775b98a019 docs(core): clarify redaction scope + add nested request-body test
Address round-1 review feedback on fetchTracking redaction:
- Cross-reference REDACTED_VALUE / REDACTED_HEADER_VALUE so a reader
  understands why two identical "[REDACTED]" constants coexist.
- Document that redactBody deliberately scopes to form-encoded + JSON
  (multipart/binary bodies pass through; OAuth never uses multipart).
- Add a tracker-path test asserting a nested sensitive key in a JSON
  request body is redacted in the recorded copy while the live outbound
  body stays byte-identical.

1fd1313c96 test(web): gate src/lib/** under the coverage include globs (closes #1594)
Broaden the web vitest `coverage.include` from the single-file
`src/lib/sandbox-csp.{ts,tsx}` entry to `src/lib/**/*.{ts,tsx}` so the
per-file >=90 four-dimension gate applies to every library module under
`src/lib`, not just sandbox-csp.

- Add unit tests for the previously-ungated `environmentFactory.ts`
  (createWebEnvironment) and `types/customHeaders.ts` value helpers,
  bringing both to 100% on all four dimensions.
- Annotate downloadFile.ts's provably-dead `?? ""` fallback (String.split
  always returns a non-empty array so .pop() is never undefined) with a
  justified `v8 ignore`, closing its last uncovered branch (92.3 -> 100).

All five src/lib files now report 100/100/100/100.

524bf2d543 feat(core): redact sensitive body + URL-query fields in fetch log (closes #1593)
Extends the header redaction from #1585. Before a fetch entry reaches any
sink, mask known-sensitive credentials in the request/response bodies and
the URL query string, in addition to headers:

- redactBody(): form-urlencoded + JSON bodies, recursive over nested
  objects/arrays, best-effort (never throws), values-only.
- redactUrlQuery(): masks sensitive query params, preserves path,
  non-sensitive params, and any fragment.
- Sensitive fields: client_secret, code, refresh_token, access_token,
  id_token, code_verifier, client_assertion, assertion, password, token
  (case-insensitive), reusing the [REDACTED] sentinel.

Applied to the request success + error entries and the async response-body
callback. Live outbound requests are byte-identical — only the logged copy
is redacted.

dd7812063c test(web): make the debounce-cancellation test load-bearing (review round 1)
The "cancels a pending debounce timer when the input is re-focused" test
passed trivially after the delay:null change: synchronous typing meant the
assertion ran at t≈0, before the 300ms debounce could ever fire, so it
passed whether or not handleFocus's clearTimeout worked.

Rewrote it with fake timers so the debounce window elapses deterministically
(advance the clock by 400ms directly). The interaction is driven with
fireEvent rather than userEvent because userEvent's async internals deadlock
under vitest fake timers with the Mantine/happy-dom stack. Verified
load-bearing: removing the clearTimeout in handleFocus makes it fail
(expected 1 to be 0), and it passes once restored.

Also tightened the sibling-context comment (with delay:null the sibling is
reliably "es"); the tolerant /^es?$/ regex is left as-is.

4bad110942 test(web): eliminate timeout flakiness in the web test suite (closes #1596)
Root-cause and deterministically fix the recurring 5s-timeout flakes that
surfaced under v8-instrumented, concurrent load. All fixes are test-only; no
product source changed. No test was skipped or disabled, and the per-file
coverage gate (>=90 on all four dims) still holds.

Common root cause across the modal/form/screen suites: userEvent.setup()
schedules a real setTimeout between keystrokes. Under CPU contention those
yields balloon, so multi-field interactions blew past the 5s per-test
timeout. Fix: userEvent.setup({ delay: null }) removes the per-keystroke
real-timer dependence (typing dispatches synchronously), making the suites
load-independent.

Per file:
- ServerConfigModal / ServerImportConfigModal / ServerImportJsonModal /
  ResourcesScreen / InspectorView: userEvent.setup({ delay: null }).
- PromptArgumentsForm (completions): replaced wall-clock sleeps sized just
  past the 300ms completion debounce (await setTimeout(400)) — which race
  the debounce timer under load — with awaited conditions (findBy/waitFor)
  on the real rendered outcome, plus delay:null. Negative assertions now
  lean on the component's synchronous state/timer teardown instead of a
  timed window, so they are deterministic regardless of machine speed.
- inspectorClient integration "tracks stderr logs": the child's stderr is
  piped out-of-band from the tool's JSON-RPC response, so reading the log
  synchronously after callTool raced the stderr chunk. Wrapped the assertion
  in vi.waitFor so it polls until the line lands.

Verified: web validate + 6x test:coverage (4 sequential + 2 concurrent
under load) + standalone test:integration, all green (229 files / 3237
tests per coverage run; 799 integration tests), zero intermittent failures.

4e149719bd fix(auth): route clearClientInformation through clearAfterHydration too
Round-2 @claude review of #1592 caught a seventh member of the clear
family that the first pass missed: clearClientInformation still wrote to
the store synchronously, carrying the same pre-hydration clobber risk the
clearAfterHydration helper was written for (a clear before hydration lands
persists a near-empty blob, overwriting the whole on-disk oauth.json).
Wrap its mutation the same way and add a clear-before-hydration test
proving a sibling token (and thus every other server's blob) survives.

8c10b8eb8e fix(auth): make clear* hydration-safe, migrate raw-key blobs, doc keepalive/memo caveats
Address round-1 @claude review of #1592:

- OAuthStorageBase.clear* no longer mutate the pre-hydration (empty) store —
  a clear issued before hydration is deferred until it lands, so it merges
  onto the real persisted state instead of (a) being resurrected by the late
  rehydrate merge or (b) persisting a near-empty blob that clobbers every
  other server's on-disk credential. Already-hydrated clears stay synchronous.
- store.setServerState migrates a pre-normalization raw-key blob onto the
  canonical key on first partial write (was: shadowed it with a fresh
  canonical entry, orphaning the raw blob's other fields). clearServerState
  now also drops the raw-key orphan.
- Document the keepalive 64KB combined-body ceiling on the remote-storage
  write, the getRemoteOAuthStorage memo key intentionally omitting fetchFn,
  and the real ordering invariant behind the sync getScope.
- Tests for the clear-before-hydration and raw-key-migration paths.

cb54de50d8 refactor(web): document + guard sandbox CSP builder per review
Address round-1 @claude review of #1588 (no behavior change to the
enforced policy):

- approveCspSources / buildSandboxCspPolicy: document that
  resourceDomains intentionally feeds script-src/style-src per the
  McpUiResourceCsp contract, and that approve screens injection-safety
  only (not breadth — a bare `*` is accepted; safe under the
  opaque-origin sandbox).
- CSP_KEYS: replace the `satisfies` (proves listed keys valid) with an
  exhaustiveCspKeys() helper that ALSO fails to compile if the upstream
  ext-apps type gains a domain key CSP_KEYS omits, so a requested
  restriction can never be silently dropped.
- SAFE_CSP_SOURCE: accept case-insensitive schemes (URL schemes are
  case-insensitive); previously over-rejected `HTTPS://…`. Adds tests.

b152f74ccd fix(ci): run CI on Node 22.x and correct undici 8 Node floor (#1563)
undici 8.5.0 requires Node >= 22.19.0 (its declared engines), so CI's
Node 20.x could not load undici's CacheStorage (missing
webidl.util.markAsUncloneable) and the proxy integration tests failed.
Bump the CI setup-node to 22.x to match the repo's Node floor.

Reconcile the declared floor with undici's real requirement: bump root
engines.node to >=22.19.0 and correct the CLI README note (undici 8.5.0
needs >=22.19.0, not >=22.7.5). Also document proxy support in the web
README and clarify that a caller-supplied eventSourceInit.fetch bypasses
the proxy wrapper by design.

d21da16983 refactor(auth): address review — accurate toast copy, document state asymmetry, tighten test
- Soften the OAuth-callback-rejected toast: the shape guard is
  defense-in-depth, not full CSRF prevention (PKCE remains primary), so the
  message no longer overstates ("rejecting to prevent a cross-site request" ->
  "did not originate from this session").
- Document the intentional asymmetry between a present-but-malformed `state`
  (rejected) and a wholly absent `state` (accepted, matched via
  OAUTH_PENDING_SERVER_KEY) — rejecting the null case would mask real provider
  error redirects that omit `state`.
- Make the "valid state is not rejected" test assert the specific downstream
  "could not be matched" toast (seeding OAUTH_PENDING_SERVER_KEY) instead of an
  indirect "some toast fired" check.

fa5514a380 fix(cli): guard numeric .code to HTTP range; bound cause-chain depth
Address @claude review of #1583:

- statusOf() now only treats a numeric `.code` as an HTTP status when it
  is in the 100-599 range, so an MCP SDK McpError JSON-RPC code (e.g.
  -32601 MethodNotFound) is no longer leaked into the envelope `status`
  or misclassified as AUTH_REQUIRED (it falls back to USAGE).
- causeOf() now carries a depth cap (MAX_CAUSE_DEPTH) so a cyclic/
  self-referential `error.cause` chain terminates instead of recursing
  infinitely.
- Add tests for both: a -32601 McpError-shaped error (status undefined,
  exit USAGE) and a self-referential cause chain (finite string).

c299b6e9d8 feat(web): migrate OAuth store to shared /store API (RemoteOAuthStorage parity) (closes #1548)
Migrate the web client's OAuth storage from BrowserOAuthStorage
(sessionStorage) to RemoteOAuthStorage, which POSTs through the backend's
/api/storage/oauth route to ~/.mcp-inspector/storage/oauth.json (mode 0600).
A credential obtained in the browser is now the same blob the TUI/CLI read
on the same host, giving web ⇄ TUI ⇄ CLI parity (Wave 1 of #1579).

Core (shared with TUI/CLI):
- OAuthStorageBase now drives a single async hydration (`ready()`,
  `getHydrationError()`); every post-redirect read (getClientInformation,
  getTokens, getCodeVerifier, getServerMetadata, getIdpSession) and every
  save awaits it so a late hydration merge cannot clobber a fresh write.
  getCodeVerifier/getServerMetadata become async; the store is created with
  skipHydration:true so there is no auto-hydration to race the explicit one.
- store.ts adds normalizeServerUrl so a token saved under
  https://Example.com/mcp is found when the CLI asks for
  https://example.com/mcp/; getServerState falls back to the raw key.
- remote-storage adapter POSTs with keepalive so the write survives the
  OAuth authorize redirect, surfaces swallowed persist failures, and gives
  richer read/write error messages.
- generateOAuthState throws instead of silently degrading to Math.random.
- NodeOAuthStorage honors MCP_INSPECTOR_OAUTH_STATE_PATH for isolated
  fixtures. Provider codeVerifier()/getServerMetadata() + the EMA idpOidc and
  connection-state readers await the now-async storage.

Web:
- environmentFactory + a new shared lib/remoteOAuthStorage accessor
  (memoized per {baseUrl, authToken}) wire RemoteOAuthStorage into the
  connection path, the EMA IdP hook, and the per-server "clear OAuth" action
  so all three share one in-memory view of oauth.json.

Tests: async-hydration + normalizeServerUrl suite, keepalive/error-path
coverage, and the sync→async migration across existing storage/provider/EMA
tests. Web validate + coverage gate + integration suite green; CLI/TUI/
launcher validate green.

d5be4929e9 feat(core): honor HTTPS_PROXY/HTTP_PROXY/NO_PROXY in the Node transport (closes #1563)
Wrap the Node transport's fetch with an undici EnvHttpProxyAgent dispatcher
when a standard proxy env var is set, so the CLI and web backend can reach
remote MCP servers through corporate proxies with zero new flags. undici is
imported lazily (only when a proxy var is present) and added as a dependency
at the repo root and in the CLI client; a missing undici raises an actionable
error. Documents the behavior and dependency in the CLI README.

2b84281346 feat(auth): harden OAuth state generation and callback validation (closes #1562)
generateOAuthState() now throws when crypto.getRandomValues is unavailable
instead of silently degrading to a non-cryptographic Math.random() fallback —
OAuth state is a CSRF token and must be unpredictable.

The web /oauth/callback handler now rejects a returned `state` param that does
not parse to the expected 64-char-hex authId shape (a forgery indicator),
surfacing a clear error toast instead of proceeding with an undefined session.

77e57e0d25 feat(web): add sandbox CSP builder library (closes #1558)
Add a pure, DOM-free CSP-builder library at
clients/web/src/lib/sandbox-csp.ts that validates app-supplied
`_meta.ui.csp` requests, filters them to safe sources, builds the
locked-down Content-Security-Policy string, and wraps untrusted widget
HTML in a fixed host shell whose first <head> child is the CSP meta.

- SAFE_CSP_SOURCE: strict regex that rejects directive/attribute
  breakouts (`;`, `"`, `<`, `>`, whitespace).
- approveCspSources(): drops unsafe entries (with a warning) and omits
  empty keys; echoes back only what the host will enforce.
- buildSandboxCspPolicy(): `default-src 'none'` catch-all, `form-action
  'none'`, source-allowlist filtering, `'unsafe-inline'` for the app's
  own inline script/style.
- escapeHtmlAttr() / wrapSandboxedHtml(): defense-in-depth so untrusted
  bytes never precede the applied policy.

Re-implements the sandbox-csp portion of PR #1510 (Wave 1 of #1579) as a
standalone library; wiring into the app bridge is a follow-up issue.
Adds full unit tests (100% lines/statements/functions/branches) and
lists the file in the web coverage `include` so it is gated (the
untested legacy src/lib siblings stay out until they get tests).

0d50b908a3 feat(test-servers): mcp_app_demo preset + _meta on tool/resource defs (closes #1557)
Add an `mcp_app_demo` tool/resource preset — a self-contained MCP App widget
that exercises size-changed, ui/message, log notifications, and host-context
rendering with no external server. Requires plumbing an optional `_meta` field
through the composable test server's `ToolDefinition` and `ResourceDefinition`
so clients can read tool-level `_meta.ui.resourceUri` and resource-level
`_meta.ui.csp`.

- composable-test-server: optional `_meta` on ToolDefinition/ResourceDefinition,
  passed through to registerTool config and the resource content item.
- test-server-fixtures: `createMcpAppDemoTool()`, `createMcpAppDemoResource()`,
  inline `MCP_APP_DEMO_HTML` widget; wired into getDefaultServerConfig.
- preset-registry: `mcp_app_demo` tool + `mcp_app_demo_widget` resource presets.
- integration test asserting the `_meta` plumbing end-to-end.

26478159be feat(web): generalize downloadFile.ts with downloadBlob, fileNameFromUri, isHttpUrl (closes #1560)
Extend the browser download library beyond JSON so the Apps host's

open http(s) links safely, with no UI wiring in this change:

- downloadBlob(): temp-anchor download core with a setTimeout(...,0)-
  deferred revokeObjectURL so a synchronous revoke can't abort the
  scheduled download (Firefox/Safari, intermittently Chrome).
- downloadJsonFile(): refactored on top of downloadBlob; callers unchanged.
- fileNameFromUri(): last path segment sanitized (control/format chars
  stripped, disallowed filename chars -> _, capped at 255, "download"
  fallback).
- isHttpUrl(): parse-and-allowlist http(s) only, else null.

1a6e32be50 feat(core): add AppInfo + extractAppInfo() to core/mcp/apps.ts (closes #1556)

exact-URI first, then a lowercase + trailing-slash normalized match, then

- document the exit-code map + envelope shape in clients/cli/README.md

Wave 1 foundation of the PR #1510 decomposition; shapes kept clean for
reuse by --app-info (exit 2), stored-auth (exit 3), and --format json.

feat(web): add a View Source toggle to the resource preview (closes #1552) (#1553)
* feat(web): add View Source toggle to resource preview (closes #1552)

Markdown, CSV, and HTML resources render in a way that hides the
underlying text (react-markdown, the CSV table, the sandboxed HTML
iframe). Add a "View Source" button to the resource preview footer, left
of Refresh and styled to match it, that swaps the rendered preview for
the raw resource text. In source mode the button reads "View Rendered".

- Only shown for markdown/csv/html (other kinds already show their text,
  or have no meaningful text source).
- Source mode forces ContentViewer through its plain-text renderer; the
  displayed MIME label keeps the resource's real type.
- The toggle resets to the rendered view when the previewed resource
  changes (React's adjust-state-during-render pattern — no effect).

Tests cover the toggle round-trip, per-kind visibility, and the reset;
a Storybook play function exercises rendered → source → rendered.

* refactor(web): address View Source review nits (#1553)

- Per-item source gating: in source mode only source-toggleable items
  switch to plain text, so a mixed multi-part resource doesn't force an
  image/PDF blob through the text decoder.
- Share a FooterButton constant between Refresh and the View Source
  toggle so the two stay visually identical (per the subcomponent
  guidance — both had the same two inline props).
- Add aria-pressed to the toggle so assistive tech gets explicit on/off
  state beyond the label flip.

Tests added for the aria-pressed state and the mixed multi-part case.

feat(web): expand ContentViewer to render PDF, CSV, HTML, XML, JSON, CSS (closes #1329) (#1551)
* feat(web): expand ContentViewer to render PDF, CSV, HTML, XML, JSON, CSS (closes #1329)

Turn ContentViewer into a per-MIME dispatch surface for resource content.
It now accepts raw TextResourceContents | BlobResourceContents (in addition
to the existing ContentBlock path), so ResourcePreviewPanel.toContentBlock
collapses to a passthrough and blob-typed resources render natively instead
of falling back to opaque "[Binary content …]" text.

New renderers (clients/web/src/components/elements/):
- CodeHighlight: lazy react-syntax-highlighter prism-light element. Runtime,
  tomorrow theme, and each grammar dynamic-import on first use (one chunk per
  grammar). Module-level registeredLanguages / failedLoads / loadingPromises
  caches; plain Code block until a grammar resolves.
- PdfFrame: iframe over a Blob URL (#view=FitH), revoked on unmount.
- CsvTable: papaparse -> Mantine Table (first 100 rows), plain-Code fallback.
- HtmlFrame: sandbox="" iframe over a Blob URL with an injected CSP meta
  (no script-src, falls through to default-src 'none').
- contentViewerUtils: getMimeKind, base64 decode helpers, formatXml,
  wrapHtmlWithCsp, SAFE_HREF markdown-anchor allowlist (unsafe href -> span).

ResourcePreviewPanel: extend the URI-suffix MIME inference table
(.csv/.json/.xml/.html/.htm/.css/.pdf alongside .md).

Deps: papaparse + react-syntax-highlighter (+ @types). tsconfig paths stubs
redirect the deep RSH imports for typecheck (the @types ambient declarations
are shadowed by the real .js under bundler resolution) — same pattern the
repo uses for react/pino.

Tests cover PDF blob-URL creation + cleanup, CSV table render + fallback,
HTML sandbox attributes + CSP injection, JSON/XML/CSS highlighted output,
the lazy-load/alias/failed-load/shared-runtime paths, and the URI-suffix
MIME-inference paths. validate, test:coverage (per-file gate), test:storybook,
and integration all pass.

* fix(web): harden ContentViewer blob/CSV rendering per review (#1551)

Address review feedback on the ContentViewer MIME-dispatch PR:

- useObjectUrl: fix a dev-only StrictMode bug where the committed object
  URL was revoked but never recreated (setup→cleanup→setup with no
  re-render), blanking PDF/HTML previews. Revocation is now deferred to a
  microtask and guarded by a "live URL" ref so a StrictMode re-setup
  cancels it, while a real unmount / blob change still releases the URL.
  Avoids set-state-in-effect; mirrors AppRenderer's deferred-disposal.
- atob: guard base64 decoding with tryDecodeBase64ToUtf8 /
  tryDecodeBase64ToBytes so a malformed blob from an external server
  degrades to the binary-content notice instead of throwing during render
  and taking down the whole preview panel.
- CsvTable: surface the 100-row display cap with a
  "Showing first N of M rows" caption (no silent truncation).
- Extract BinaryNotice into its own module so PdfFrame can reuse it
  without an import cycle.

Tests added for the StrictMode path, malformed-base64 fallbacks (PDF +
textual blob), the safe-decode helpers, and the truncation caption.

fix(web): block close on incomplete EMA config, not just an invalid issuer (closes #1546) (#1547)
Follow-up to #1545. The close-block only fired for an invalid issuer, so an
EMA config enabled with a valid issuer but a blank client ID was still silently
dropped on close by the persist gate — the same no-feedback bug, different
field.

- validateClientSettings gains a requireComplete mode that also flags the
  required IdP fields (issuer, clientId) when blank, with distinct per-field
  messages. Inline (as-you-type) validation is unchanged — required-but-blank
  errors only surface on reveal, so the form never nags about not-yet-filled
  fields.
- canPersistClientSettingsDraft is redefined in terms of that mode, so the
  persist gate and the close-time field errors share one source of truth.
- ClientSettingsModal.handleClose now blocks + reveals on ANY require-complete
  error (invalid issuer OR blank required field) and keeps the modal open. The
  form prop revealIssuerError becomes revealErrors and surfaces the client-ID
  error too. Escape hatch: disable enterprise IdP (an empty issuer no longer
  closes, since that's itself incomplete).

Tests cover the blank-clientId close path, fix-each-field, and disable-EMA
escape, plus requireComplete validation.

Guided-auth removal, OAuth smoke testing, and TUI/CLI support (#1531)
* refactor(web): update OAuth E2E tests to use new authentication method

- Replaced `runGuidedAuth` with `authenticate` in the InspectorClient OAuth end-to-end tests to support quick authentication with CIMD pre-registration.
- Updated comments to reflect the change in authentication method and its support for HTTP test metadata URLs.
- Ensured that the tests continue to validate the expected authorization URL after the change.

Additionally, imported `ensureCimdClientRegistration` in the OAuthManager to streamline client registration during the authentication process.

* Guided-auth removal, OAuth smoke testing, and TUI/CLI support

* Added CLI OAuth runner flags tests

* Added clarifying comment on port 0 binding

* README notes on TUI oauth callback port, prettier fixes for CLI tests

* CIMD validation uses inline like EMA IdP

* Fixed TUI test failures from merge

* test: bring 5 OAuth files over the 90 per-file coverage gate

The guided-auth-removal work added/touched several files that fell below
the repo's >=90 per-file coverage gate (npm run coverage). CI doesn't run
the gate (it's local-only), so validate + test:integration passed while
these gaps slipped through. Bring them all back over the line:

- core/auth/node/runner-oauth-callback.ts: test bad-URL/non-http-scheme
  throws, no-port->80 default, and IPv6 hostname bracketing. Annotate the
  provably-dead guards (empty host, out-of-range port, String(err)
  fallback, pathname "/" fallback) -- all rejected by new URL() upstream --
  with justified v8 ignore comments instead of lowering the gate.
- core/auth/cimd.ts: test the AS-doesn't-support-CIMD early return.
- core/react/useClientSettingsDraft.ts: test the functional-updater path,
  the stale-onChange-after-close prev===null guard, and the
  timer-fires-after-close value===null guard.
- ClientSettingsForm.tsx: test the CIMD checkbox toggle and CIMD URL clear.
- clients/tui/src/utils/oauthDisplay.ts: test static/dcr registration
  kinds, the expired IdP session, and the configured-scope/empty-scope
  branches of formatScopes.

npm run coverage now passes (exit 0) across web, cli, tui, launcher.

fix(web): defer issuer validation to onBlur, block silent-drop on close, require a real host URL (closes #1544) (#1545)
* fix(web): defer IdP issuer URL error to onBlur in Client Settings (#1544)

The Enterprise-Managed Authorization Issuer field validated its URL inline on
every render, so the 'Must be an http(s) URL' error nagged while the user was
still mid-typing (e.g. before 'https:/…' is complete).

Gate the issuer error display on an issuerTouched flag set onBlur; once
touched it tracks the value live, so the error clears as soon as a valid URL
is entered. The persist gate (canPersistClientSettingsDraft → validateClientSettings)
is unchanged and still validates independently, so an invalid issuer is never
written to the backend regardless of touched state.

Closes #1544

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(web): reveal issuer error and block close on invalid issuer (#1544)

Extend the on-blur deferral so an invalid issuer can't be silently dropped on
modal close (the auto-save flush would otherwise discard it with no feedback).

ClientSettingsModal now intercepts its close (X / Esc / overlay): if the issuer
is invalid it reveals the field error (via the form's revealIssuerError prop,
overriding on-blur gating) and keeps the modal open instead of closing. The
user can fix the URL or clear the field — an empty issuer is valid to leave.
The block lives in the modal (unit-tested) rather than App, so App.tsx stays a
thin flush+close that only runs when the close is allowed; the persist gate is
unchanged. Reveal state resets via the modal's open/close remount key.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(core): require a real host in isAbsoluteHttpUrl, not just an http(s) scheme (#1544)

The issuer validation used URL.canParse + an http(s) protocol check, which the
WHATWG parser accepts for bare/degenerate values that aren't actually usable
URLs — e.g. https://foo, https://example, https://. , https://.. all passed.

Tighten the shared rule (used by both the Zod config schema and the form's
inline validation): after parsing and the http(s) scheme check, require the
host to actually look like a host — localhost, an IPv6 literal, or a dotted
domain/IPv4 with at least two non-empty labels. Single-label, bare-dot, and
empty-label hosts are now rejected. Add core tests for the accepted
(dotted/IPv4/IPv6/localhost) and newly-rejected cases.

test(tui): extend coverage gate to Ink components + App.tsx (closes #1501) (#1538)
* test(tui): cover useSelectableList hook + leaf Ink components (#1501)

Add ink-testing-library and renderer-based tests for useSelectableList,
SelectableItem, and Tabs. Widen the vitest include glob to .test.tsx and
lift these files from the interim React-surface coverage exclusion. The
blanket src/components/**/*.tsx exclude is expanded into an explicit
per-file list so remaining components can be lifted incrementally.

* test(tui): add ink-scroll-view passthrough mock for renderer tests (#1501)

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(tui): add ink-form passthrough mock for modal renderer tests (#1501)

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(tui): cover all Ink tab + modal components via renderer tests (#1501)

Add ink-testing-library tests for the 12 Ink components (InfoTab, AuthTab,
ResourcesTab, PromptsTab, ToolsTab, NotificationsTab, HistoryTab,
RequestsTab, and the Tool/Resource/Prompt test modals + DetailsModal),
mounting them through the ink-scroll-view / ink-form passthrough doubles
and driving keypresses via stdin. Modal components render position:absolute
(empty frame under the test renderer) so their tests assert on behavior —
injected InspectorClient fakes and onClose — while the passthrough
ScrollView still mounts the inner JSX for coverage.

Lift these 12 components from the interim React-surface exclusion in
vitest.config.ts; only App.tsx remains excluded. All files clear the
uniform 90/90/90/90 per-file gate.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(tui): add App.tsx renderer-test harness + foundation tests (#1501)

Mock the full @inspector/core surface (InspectorClient, the 7 managed-state
classes, the 8 react hooks, transport + auth) behind a controllable harness,
plus the ink-scroll-view/ink-form passthroughs, so App renders under
ink-testing-library and its keyboard state machine can be driven via stdin.
Concurrent ink mounts share raw-mode stdin, so each render is unmounted in
afterEach. Foundation covers server-list nav, tab accelerators, connect/
disconnect, OAuth-tab gating, and connected-status rendering (~50% baseline).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(tui): cover App.tsx via mocked-core renderer tests; lift final exclusion (#1501)

Extend App.test.tsx to 67 tests driving the keyboard state machine, tab
content, modals, OAuth flows, and connect/disconnect across the controllable
@inspector/core mock. App.tsx now clears the 90/90/90/90 per-file gate
(94.6/90.6/94.5/96.6).

Remove the last React-surface exclusion (src/App.tsx) from
clients/tui/vitest.config.ts. The whole clients/tui/src tree is now under
the uniform per-file coverage gate with no React-surface exclusions,
completing the interim-scope lift from #1484.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(tui): raise stdout max-listeners in App test to silence warning (#1501)

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(tui): raise App.tsx branch coverage >90 and de-flake coverage runs (#1501)

Add targeted App.tsx tests for the OAuth handlers' non-Error throw arms
(quick onCallback, guided start/advance, run-to-completion) and a re-entrant
quick-auth guard, lifting App.tsx branch coverage 90.6% -> 91.48% for a
safer margin above the 90 gate.

Harden the App renderer tests against the heavier v8 coverage instrumentation,
where React+ink's multi-macrotask render scheduling races fixed ticks:
- press() now settles two ticks per key so focus/tab changes flush before the
  next key is routed (ink re-subscribes useInput on re-render);
- expectFrame()/waitUntil() poll for frame content and async flow state
  (callbackServer opts) instead of asserting after a single fixed tick;
- ResourcesTab's content-clear test polls for fetched content likewise.

Plain 'npm test' (the CI path) was already stable; this makes the local
coverage gate stable too (13/13 clean runs vs ~2/8 flaky before).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(tui): de-flake component renderer tests under slow CI (#1501)

CI flaked on AuthTab's 'renders quick auth results' under the plain test run:
its oauthFlowState is populated by a post-mount useEffect reading the
inspectorClient, and a single-macrotask tick can race that effect -> setState
-> re-render chain on a slow/loaded CI runner.

Make each component test file's tick() flush several macrotask cycles so such
chains settle deterministically before assertions (no test relies on precise
tick timing — no fake timers / debounce). App.test.tsx already polls via
expectFrame/waitUntil and passed CI, so it's unchanged.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test(tui): address review — shared setupFile for max-listeners, consume-once ink-form global (#1501)

Review follow-ups on #1538 (both non-blocking cleanups):

- Hoist process.std{out,in}.setMaxListeners into a shared vitest setupFile
  (__tests__/setup.ts) wired via setupFiles, so every renderer test file
  inherits it and the MaxListenersExceededWarning is silenced across the
  whole suite — not just App.test.tsx. Remove the per-file call.
- Make the ink-form double consume (clear) __INK_FORM_SUBMIT_VALUE__ on
  submit, eliminating the latent cross-test coupling on the shared global
  regardless of how the modal test files are organized.

No production code changed; suite + coverage gate stay green (App.tsx
94.8/91.5/94.5/96.6), and the warning no longer prints.

fix(web): remove mantine-border-animate, use green highlight border (#1536)
* fix(web): remove mantine-border-animate, use green highlight border (#1535)

The @gfazioli/mantine-border-animate dependency emitted a persistent
React "forwardRef render functions accept exactly two parameters"
warning on every page load. Remove the dependency entirely and replace
the freshly-added card's animated border with a green border.

- Drop @gfazioli/mantine-border-animate from clients/web (package + lock)
  and remove its styles.css import from main.tsx.
- Add a `highlighted` variant to the Card theme that draws a 2px green
  border, driven by a new --inspector-highlight-border token in App.css.
- ServerCard now selects the variant (disabled > highlighted) instead of
  wrapping in BorderAnimate; the BorderAnimate flex-wrapper `w="100%"`
  workaround is no longer needed.
- Update ServerCard/ServerListScreen tests to assert the highlighted
  variant instead of the removed BorderAnimate DOM.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* refactor(web): drop redundant Card props on ServerCard (#1535)

ThemeCard.defaultProps already sets withBorder and padding="lg", so the
explicit props on ServerCard's <Card> were redundant. Addresses review
feedback on PR #1536.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* docs(web): note highlighted Card variant relies on inherited withBorder (#1535)

Addresses a maintainability flag from the PR #1536 re-review: the
highlighted variant only sets borderColor/borderWidth and depends on the
withBorder:true default, so make that coupling explicit in a comment.

fix(web): validate IdP issuer URL inline in Client Settings (#1533) (#1534)
The Enterprise-Managed Authorization "Issuer" field accepted arbitrary
non-URL text and only failed at save time, surfacing a raw Zod issue array
in "Failed to save client settings" toasts.

- Inline field-level validation: the Issuer input shows a friendly error
  ("Must be an http(s) URL, like https://idp.example.com").
- canPersistClientSettingsDraft gates on issuer validity (deferring to
  validateClientSettings) so an invalid value is never sent to the backend.
- Extract isAbsoluteHttpUrl in core/client/config-parse so the Zod schema
  and the form share one http(s)-only URL rule.
- Harden the fallback save-error toast via formatClientConfigLoadError.

test: raise per-file coverage gate to 90 across all clients (closes #1271) (#1532)
* test(web): audit branch-coverage outliers, raise per-file gate to 70 (#1271)

The web per-file coverage gate had drifted red: the recently-landed EMA
auth feature (core/auth/ema/*) and ClientSettings components shipped
undertested, and the prior 50% branch floor let business-logic branches
go untested. CI does not run the coverage gate, so this accumulated.

Add tests to bring every failing file above the gate and push branch
coverage well past 70 across the board, then raise the per-file branches
threshold 50 -> 70 in clients/web/vite.config.ts.

- EMA core (emaFlow, resourceContext, jwt, wire): 50-88% -> 86-100% branch
- EMA OIDC/transport (idpOidc, tokenEndpoint, transportProvider): -> 97-100%
- oauthManager / discovery: 73-83% -> 88-92%
- ClientSettingsModal/Form, ConnectionInfoContent: 0-88% -> 96-100%
- useClientSettingsDraft / useEmaIdpLoginState hooks: 20% -> 100%
- TaskStatusBadge / SortableServerCard outliers: 50% -> 100%

Coverable branches reached by mocking useComputedColorScheme (dark theme),
dnd-kit useSortable (isDragging), and fetch/OIDC paths. Remaining sub-100
branches are genuinely-unreachable defensive guards or happy-dom-inherent
(portal / useMediaQuery / typeof window) and documented in test comments.

No source files changed. Global web branch coverage 88.73% -> 90.63%.
AGENTS.md updated; cli/tui/launcher stay at 50 (out of scope).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* test: raise per-file coverage gate to 90/90/90/90 across all clients

Follows the #1271 web branch-coverage audit (50 -> 70) by raising the
whole per-file gate to >=90 on all four dimensions — lines, statements,
functions, branches — for web, cli, tui, and launcher (core/ is measured
under the web suite). A codebase-wide audit added real tests for every
outlier and brought global coverage up across the board.

Config: all four vitest/vite coverage configs set to 90/90/90/90.
Two pure-type modules (core/mcp/import/types.ts, clients/web/server/
types.ts) added to the web coverage exclude list, matching the existing
type-only exclusions.

Tests: ~50 test files extended/created across core (auth, ema, mcp,
remote, state, storage, react), web components/screens/server, and the
cli/tui clients. Highlights: full EMA OAuth flow + transport coverage,
inspectorClient/remote server backfill, every Mantine control's handler
branches, and the cli unsupported-method / argv-fallback paths.

Genuinely-unreachable branches are annotated at the source with justified
`/* v8 ignore -- <reason> */` comments rather than lowering the gate:
happy-dom-inherent paths (Mantine portal, useMediaQuery, typeof window
SSR guards), React StrictMode effect replay, and provably-dead defensive
guards (?? fallbacks the types make impossible, Select.onChange values
outside the allowed list). No runtime logic changed; the only structural
edits are two behavior-preserving refactors (ResourceTemplatePanel hoists
the field value to a local so the ignore applies in JSX; ToolsScreen
swaps a ternary for an if) and prettier line-wrapping.

Also fixed a flaky real-timer debounce assertion in PromptArgumentsForm
(asserted an exact sibling-typing interleaving that raced the 300ms
debounce; now asserts the load-bearing fact — a non-empty fire-time
sibling capture).

AGENTS.md updated to describe the uniform 90 gate and the v8-ignore
policy. All four client coverage gates, root validate, storybook (370),
and smoke pass.

* test(web): make connect-crash SSE reader stop on the terminal event

`readSseEvents` looped until the server closed the stream (`done`). The
server closes the events stream immediately after writing the terminal
`transport_error`, but under the heavy parallel scheduler pressure of a
full `coverage` run (v8 instrumentation across all workers) that close
can lag far enough behind the event to trip the 30s test timeout — a
hang, not a wrong result. This made the test intermittently fail under
`npm run coverage` (it passed in isolation and under CI's lighter
`test:integration`).

Stop reading as soon as the terminal `transport_error` event arrives
(cancelling the reader) instead of waiting only for `done`. That event is
always the last one the session queue emits, so nothing is lost, and the
test no longer depends on stream-close timing. The `done` break is kept
for any stream that closes first.

Verified green across two consecutive full `npm run test:coverage` runs
(3094 tests) where it previously hung, plus isolation (~0.5s).

fix(web): keep server cards a fixed height (#1528) (#1530)
* fix(web): keep server cards a fixed height (#1528)

Two causes made server cards ragged-height:

1. The command/URL box wrapped long content onto multiple lines, growing
   the card. Add a `nowrap` Code variant (single line, ellipsis on
   overflow) and a `wrap` prop on ContentViewer (default true); ServerCard
   passes `wrap={false}`. The full value stays available via the copy
   button.

2. At ~1000-1500px the grid packed cards narrow enough that a connected
   card's action row (Clone/Edit/Remove + Connection Info/Settings) wrapped
   and stacked. Switch the SimpleGrid to container queries with thresholds
   that keep every card >= ~500px wide at each column count, so it drops to
   fewer/wider columns instead of wrapping.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(web): address review — correct threshold comment, single-line note, title tooltip

- Correct the column-threshold comment in ServerListScreen: the values
  (1040/1560) use N gaps, not N−1; restate the formula accurately so the
  numbers aren't "fixed" to match a wrong formula later.
- Note in the ContentViewer `wrap` JSDoc that `false` is for single-line
  values only (nowrap collapses embedded newlines).
- Add a native `title` tooltip to the non-wrapping Code box so a clipped
  command/URL is readable on hover, not only via copy. Covered by tests.

feat(web): gate header tabs on advertised server capabilities (#1516) (#1520)
Header navigation tabs now appear only when the connected server
advertises the corresponding server capability (from the MCP
`initialize` result `capabilities`), instead of being shown
unconditionally or proxied through list content.

Previously the Tools and Logs tabs were always shown when connected,
regardless of whether the server advertised `tools` / `logging`. The
content-gated tabs (Prompts/Resources/Tasks) only appeared correct
because an unsupported capability yields an empty list — but a server
advertising a capability with a currently-empty list would have its
tab wrongly hidden.

InspectorView.availableTabs now gates each server-capability tab on
the matching field of `initializeResult.capabilities` (already
threaded from App via the handshake):

  Tools     -> capabilities.tools
  Logs      -> capabilities.logging
  Prompts   -> capabilities.prompts
  Resources -> capabilities.resources
  Tasks     -> capabilities.tasks
  Apps -> capabilities.tools AND >=1 app tool (Apps is a filtered
               view of tools, so it keeps its content check)

Client-side sections are never gated on server capabilities: Servers
and History are always available, and Network stays transport-gated
(hidden for stdio). Tabs recompute live when reconnecting to a server
with a different capability set.

Tests: reworked the content-gating component tests into
capability-gating tests (including the Tools-hidden regression, Logs
present/absent, capability-present-but-empty-list, History-always, and
a reconnect-recomputes test). Connected story/fixtures advertise a
full capability set so the Connected story still shows every tab.

fix(web): re-enable other server cards when a connection errors (#1521) (#1522)
* fix(web): re-enable other server cards when a connection errors (#1521)

When a server's connection settled into the terminal `error` state, the
other server cards stayed dimmed/`inert` (Connect toggle + actions
disabled), so the user couldn't interact with any other server.

`ServerCard` dims any card whose id differs from `activeServer`, and App
clears `activeServerId` only on the InspectorClient `disconnect` event.
A terminal `error` (a connect-time handshake failure, or a mid-session
transport `onerror` that fires without an `onclose`) sets status to
`error` but never dispatches `disconnect`, so `activeServerId` lingers
and every other card stays inert. We can't clear `activeServerId` on
error because the errored card's status, the connected header, and the
connection-info modal are all keyed off it.

Fix: dim the other cards only while the active session is actually live
(connecting or connected). InspectorView now passes the active id to the
ServerListScreen as the dim source only when `connectionStatus` is
`connecting`/`connected`; once it reaches a terminal state the others
re-enable. The errored card still shows its real status via the merged
`servers` list, which keys off the real `activeServer`.

* refactor(web): reuse isTerminalStatus for card-dim gate (#1521 review)

Replace the hand-rolled `sessionLive` check with the existing
`isTerminalStatus` predicate (the #1490 teardown convention) so the
dim gate stays aligned with the canonical "session is over" branching
and can't desync from a future status addition.

feat(web,core): enterprise-managed authorization (EMA) (#1509) (#1512)
Adds enterprise-managed authorization (EMA): browser-side IdP login + RFC 8693 token-exchange and JWT-bearer resource-token mint, per-server EMA opt-in in Server Settings, IdP config in Client Settings, and IdP clientSecret keychain storage. Includes the v2/main merge and review follow-ups (400 on malformed client config; normalizeIdpIssuer import consolidation).

feat(web,core): persist & edit STDIO cwd/env in Server Settings (#1515) (#1518)
* feat(web,core): edit STDIO cwd/env in Server Settings (#1515)

Persist and edit a STDIO server's working directory and environment
variables through the Server Settings modal.

- Add `env` (pair-array, mirrors headers) and `cwd?` to
  `InspectorServerSettings`.
- `storedFieldsToInspectorSettings` lifts the stdio config's `env`/`cwd`
  into settings so the modal can show them; they stay on `config` for the
  transport. Add `envRecordToPairs` / `envPairsToRecord` helpers.
- `env`/`cwd` remain config-owned on disk (the standard mcp.json location):
  the `/api/servers` PUT route writes an edited settings.env/cwd back onto
  the stored stdio config on a settings-only patch (supporting clear), and a
  config-providing PUT keeps config authoritative. `validateSettings`
  accepts `env`/`cwd`.
- Server Settings modal: Working Directory field in Options and a dedicated
  collapsible Environment Variables section — both STDIO-only.
- Registry server.json import sets no `cwd` (the schema has no
  working-directory concept); documented in serverJson.ts.

Tests: serverList converter round-trip, route write-through (set/clear,
config-precedence, non-stdio no-leak, validation), import preservation
(client-config cwd, registry cwd skip), and form/modal component coverage.

* fix(web): preserve config env/cwd when a settings PUT omits them (#1515 review)

Address Claude's review of #1518.

- `/api/servers` PUT now distinguishes an *absent* `env`/`cwd` (preserve the
  stored value) from an explicit empty list / blank string (clear). Previously
  `validateSettings` coerced a missing `env` to `[]`, so an env-unaware caller
  patching only a timeout would silently wipe the server's env/cwd. The
  integrated web client always resends the full GET-rehydrated env, so it was
  unaffected — this protects the raw HTTP contract.
- `validateSettings` reports `envProvided`/`cwdProvided`; the write-through only
  touches `config.env`/`cwd` for fields the caller actually sent.
- On the omit path, rehydrate the untouched env's keychain values onto the
  rebuilt entry so the secret reconcile re-persists them rather than sweeping
  the blanked-on-disk keys out of the keychain.
- Minor: guard the stdio cast in `mcpConfigToServerEntries` on the transport
  type instead of casting unconditionally.
- Test: settings-only PUT omitting env/cwd preserves config keys + cwd + the
  keychain secret.
