). No runtime logic changed; the only structural
edits are two behavior-preserving refactors (ResourceTemplatePanel hoists
the field value to a local so the ignore applies in JSX; ToolsScreen
swaps a ternary for an if) and prettier line-wrapping.

Also fixed a flaky real-timer debounce assertion in PromptArgumentsForm
(asserted an exact sibling-typing interleaving that raced the 300ms
debounce; now asserts the load-bearing fact — a non-empty fire-time
sibling capture).

AGENTS.md updated to describe the uniform 90 gate and the v8-ignore
policy. All four client coverage gates, root validate, storybook (370),
and smoke pass.

* test(web): make connect-crash SSE reader stop on the terminal event

`readSseEvents` looped until the server closed the stream (`done`). The
server closes the events stream immediately after writing the terminal
`transport_error`, but under the heavy parallel scheduler pressure of a
full `coverage` run (v8 instrumentation across all workers) that close
can lag far enough behind the event to trip the 30s test timeout — a
hang, not a wrong result. This made the test intermittently fail under
`npm run coverage` (it passed in isolation and under CI's lighter
`test:integration`).

Stop reading as soon as the terminal `transport_error` event arrives
(cancelling the reader) instead of waiting only for `done`. That event is
always the last one the session queue emits, so nothing is lost, and the
test no longer depends on stream-close timing. The `done` break is kept
for any stream that closes first.

Verified green across two consecutive full `npm run test:coverage` runs
(3094 tests) where it previously hung, plus isolation (~0.5s).

fix(web): section-header hover outline + clear buttons out of tab order (#1487) (#1488)
* fix(web): section-header hover outline + clear buttons out of tab order (#1487)

Two button-behavior adjustments:

1. History section headers (Pinned / History) now use the filter-toggle
style — a thin outline on hover instead of a background fill — by pointing
the `sectionHeader` Group variant at the shared `.filter-toggle` class. The
open section keeps its filled background (passed per-instance via `bg`).

2. Every input clear button added in #1448 is removed from the keyboard tab
order via `tabIndex={-1}` (CloseButton clear buttons app-wide, plus the
Autocomplete clear button through `theme/Autocomplete.ts` clearButtonProps),
so tabbing through a form moves to the next field, not onto the clear button.
   The buttons stay mouse-clickable.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(web): apply filter-toggle hover outline to Resources accordion headers (#1487)

The Resources screen `disclosure` accordion controls now share the same
outline-on-hover treatment as the filter toggle buttons and History section
headers: a thin border on hover instead of a background fill, plus a filled
background when the section is open (keyed off `aria-expanded`). The `.filter-
toggle` class is added to the disclosure control slot; the default-variant
accordion (Server Settings) keeps its background-fill hover via a `:not(.filter-
toggle)` guard.

* refactor(web): extract ClearButton element, replace 34 inline clear buttons

Addresses the code-review suggestion on PR #1488: the same five-line
`CloseButton` clear-affordance block (aria-label="Clear" + tabIndex={-1} +
onClick) was hand-copied across 17 files. Extract a single
`elements/ClearButton` (Mantine `CloseButton.withProps` with the aria-label and
tabIndex baked in) and replace all 34 call sites, so the clear-button contract
lives in one place. A global CloseButton theme default would be wrong here — it
would also catch tabbable modal-close X buttons and the Select clear buttons —
so a dedicated element is the right altitude.

Net -151 lines. Adds element unit tests + a Storybook play test covering the
aria-label / tabIndex / clickable contract for all sites at once.

feat(web): add Mantine clear buttons to text inputs app-wide (#1333) (#1448)
* feat(web): add Mantine clear buttons to text inputs app-wide (#1333)

Add a clear (×) affordance to every user-editable text input across the
web client so a populated field can be reset in one click.

- Autocomplete: enable `clearable` by default via the theme
  (`theme/Autocomplete.ts`) — covers the prompt-argument and
  resource-template variable autocomplete branches.
- TextInput / Textarea: Mantine v8 does not expose a public `clearable`
prop on these primitives (only the combobox-based components do), so
add the clear button manually via `rightSection` + `CloseButton`
(aria-label="Clear") shown only when the field has a value, wired to
reset the field's controlled value to "".

Applied to sidebar search inputs (prompts, tools, apps, tasks, history,
resources, network, logs), prompt-argument and resource-template
variable inputs, the sampling response/model fields, server config &
settings forms, roots table, schema form, experimental features panel,
and the server.json import panel. Read-only/display Textareas
(OutputValidationModal, UrlElicitationErrorModal) are intentionally left
untouched.

Tests cover the clear behavior on representative inputs from each
category (sidebar search, prompt argument, resource-template variable,
sampling response, plus the config/settings forms).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(web): disable ServerConfigModal clear buttons while submitting

Address review #2 on #1448: the clear CloseButton sat in `rightSection`
with `rightSectionPointerEvents="auto"`, so it stayed clickable even
while the field was `disabled={submitting}`, letting a user wipe a field
mid-submit. Forward `disabled={submitting}` to each clear button so it
locks together with its input.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* refactor(web): remove redundant Auto-respond from SamplingRequestPanel

The sampling modal pre-loads its draft with the default stub result, and
"Send Response" sends that draft — so on an untouched form "Auto-respond"
did exactly the same thing as "Send Response", just with a fresh copy of
the same defaults. Drop the redundant button and its `onAutoRespond` prop;
"Send Response" now covers both the unedited (stub) and edited cases.

The InlineSamplingRequest variant keeps its Auto-respond button — there it
is the quick path versus "Edit & Send" (which opens this editable modal),
not a duplicate of an adjacent send action.

Updated PendingClientRequestModal wiring, stories, and tests accordingly.

Port resource preview UX improvements to PromptsScreen (#1328) (#1331)
* Port resource preview UX improvements to PromptsScreen (#1328)

Brings the prompt-fetching flow up to parity with the resource preview
work from #1326:

- Cap the argument-form pane at maw=40% so a bare input + button doesn't
  stretch across wide displays.
- Auto-fetch no-argument prompts the moment they're picked from the
sidebar (handleSelectPrompt routes them straight to onGetPrompt({})),
and hide the form once the user clicks Get Prompt — the result panel
takes the same fixed-height column the resource preview uses.
- Apply the PreviewCard variant=preview pattern: card sizes to content
but caps at viewport, PromptMessagesDisplay pins its header (flex 0 0
auto) and lets the inner ScrollArea (flex 0 1 auto, mih 0) absorb
  overflow.
- Tag getPromptState with the prompt name in App.tsx so the screen can
ignore a stale result whose name no longer matches the selection.
- MessageBubble now routes each content block through ContentViewer
(markdown for text via mimeType="text/markdown", image/audio/resource
via existing ContentViewer branches). Non-renderable block types
(tool_use, tool_result) are filtered out; the role-label header keeps
  the bubble visible regardless.
- PromptArgumentsForm gains onCompleteArgument + completionsSupported;
when both are set, each input becomes Mantine Autocomplete with the
same per-arg AbortController + per-arg debounce timer pattern as
  ResourceTemplatePanel. PromptsScreen + InspectorView + App.tsx wire
the callback to inspectorClient.getCompletions with a
  ref/prompt envelope.

Closes #1328.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Add close (X) buttons to ResourcePreviewPanel and PromptMessagesDisplay

A top-left CloseButton dismisses the preview panel. The host screen
decides what to fall back to:

- ResourcesScreen remembers the originating template URI when the user
reads from a template form (originatingTemplateUri); closing the
preview restores the template form. Plain-resource reads (sidebar
selection) just empty the selection and return to the empty state.
Picking a different template / resource from the sidebar clears the
  back-trail.
- PromptsScreen flips submittedFor back to undefined when the closed
prompt has arguments — the argument form re-renders with the
user's values preserved so they can edit and re-submit. No-arg
prompts have nothing to fall back to, so the selection is dropped
  and the empty state appears.

The X button is hidden when the host omits onClose, so callers that
don't want a dismiss control keep their existing rendering.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Add close button to pending and error preview states

The OK-state preview already had its X button (inside the panel
component itself). Pending and error states were inline cards in
renderReadState / renderPreview with no way to dismiss them, so a
user who submitted bad input to a resource template or prompt was
stuck staring at the error until they picked a different sidebar
item. Adds a top-left CloseButton row to both states on both screens,
wired to the same handleClosePreview handler — so the template form
or argument form re-appears on close just like it does from the OK
state.

* Fire prompt completions on focus and send every sibling in context

Two fixes to the PromptArgumentsForm autocomplete:

- Focusing an argument input now fires completion/complete immediately
(handleFocus) — the dropdown is populated as soon as the user clicks
in, not only after they start typing. Any in-flight debounce timer
for the same arg is cancelled so a stale keystroke request can't
  overwrite the fresh focus response.
- The completion context now includes every declared prompt argument
(with "" for ones the user hasn't typed into yet), minus the one
being completed. Previously the context only carried args the user
had touched, so servers that disambiguate based on co-arguments
couldn't see the full picture on the first keystroke.

Tests cover both: a focus-only path that fires before any keystroke,
and a typing path that asserts the empty sibling is sent through.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fire resource-template completions on focus

Mirrors the prompt-side change: focusing a template variable input
now fires completion/complete immediately so the dropdown populates
the moment the user clicks in, rather than waiting for the first
keystroke + 300ms debounce. Any pending debounce timer for the same
variable is cancelled first so a stale keystroke response can't
overwrite the focus response.

The sibling-context coverage was already correct here — `variables`
is seeded with empty strings for every declared template variable at
mount and on template switch, so the context payload always carries
the full variable set minus the one being completed.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Style Autocomplete dropdowns to match the rest of the app

Two fixes so the completion dropdowns on prompt-argument and
resource-template inputs look like every other dropdown in the app:

- App.css: the dark-mode dropdown / option-hover rules used to target
.mantine-Select-* only, so the Autocomplete dropdowns shipped with
Mantine's default surface color and a different hover background.
  Re-scoped to .mantine-Combobox-* so every Combobox-built input
(Select, Autocomplete, MultiSelect, …) inherits the same styling.
- theme/Autocomplete.ts: new theme module setting `radius: "md"` so
Autocomplete matches the default Select / TextInput corner radius.
  Wired through theme/index.ts and theme/theme.ts.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Fix dropdown styling — Select and Autocomplete need separate selectors

The previous commit re-scoped the dark-mode dropdown rules from
`.mantine-Select-*` to `.mantine-Combobox-*` on the assumption that
both Select and Autocomplete share a Combobox class on the dropdown
root. They don't — Mantine's Combobox factory takes
`__staticSelector` from the parent component, so Select emits
`mantine-Select-dropdown` and Autocomplete emits
`mantine-Autocomplete-dropdown` with no shared `Combobox` class on
that element. The `.mantine-Combobox-*` selector matched nothing,
so the TaskControls filter (and every other Select) lost its gray
surface and reverted to Mantine's default brown-ish dark background.

List both selectors so Select dropdowns keep their styling and
Autocomplete dropdowns pick it up.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Address review feedback: canSubmit, fire-time context, re-click guard

- PromptArgumentsForm: add a canSubmit guard that disables Get Prompt
until every required argument has a value, matching the resource
template form's symmetry. Optional args may stay blank.
- Both forms: capture sibling context inside the debounce callback,
not at schedule time. Hold the latest argumentValues / variables
in a ref + sync via useEffect, and call buildContext() at fire
time. Without this, typing in arg A then arg B within the 300ms
window would ship A's request with B's pre-keystroke value.
- PromptsScreen.handleSelectPrompt: early-return when the user
re-clicks the already-selected prompt — sidebar is for navigation,
✕ is for dismiss. Previously a re-click wiped form values and
  re-fired the auto-fetch for no-arg prompts.
- MessageBubble: expand the comment on effectiveMimeForBlock to flag
the unconditional markdown promotion as a known asymmetry with
the resource side (which only promotes when the server signals it),
pending a per-block mimeType in the spec.
- New tests: canSubmit disabled / enabled transitions, fire-time
context capture across siblings, abort-path verification (a stale
in-flight response must not overwrite the fresh one), and the
  no-op re-click guard on PromptsScreen.

* Address follow-up review nits: ghost suggestions, dead previewActive branch

- Clear `completions[name]` at the top of handleChange in both
PromptArgumentsForm and ResourceTemplatePanel so the dropdown
doesn't show stale options from the previous prefix during the
  300ms debounce + network window.
- Simplify previewActive in PromptsScreen to drop the unreachable
`!getPromptState?.promptName` fallback. App.tsx tags every prompt
state transition with `promptName`, so the fallback was dead code
that obscured the actual runtime invariant.
- Add a focused test for each form that asserts stale dropdown
options vanish the instant a new keystroke arrives.

Expose live resource subscriptions via a hook (#1325) (#1326)
* Expose live resource subscriptions via a hook (#1325)

Add ResourceSubscriptionsState that mirrors InspectorClient's subscribed
URIs as InspectorResourceSubscription[], resolving each URI against the
managed resources list (so the subscription tile shows server-supplied
name/title) and stamping lastUpdated on notifications/resources/updated.
Pair it with useResourceSubscriptions and wire App.tsx so the Resources
screen reflects subscribe/unsubscribe actions in real time.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Address review notes on resourceSubscriptionsState

- Soften the onResourceUpdated comment: the client's dispatch is already
guarded by subscribedResources.has(uri), so the re-check is true
defense-in-depth rather than guarding a known hazard.
- Use this.getSubscriptions() in the statusChange handler so every emit
  goes through the defensive-copy path.
- Document the deliberate fallback to a synthetic Resource when a
previously-listed resource is removed from the managed list while
  the user is still subscribed.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Reflect subscribed state in preview + compact subscribed tile labels

- Wire `isSubscribed` on the ReadResourceState passed to ResourcesScreen
by deriving it from the live subscriptions list in App.tsx. The
ResourcePreviewPanel's SubscribeButton already flips its label to
"Unsubscribe" when subscribed; without this derivation isSubscribed
was always false and the button looked stuck on "Subscribe".
- In ResourceSubscribedItem, display only the last URI path segment
(truncated with ellipsis if it still overflows) and surface the full
URI via a hover tooltip. Keeps the Subscriptions pleat readable when
  resources have long path-style URIs.

* Auto-read resource on sidebar click

Clicking a resource in the URIs accordion now triggers onReadResource
in addition to setting the selection, so the preview panel jumps
straight to the pending → ok render path. Removes the unreachable
"Click to read this resource" placeholder, since the loader / preview /
error states always cover the rendered output for a selected resource.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Render markdown resources via react-markdown + fix preview overflow

- Add react-markdown / remark-gfm dependencies.
- ContentViewer accepts an optional mimeType prop; when it matches
text/markdown (or text/x-markdown), text blocks render via
  react-markdown wrapped in a `.markdown-content` container. Non-markdown
text now uses the existing Code "wrapping" variant so long lines stay
  inside the panel.
- ResourcePreviewPanel infers `text/markdown` from a `.md` / `.markdown`
URI suffix when the server didn't supply a mimeType, and threads the
effective mime through to ContentViewer per content item.
- ResourcesScreen flex children get miw=0 so a long unwrappable line in
the resource body can no longer push the preview past the viewport's
  right edge.
- App.css gains a `.markdown-content` ruleset constraining nested pre,
table, code, and img elements to the container's width.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Contain resource preview: sticky header/footer, scrollable body

Restructure ResourcePreviewPanel into a fixed-height column with the
resource title + URI pinned to the top and the timestamp / annotations /
subscribe-refresh actions pinned to the bottom. The content viewer area
in the middle now owns its own ScrollArea, so a long markdown body
scrolls within the panel instead of pushing the subscribe button below
the viewport.

In ResourcesScreen, the selectedResource branch (and the template
branch's right pane) now hosts the panel inside a PreviewPane Flex
column with the screen's max-height, and renderReadState wraps in a
FillDetailCard sized to fill that column. The legacy outer
ScrollArea.Autosize is removed for these panes since scrolling is
internal now.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* Auto-hide template after read; size preview to content with cap

- After the user clicks Read Resource on the template form,
handleReadResource now clears selectedTemplateUri so the screen
swaps from the template form to the resource preview. Previously
  both panels stayed mounted side-by-side.
- The preview no longer hard-fills the viewport. The Card uses a new
"preview" theme variant (overflow: hidden) and is content-sized,
capped at SCROLL_MAX_HEIGHT. ResourcePreviewPanel's flex column
marks the header / meta / footer rows as `flex: 0 0 auto` and the
  ContentScroll as `flex: 0 1 auto` with `mih: 0`, so:
    - short content → card hugs it, footer sits right under the body
    - long content → card caps at viewport, ContentScroll shrinks
and scrolls internally, footer stays pinned at the cap
- ScrollArea / Group imports in ResourcesScreen pruned to match the
  simpler single-pane layout.

* Cap template form panel at 40% width

A bare text input + Read Resource button stretched across the whole
main content area looks awkward on wide displays. Apply maw=40% to
the PreviewPane in the template branch so the form keeps a reasonable
form-field width regardless of viewport.

The preview branch is unaffected — resource bodies still get the full
main area for content.

* Live completion/complete suggestions on resource template inputs

Wires the server's `completions` capability through to the resource
template form so each variable's input becomes an Autocomplete that
fires `completion/complete` (debounced, 300ms) on every keystroke and
surfaces the returned values as a dropdown — mirroring v1's behavior.

- core/mcp/inspectorClientProtocol.ts: surface getCompletions on the
protocol so non-runtime callers (state managers, hooks, tests) can
depend on it. FakeInspectorClient gains a vi.fn-backed stub.
- ResourceTemplatePanel: accepts onCompleteArgument + completionsSupported.
When both are present it renders Mantine Autocomplete instead of
TextInput, debounces keystrokes via per-arg timers, aborts in-flight
requests on the next keystroke, and disables client-side filtering
(the server already filtered for the typed prefix).
- ResourcesScreen / InspectorView: thread the props through; the
screen-level callback re-injects the active template's URI as the
  `ref: "ref/resource"` so the panel-level callback stays ref-free.
- App.tsx: wires onCompleteArgument to inspectorClient.getCompletions
  and derives completionsSupported from `capabilities?.completions`.

test(coverage): bootstrap vitest unit infra and add tests at 90%+ per file (#1245) (#1269)
* test(coverage): bootstrap vitest unit infra and add tests at 90%+ per file (#1245)

Establishes the unit-test runtime AGENTS.md mandates: a vitest "unit"
project alongside the existing storybook project, RTL + jest-dom +
happy-dom, a Mantine-aware render helper, and a 90%-line per-file
coverage gate enforced by CI. Adds 66 test files covering all 62
components under elements/groups/screens/views, plus core/mcp and
clients/web/src/utils. Total: 577 tests, 98.7% line coverage globally.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(coverage): address PR #1269 review feedback

- AGENTS.md: correct coverage gate description (lines ≥ 90, statements ≥ 85,
functions ≥ 80, branches ≥ 50) with rationale for the relaxed branch
  threshold
- InspectorView.test.tsx: document what the Math.random() mock values
  (0.1 / 0.99) control vs. STUB_SUCCESS_RATE in InspectorView.tsx
- vite.config.ts / tsconfig.test.json: drop unused `globals: true` and the
`vitest/globals` type now that every test file imports describe/it/expect/vi
explicitly; manual `afterEach(cleanup)` in setup.ts remains required because
  testing-library auto-cleanup relies on globalThis.afterEach

d817c46911 Phase 2: Refactor Resources cluster to MCP SDK types
Replace ad hoc local types with MCP SDK schema types across the Resources
group components and ResourcesScreen, per the v2 UX interfaces plan.

- ResourceListItem: accept `resource: Resource | ResourceTemplate` instead
  of flat `name`/`uri`; render `title ?? name`; delete local
  `ResourceAnnotations` type
- ResourceControls: accept `Resource[]`, `ResourceTemplate[]`,
  `InspectorResourceSubscription[]` + `selectedUri`/`selectedTemplate`
  instead of `ResourceItem[]`/`TemplateListItem[]`/`SubscriptionItem[]`;
  no-op on re-selecting
- ResourcePreviewPanel: accept `resource: Resource` +
  `contents: (TextResourceContents | BlobResourceContents)[]` instead of
  flat `content: string`; use SDK `Annotations` (audience as Role[]);
  `lastUpdated` as `Date` not `string`
- ResourceTemplatePanel: accept `template: ResourceTemplate` instead of
  flat props; use SDK `Annotations`
- ResourceSubscribedItem: accept `subscription: InspectorResourceSubscription`
  instead of flat `name`/`lastUpdated`; `lastUpdated` as `Date`
- ResourcesScreen: accept `Resource[]`, `ResourceTemplate[]`,
  `InspectorResourceSubscription[]` + `selectedResourceUri`/
  `selectedTemplateUri` + `ReadResourceState`; derive selections via
  `find()`; add loading/error states
- Delete local `ResourceItem`, `TemplateListItem`, `SubscriptionItem`,
  `SelectedResource`, `SelectedTemplate`, `ResourceAnnotations` types
- Update all stories with real SDK fixtures
- Update ConnectedView ResourcesActive story

2d4fca4fa6 Phase 1: Refactor all 16 element component interfaces to use MCP SDK types
Replace ad-hoc local type definitions in element components with real
MCP SDK types and Inspector wrapper types from core/mcp/types.ts:

Schema-typed primitives:
- LogLevelBadge: LogLevel → LoggingLevel (SDK)
- TransportBadge: "stdio"|"http" → ServerType (core), add sse/streamable-http
- TaskStatusBadge: local TaskStatus → SDK TaskStatus (working/input_required/...)
- ServerStatusIndicator: inline union → ConnectionStatus (core), "failed"→"error"

MCP wrapper consumers:
- AnnotationBadge: label+variant → facet+value with SDK Role type
- CapabilityItem: name:string → capability:keyof ServerCapabilities|ClientCapabilities
- LogEntry: flat props → entry:{receivedAt:Date, params:LoggingMessageNotification["params"]}
- MessageBubble: flat props → message:SamplingMessage|PromptMessage
- ProgressDisplay: flat props → params:ProgressNotification["params"]

Composite-input elements:
- ContentViewer: type+content+mimeType → block:ContentBlock (SDK discriminated union)
- InlineError: message+details → error:{message,data?}
- ConnectionToggle: checked+loading+onChange → status:ConnectionStatus+onConnect/onDisconnect

Also updates all group/screen/view consumers to keep the build green,
and renames CSS variable --inspector-status-failed → --inspector-status-error.

a0e763a315 Redesign Resources screen: template panel, subscriptions, hover states, and callback architecture
- Rename ResourceTemplateInput to ResourceTemplatePanel with panel layout
(title header, URI with live variable preview, labeled inputs, Read Resource button)
- ResourceTemplatePanel manages its own variable state via useState;
single onReadResource(uri) callback returns fully resolved URI
- Extract ResourceSubscribedItem group component with name, timestamp, and
  subtle Unsubscribe button
- Add hover state to listItem variant via theme classNames + App.css pseudo-selector
- Add Refresh button to ResourcePreviewPanel
- Refactor ResourcesScreen callbacks: onSelectUri, onSelectTemplate,
  onReadResource, onSubscribeResource, onUnsubscribeResource replace
per-item onClick/onUnsubscribe props; screen wires callbacks to children
- Define data-only types (ResourceItem, TemplateListItem, SubscriptionItem,
SelectedResource, SelectedTemplate) separating data from callbacks
- Extract named .withProps() subcomponents (FooterRow, AnnotationGroup,
  ActionGroup, Spacer) for AGENTS.md compliance
- Update all stories (ResourceTemplatePanel, ResourcesScreen, ConnectedView)
