8f4aa7f8af fix(web): reject drafts whose digits or types would not survive being sent
Copilot's seventh pass, three comments, all the same class: the editor showing
one value while the wire carries another.

- `JSON.parse` rounds a whole number past 2^53−1 to the nearest double, so a
draft reading `{"id":9007199254740993}` submits `…992`. New
`hasRoundedInteger`, applied by all four JSON-draft parsers — the raw
arguments editor, `SchemaJsonField`, the Edit-and-replay modal, and
`parseJsonObjectDraft`, which Copilot did not flag but shares the defect.

It is narrower than "unsafe integer": it also requires the number's shortest
form to be written out in full, because JS stringifies from 1e21 upward in
exponent form and such a value was typed that way — `{"n":1e308}` is a
legitimate `_meta` value that `parseJsonObjectDraft`'s tests already pin as
accepted. It still refuses the rare full-form integer that happens to be
exactly representable, erring toward refusing a sendable value rather than
misreporting an unsendable one — the trade `toNumericValue` already makes.

- `getPrompt` runs `convertPromptArguments`, which JSON-stringifies every
non-string argument, so `{"count":2}` leaves as `{"count":"2"}` while the
editor still shows a number. `reshapedReplayParam` now rejects a non-string
prompt argument. Not a workaround: the spec types
  `GetPromptRequest.params.arguments` as `Record<string, string>`, so a string
is the only thing a prompt argument can be. `tools/call` is untouched —
`callTool` sends its arguments as given.

0e9069a78d fix(web): reject a reshaped replay param, and forward a declared JSON body
Copilot's sixth pass generated no new inline comments; both suppressed ones
were right.

- `arguments` surviving the key check is not the same as being sent as
  written. `replayProtocolRequest` applies `arguments ?? {}`, so a `null` shown
in the editor reaches the wire as `{}`; an array or scalar is not nullish and
rides the cast into a call whose type says it is a named-argument record.
`reshapedReplayParam` rejects both before Send. `name` and `uri` are
deliberately not checked there — the dispatch already refuses those with a
reason the caller shows as a toast, so they fail visibly rather than
  silently.

- `NetworkEntry` never forwarded the body's content type, so the Network tab
could not reach the declared-JSON branch at all and a malformed
`application/json` response read as plain text with no sign it was meant to
be JSON. Forwarded — but only when the declared type *is* JSON: passing it
wholesale would also route an HTML body into the sandboxed frame and a CSV
one into a table, which is a change to what the Network tab is and not one
  this makes.

The `NetworkEntry > Auth Success` play function moved off `textContent` for
body assertions. Ace repaints its rows on an animation frame and virtualizes
them, so reading the DOM straight after Reveal returned the previous rows
under load — it passed in isolation and failed in the full run. It now reads
the editors' documents alongside the DOM text, and waits.

5abe289caa fix(web): seed Edit-and-replay from what replay sends, name each JSON editor
Copilot's fourth pass, one inline plus two suppressed. All three were right.

- The modal presented the whole captured frame as editable, but replay does
not re-send a frame: it dispatches through the typed InspectorClient
methods, whose signatures have no room for `_meta` (a captured `tools/call`
carries `_meta.progressToken`) or for any list-request key but `cursor`. So
editing `_meta` and pressing Send transmitted something other than what was
on screen. `replayableParams` now projects the frame down to what the
dispatcher actually reads, the modal seeds from that, and it names what was
left out rather than leaving the difference to be discovered. The projection
lives beside the dispatch switch because the two are halves of one contract.

- `ContentViewer` gains `jsonLabel`, so a read-only JSON editor can say what
it holds. Every one of them announced "JSON content", and an expanded
Protocol entry has two while the list has many pairs — leaving a screen
reader with indistinguishable textboxes and only the visible headings to
tell them apart. Protocol entries now name theirs per method and direction,
  Network entries per request/response body.

- `isJsonDocument` became `formatJsonDocument`, returning the formatted text
instead of a boolean. The heuristic path parsed the payload to decide and
then parsed it again to render; Protocol and Network hand over serialized
bodies as untyped text and are not virtualized, so a long history paid twice
  per payload per render.

1a2a36f0b8 feat(web): use the Ace JSON editor everywhere, and restore the raw-JSON toggle
Extracts the Ace integration #2094 carried inline into a shared
`elements/JsonEditor`, and renders it on every surface where the web
client types or displays JSON.

The element is deliberately text in, text out. The two editing contracts
above it disagree about what an unparseable draft means — JsonObjectInput
keeps the last valid object and says nothing to its parent, SchemaJsonField
reports `undefined` and blocks submission (#2020) — so parsing, and the
draft/value split that goes with it, stays with each caller.

Surfaces: SchemaJsonField (inherited by all four SchemaForm consumers), a
new "Edit as JSON" switch for the whole arguments object, the server.json
File Contents box, the raw JSON-RPC request box, ContentViewer's JSON
branch (read-only, inherited by its eleven consumers), and a new "Edit and
replay" modal on a Protocol entry.

Ace read-only replaces the CodeHighlight JSON path and the Prism `json`
grammar loader is dropped: folding, not colorization, is what it adds, and
two highlighters for one language drift. `wrap={false}` callers and untyped
text that only looks like JSON keep the plain renderer.

4b119c9a95 chore(web): address Copilot review on #2127
- Move REPLAYABLE_PROTOCOL_METHODS / isReplayableProtocolMethod out of
  components/groups/protocolUtils.ts into utils/replayableProtocolMethods.ts.
It is a pure predicate over a string set, so by the project's own lib-vs-utils
rule it never belonged under components/ — and keeping it there was what made
lib/protocolReplay.ts import 'up' into the component graph. Both consumers now
import from utils/; the predicate keeps its own test.

- Give replayProtocolRequest an exported ReplayClient = Pick<InspectorClient, ...>
naming the nine methods it calls, so a caller (and the test) can satisfy the
real contract instead of casting a stub into a whole client.

- Rebuild the protocolReplay fixtures as plain typed MessageEntry values. The
double cast had been hiding a real defect: MessageEntry.timestamp is a Date
and the fixture passed a number, so the assertion confirmed a shape
  messagesToLogEntries cannot produce.

- Replace the window casts in authToken.test.ts with Reflect.set /
Reflect.deleteProperty. No 'as unknown as' remains in either test.

- Drop the stale 'floats top-right' sentence on ReAuthBannerBar, which moved
verbatim and arrived contradicting the paragraph below it.

Declined: re-homing ReAuthBannerBar's transform/zIndex as a theme variant.
'styles' is the Styles API rather than an inline style, Mantine exposes neither
property as a prop, and a styling change is out of scope for a phase whose
safety argument is that nothing was edited.

b6ed5072f4 chore(web): move App.tsx's module-level block into files (#2127)
Phase 0 of #2126. Lines 239-668 of clients/web/src/App.tsx were already at
module scope — helpers, formatters, constants, and the toast subcomponents,
none of which close over component state — so the whole block moves verbatim
into files. App.tsx drops from 5,303 to 4,892 lines with no behavior change.

Placement follows the lib-vs-utils rule in AGENTS.md: pure computation to
utils/, anything touching the environment to lib/.

EMPTY_SETTINGS and the two loose toast ids deliberately do NOT land in a new
top-level src/constants.ts, which the issue suggested: the web coverage
include is a whitelist naming components/hooks/theme/lib/utils/server, so a
module there would have fallen out of the >=90 gate silently. They go under
utils/ instead.

ReAuthBannerBar is in the block but not in the issue's table — it was added
after the issue was written (#2108). It moves to components/groups/ReAuthBanner/,
beside the banner it wraps.

Every new module is at 100% on all four coverage dimensions. Two v8 ignores,
each justified in place: getAuthToken's typeof-window guard (a happy-dom
inherent path) and replayProtocolRequest's provably-dead default case.

fix(web): move the app origin off 6276, bound the publish route
Copilot review round 2 on #2100, plus a collision the review did not find.

The default app-origin port was 6276 — which is already
RUNNER_OAUTH_CALLBACK_DEFAULT_PORT, the CLI/TUI loopback OAuth callback.
That port is fixed precisely so an OAuth app can pre-register
http://127.0.0.1:6276/oauth/callback, which makes it the one listener here
that cannot move when something takes it first. A running --web would hold
it and break a later --cli/--tui OAuth flow at its registered redirect URI,
and docs/mcp-app-review.md has those two running side by side. This
listener has a documented dynamic fallback, so this listener yields: the
default is now 6278 (6277 skipped — v1's retired proxy port, which the
migration guide tells people to stop forwarding). A test asserts the two
defaults stay distinct.

Review comments:

- POST /api/app-document now applies hono's bodyLimit BEFORE parsing. The
8MiB check ran after c.req.json() had buffered and parsed the whole
request, and bounded only `html` — so bulk in `csp`, or in keys the route
never reads, was fully materialized before the 413.
- `csp` is validated as an HTTP header value and length-bounded. The
controller hands it to res.writeHead() verbatim, where Node throws
ERR_INVALID_CHAR synchronously — inside the handler for a later,
unrelated request, outside this route's error handling.
- The app-origin port now propagates everywhere the other two do: the CLI
--print-handoff port-forward command (and its test), the Dockerfile's ENV
and EXPOSE, and the remote-review SSH recipe in docs/mcp-app-review.md.
Without it an app declaring _meta.ui.domain is unreachable through every
  documented remote workflow.

fa441da85f
fix(web): harden the app-origin paths and correct three docs
Copilot review round 1 on #2100.

- POST /api/app-document: `null` and `[1,2]` are valid JSON, so the
destructure that followed threw OUTSIDE the parse try/catch and turned a
malformed body into a 500 instead of the documented 400.
- app-origin controller: the error handler cleared `server` but not
`origin`, and `publish` gates on `origin` — so an error after a successful
listen kept minting URLs on a dead port and the browser never took the
srcdoc fallback. Clear both, and drop the now-unfetchable documents.
- sandbox proxy: drop a stale `srcdoc` before navigating to a dedicated
origin (srcdoc wins over src), and restore the opaque-origin posture —
  strip `allow-same-origin`, reset `innerOrigin` — before assigning `srcdoc`
on the fallback path. Not reachable today (each render remounts the
iframe), but the cost of being wrong about that later is an isolation
  boundary.
- publishAppDocument tests: replace two `as unknown as Response` casts with
  real `Response`s.
- docs: `frame-ancestors` admits the proxy AND the Inspector page (every
ancestor is checked); the shared helper falls back to loopback, not
`'none'`; the showcase origin is `127.0.0.1`, the default bind address.
- tests: null/array body, post-listen error, and both factories receiving a
  working `publishAppDocument`.

feat(web): honor _meta.ui.domain with a dedicated app origin
An MCP App is rendered by handing its HTML to the sandbox proxy as
`srcdoc`, in a frame sandboxed without `allow-same-origin` — the #1565
isolation model. That gives the app document an opaque origin, so every
request it makes carries `Origin: null` and no CORS / OAuth-callback /
API-key allowlist can admit it. `_meta.ui.domain` is the spec field a
server uses to ask its host for a stable, dedicated origin, and it was
being dropped on the floor.

The field is explicitly host-dependent and the Inspector owns no domain
infrastructure, so it treats any non-empty value as a request rather than
an address, and answers with a real loopback origin on its own listener
(MCP_APP_ORIGIN_PORT, default 6276). One shared origin, path-keyed per
document: that delivers what the field is for without minting a port or
DNS name per app, and is therefore not a per-app isolation boundary.

The inner frame is granted `allow-same-origin` on this path only, which
is what makes the origin real. It is not a #1565 regression: the listener
is on its own port, so the app stays cross-origin to both the proxy and
the Inspector. The proxy refuses the grant if the URL's origin equals its
own, and the grant is never reachable from the server-supplied `sandbox`
string, which is still stripped. The per-app CSP is delivered as a real
response header there rather than only as a <meta>.

Every failure path falls back to the default srcdoc render with a console
warning naming the field, rather than blanking the app.

Also fixes a pre-existing `tsc -b` break on v2/main (useServers.test.tsx
passed `metadata: []` where `RequestMetadata` is expected), which has had
CI red since #2087 and blocks the pre-push gate.

af3d940e78 fix(auth): stop a config-only PUT deleting stored secrets (#2084)
Round 24 produced no inline comments again. Of the three suppressed items, one
is a pre-existing data-loss bug that predates #1950 entirely.

**Editing a server's config deletes its stored OAuth client secret — from the
keychain, not only from the stores this PR adds.** Filed as #2084 and fixed
here, since the review surfaced it and these lines were already changing.

`useServers.updateServer` deliberately sends `{ id, config }` with no
`settings`, so a config-only save cannot wipe persisted settings. The route
reads that as `preserve` and re-derives settings from the *on-disk* entry —
which by #1356's design no longer holds the secrets. The submitted secret set
is therefore empty, `expectedSecretFields` always lists the OAuth slot, and
the reconcile deleted a value the user never touched. The rename branch was
given `mergeRenameKeychainSecrets` for exactly this reason; the in-place
branch never got the equivalent.

The first fix was too broad — skip obsolete deletion whenever the intent is
`preserve` — and an existing test caught it immediately: stdio `env` is part
of `config`, so a config-only PUT that drops a key really has retired that
secret. Obsolete detection is per-field now:

- **`env:` fields** are implied by the entry's shape, so the new entry no
longer expecting one is proof it was retired.
- **The OAuth slot** is implied by nothing, so absence counts as "cleared"
only when the caller spoke about settings at all.

Both directions are tested, and the pre-existing env-key reconcile test still
passes.

Also:

- `refreshingPersist` moves to `lib/`. The combinator computes nothing, but
what it exists to do is sequence side effects, which is the `lib` half of
the repo's split; I judged it the other way on the grounds that the
function is a pure higher-order one, and the rule is about what a module is
  *for*.
- `SecretStorageInfo.plaintext` is documented as file-only and *omitted*
elsewhere rather than "always false", which is what the producer does and
what `usableSecretStorage` enforces — the old wording invited a consumer to
build the exact shape the web client discards.

Full `npm run ci` green, staged tree verified first.

0f3ee265fc fix(apps): bind app elicitations to the connection that made them
Two of the three findings; the third is answered in the PR thread.

**A replaced client could still enqueue.** The one-shot sweep only rejected what
was already queued, but the outgoing `InspectorClient` disconnects
asynchronously and can enqueue during its own teardown — and that late entry
would be rendered by a factory bound to the REPLACEMENT client, reading its
resource and answering through a different server. Requests now belong to a
session: each constructed client gets one, closing it rejects that session's
entries AND refuses anything it queues afterwards, and another session's
entries are untouched.

**The advertisement no longer has to guess.** Whether a sandbox exists is only
known once `/api/config` resolves, and the answer is baked into the client at
construction — guessing "available" over-claims, guessing "unavailable" strands
the whole session on the native form despite having a sandbox. The connect path
now awaits that fetch (already in flight since mount, so no human ever waits;
it only orders a deep-link auto-connect racing the same page load), after which
an absent `sandboxUrl` means confirmed-absent.

7c77c2b15f fix(apps): address review of app-rendered elicitations
Eight findings from the Copilot review, all accepted.

Ownership across connections was the substantive one, in three parts. A
mid-session transport close reaches teardown only through
`clearAndAnnouncePendingPeerRequests`, whose emptiness check looked at the
native queues alone — so a lone app elicitation survived a dropped connection
with its modal still open; the check now counts the active set too. The web
bridge factory resolves its client at call time, so an entry queued by a
replaced `InspectorClient` could rebuild against the *next* one and answer
through a different server; the host now drops every entry synchronously on
the swap (`AppElicitationController.failAll`) rather than racing core's
awaited teardown. And the request id was only monotonic within one client, so
each replacement client's first request was `app-elicitation-1` — settling
that id could resolve the wrong server's request. It now carries a
per-instance prefix.

Result validation now parses the whole value with `ElicitResultSchema` before
the requested-schema check, instead of inspecting `action` by hand: a
`{ action: "decline", content: { x: {} } }` used to pass, though the standard
result permits only primitives and string arrays in `content`.

The dialog's accessible name now includes the request id and the prompt — two
concurrent elicitations can be for the same app URI, and the previous name
made those indistinguishable, which is what the comment beside it claimed to
prevent.

`observeAppCapabilities` takes a minimal structural `onmessage` contract
(generic over the message type, since a handler typed for a narrower message
is not assignable to one typed for `unknown`), removing the double cast at the
call site.

`smoke:web:elicit` now fails on an uncaught page error after a successful
drive, and captures the async half of that class off the console channel, as
its two sibling smokes do — it could otherwise print OK over a broken bundle.

Adds the tests each fix needs, including the two the review asked for
directly: that `advertiseElicitation` reaches the `AppBridge` constructor, and
that it is absent by default.

08fc20a22d feat(apps): negotiated app-rendered form elicitations
Let a server hand a form `elicitation/create` to an MCP App and return the
app's ordinary `ElicitResult`, with the native elicitation form as the
fallback on every failure.

No second extension, no custom method, and no custom result shape: the only
new wire surface is a nested `elicitation` flag on the existing
`io.modelcontextprotocol/ui` extension on each side, plus
`_meta.ui.resourceUri` on the request. App rendering is selected only when
all four gates hold — client `elicitation.form`, client MCP Apps MIME type,
the nested `elicitation` setting on BOTH peers, and a valid absolute `ui://`
URI on the request.

Only the web client advertises the nested client-side setting, and only
because it has a sandbox renderer: supplying
`InspectorClientOptions.appElicitation` is what opts a client in, so CLI and
TUI keep advertising the MIME type without ever claiming they can resolve an
elicitation through an app.

Routing lives in the one funnel both entry points already use
(`enqueuePendingElicitation`), so the inbound handler and the MRTR driver
cannot diverge. Ownership is request-scoped — a per-request id keys the
renderer, iframe and bridge — so two concurrent elicitations can never
resolve through each other's bridges. An explicit `decline`/`cancel` is a
completed elicitation and goes back to the server; everything else (absent or
malformed metadata, resource/sandbox/bridge failure, an app with no
elicitation capability, a timeout, an invalid result or one that fails the
requested schema) falls back.

The Inspector speaks the ext-apps#733 / SEP-3118 wire protocol but cannot yet
consume its helpers — the released `@modelcontextprotocol/ext-apps` (1.7.5)
predates that PR. `core/mcp/appElicitation.ts` and
`AppRenderer/requestAppElicitation.ts` mirror it exactly and are marked for
deletion once a release containing it ships. One consequence needed its own
seam: ext-apps 1.7.5 parses the view's `ui/initialize` through a schema that
strips `elicitation`, so an app that correctly advertises it would look like
one that did not, silently turning every negotiated elicitation into a
fallback. `AppRenderer/appCapabilities.ts` records the raw frame instead, and
prefers the bridge's own value once it carries the key.

`AppRenderer` now takes an `AppRenderSource` union rather than a `Tool`, so
the same renderer and bridge factory serve an App tool and an elicitation
without either faking the other's shape.

Adds the public fixture (`app_choose_option` + a self-contained
`ui://demo/choose-option.html` app covering accept/decline/cancel), its two
showcase configs, and `smoke:web:elicit`, which drives the negotiated path
end to end in headless Chromium and then the same tool against a server that
never advertised the capability, asserting the native form takes it.

63b37e05ec fix(web): drop a pre-#2001 selectedToolName on OAuth resume
A resume snapshot written before this change carries `selectedToolName`
where `ToolsUiState` now expects `selectedToolKey`. The blind cast in
`restoreTabUiFromSnapshot` carried it through as a stray field that would be
re-serialized on the next redirect. Route the Tools entry through a
`normalizeToolsUi` that drops it explicitly instead.

The name is deliberately not migrated to a row key: a snapshot lives for one
redirect (so this only arises when the app is upgraded mid-flight), and the
tools list is fetched after reconnect, long after restore — there is nothing
to resolve the name against. The selection is lost; search, form values, and
the run-as-task toggle restore intact.

ab40fb621a fix(web): key tool selection by row identity, not name
#1961 keyed the sidebar's React children by source position, but everything
downstream still identified a tool by `tool.name`. With a `tools/list` that
repeats a name, both copies highlighted at once, the click guard made the
other copy a no-op, and `tools.find((t) => t.name === …)` always resolved to
the first — so a later copy rendered but could never be opened.

Thread the row key through selection instead:

- `utils/toolUtils.ts` now owns `toolRowKey` (moved out of ToolControls) and
adds `findToolByRowKey`, which compares computed keys rather than parsing
one so the two can't drift.
- `ToolControls`: `selectedName` → `selectedKey`; the highlight and the click
guard compare keys, and `onSelectTool` emits the row key.
- `ToolsScreen`: `ToolsUiState.selectedToolName` → `selectedToolKey`, with
both lookups going through `findToolByRowKey`. Renamed through
  `screenUiState.ts` and `App.tsx`'s `onToolsUiChange`.

`onCallTool` still sends `selectedTool.name` — the duplicated name is the
genuine wire identity; only the UI identity needed to be unique.

Also prefixes the excluded (SEP-2243) rows' keys: they render into the same
`Stack` as the list rows but index within their own list, so an excluded tool
sharing a name and index with a listed one collided in the key space.

that sat on the wrong side of it.

Moves (source + co-located test):

- utils/browserTabVisibility -> lib (registers visibilitychange listeners)

Borderline audits (kept in place): pendingReauth (pure type declarations),

* refactor(web): address review — fix stale paths, move customHeaders, one-way arrows (#1776)

Responds to the @claude review on PR #1784:

1. Stale path references (fixed): update the four in-repo pointers left at
   pre-move paths — specification/v2_auth_mid_session.md (oauthResume,
browserTabVisibility → lib/), and the two load-bearing sandbox security
   comments (sandbox_proxy.html, sandbox-controller.ts → src/utils/sandbox-csp).

2. lib/types/customHeaders (moved): it's pure (types + pure transforms), the
   rule's clearest counterexample. Moved lib/types/customHeaders.{ts,test.ts} →
utils/ (no external importers; only its own test) and removed the
undocumented lib/types/ subdir. Documented that utils/ is the home for pure
shared domain types + their constructors — no separate types/ bucket.

3. One-way arrows (item 3): declare OAuthResumeAuthKind in utils/pendingReauth
and re-export it from lib/oauthResume, so the only cross-directory arrow now
points lib → utils. Codified that invariant in AGENTS.md.

Wording nit: AGENTS.md + README now state diagnostic logging
(console.warn/error) doesn't count as a side effect for the utils rule.

* docs: address review round 2 — stale customHeaders refs, rule wording (#1776)

Doc-only follow-up to the round-2 @claude review on PR #1784 (no code changed):

1. Stale paths (same class as round-1 item 1): the customHeaders move left
three references to the deleted lib/types/customHeaders.ts path in
   specification/ (v2_ux_interfaces_phase_0_4_inventory.md,
   v2_ux_interfaces_plan.md ×2) — updated to utils/customHeaders.ts.

2. customHeaders anchor: note in AGENTS.md that its shape is staged for
ServerSettingsForm (per v2_ux_interfaces_plan.md), so its zero-importer
state reads as intentional rather than rot; kept as the no-types/-bucket
illustration and led the anchor list with load-bearing modules.

3. Type-only-import clause: split the conflated clause — a type-only import
   (pendingReauth) and re-exporting core's pure functions/constants
(oauthUx/oauthFlow) are distinct reasons to stay in utils; what makes a
module lib is wrapping core's stateful runtime. Fixed in both AGENTS.md
   and the web README.

Cosmetic: re-padded the v2_auth_mid_session.md table row to column width.

* docs: address review round 3 — scope the "no types/ bucket" claim (#1776)

Doc-only follow-up to the round-3 @claude review on PR #1784 (no code changed):

1. "no separate types/ bucket" overreached: clients/web/src/types/ does exist
   (navigation.ts + react-syntax-highlighter .d.ts ambient stubs wired via
tsconfig.app.json paths). Scoped the claim in both AGENTS.md and the web
README to "no types/ sub-bucket INSIDE lib/utils", and noted src/types/ is
for ambient .d.ts stubs, not domain types.

2. README example list drifted from AGENTS.md's round-2 load-bearing anchors —
realigned it (inspectorTabs/mcpNetworkHeaders, dropped the zero-importer
   customHeaders from the headline list).

3. Clarified v2_ux_interfaces_plan.md:185 so the v2 path reads as the copy's
destination, not as the v1.5 source location.

Follow-up filed as #1785 (board Todo): src/types/navigation.ts InspectorTab is
dead and duplicates utils/inspectorTabs.ts — kept out of this pure-move PR.

* docs: address review round 4 — reconcile src/types/ claim with #1785 (#1776)

Doc-only follow-up to the round-4 @claude review on PR #1784 (no code changed):

The round-3 scope fix overshot: it asserted src/types/ holds "not domain types
at all", but the dead navigation.ts InspectorTab is a plain-.ts domain type
still living there, and specification/v2_ux_interfaces_plan.md:181-182 actively
prescribes placing InspectorTab there — so AGENTS.md and that spec doc gave
opposite guidance about the same directory.

- AGENTS.md + web README: softened to "not the place for new domain types"
and added a parenthetical that the one lingering domain type (dead
navigation.ts) is tracked for removal in #1785; until then a pure domain
type belongs in utils/, not src/types/.
- v2_ux_interfaces_plan.md:181: marked the tab-enum placement guidance as
superseded by #1785 (live type is InspectorTabId in utils/inspectorTabs.ts).

Self-heals on merge of #1785.

* docs: address review round 5 — fix garbled #1785 clause, restructure utils rule (#1776)

Doc-only follow-up to the round-5 @claude review on PR #1784 (no code changed):

1. Grammar (item 1): the round-4 #1785 clause read "superseding [#1785] will
remove it" — a participle with no subject. Reworded to "the dead
navigation.ts InspectorTab, which #1785 will remove".

2. Readability (item 2): the src/utils/ bullet had accreted into a single
~1,400-char blob across five review rounds. Promoted the carve-outs to
scannable sub-bullets (Domain types / Diagnostic logging / Importing from
core) and lifted the src/types/ note out to its own line, since it's a
statement about a sibling directory, not about utils.

AGENTS.md only; the README's parallel sentence was already clean.

* docs+config: address review round 6 — correct the coverage-glob claim (#1776)

Responds to the round-6 @claude review on PR #1784:

1. "no build/coverage glob" was factually wrong (should-fix): the web coverage
include in clients/web/vite.config.ts DOES enumerate src/lib/** and
src/utils/**. The conclusion (a move between them is coverage-neutral)
survives, but the reason was wrong. Reworded both AGENTS.md and the web
README to say nothing *enforces* the boundary — no path alias, and the
include lists both dirs so a move is coverage-neutral — plus the important
whitelist caveat: a module outside components/lib/utils/server falls out of
   the ≥90 gate entirely.

2. Removed a pre-existing duplicate glob in vite.config.ts (src/lib/**/*.{ts,tsx}
appeared twice, lines 161 and 163). Inert (vitest de-dupes) but it sat three
lines from the config the doc now describes.

Nits: gave the README bullet the same round-5 sub-bullet restructure as
AGENTS.md, and made its #1785 reference a real markdown link (bare #N doesn't
autolink in rendered repo markdown).

npm run ci green (config change re-verified through coverage + smokes + Storybook).

web: Wave 2 — spec-conformant MCP Apps host (rollup of #1565–#1572) (#1660)
* web: sandbox hardening — opaque-origin inner frame, srcdoc-only, frame-ancestors

Harden the MCP Apps sandbox isolation model:

- The inner (untrusted-widget) iframe is sandboxed WITHOUT `allow-same-origin`
(default "allow-scripts allow-forms") and any server-supplied sandbox value
has `allow-same-origin` stripped case-insensitively, so the widget runs under
an opaque origin and cannot reach the proxy's DOM to bypass its own CSP via
  the parent realm.
- Widget delivery is `srcdoc`-only (no document.write), which respects the
  opaque origin.
- The relay accepts the inner frame's "null" origin with
`event.source === inner.contentWindow` as the unforgeable identity check.
- sandbox-controller.ts serves the proxy with
  `Content-Security-Policy: frame-ancestors http://127.0.0.1:* http://localhost:*`;
fetch directives are deliberately omitted so a srcdoc iframe's inherited
policy container does not override the per-app CSP.

Updated the isolation-model comments and the sandbox-controller integration
test asserts the frame-ancestors header (and the absence of fetch directives).

* web: enforce per-app _meta.ui.csp in the app bridge + surface resource-read failures

- createAppBridgeFactory now builds each app's `_meta.ui.csp` host-side via the
sandbox-csp library (approveCspSources → buildSandboxCspPolicy) and wraps the
untrusted widget HTML with wrapSandboxedHtml so the CSP <meta> is always the
first <head> child before the HTML reaches the sandboxed iframe. The approved
(post-filter) csp + permissions are echoed back via hostCapabilities.sandbox
so the view sees what was granted. The csp is no longer sent inline through
sendSandboxResourceReady — it is enforced via the wrapped meta.
- A per-app copy of HOST_CAPABILITIES prevents the sandbox echo from mutating
  the shared constant.
- New optional `onResourceError` dep on AppBridgeFactoryDeps routes resource
read/post failures to the caller (also always console.error'd) instead of
  leaving a silent blank frame.

* web: full hostContext delivery + live host-context-changed updates

- createAppBridgeFactory now seeds the full hostContext via
  snapshotHostContext(iframe, HOST_AVAILABLE_DISPLAY_MODES): theme, styles
(Mantine design tokens), displayMode ("inline"), availableDisplayModes, and
containerDimensions — replacing the theme-only seed. The local currentTheme
helper is dropped in favor of hostContext.ts.
- AppRenderer gains `displayMode` and `containerRef` props and pushes live
host-context changes via the SDK's sendHostContextChange (partial
  host-context-changed notifications), never a hand-maintained snapshot:
  - theme + styles via a MutationObserver on <html data-mantine-color-scheme>,
  - containerDimensions via a ResizeObserver on the host container (or the
iframe fallback), gated on `initialized`, skipping 0x0 and value-equal
repeats, plus a one-shot push on initialize once layout settles,
  - displayMode whenever the prop changes (Maximize/Restore), gated on init.

Adds AppRenderer host-context tests (theme flip incl. resolved styles,
displayMode push + init gate, container-dimensions on init and resize, observer
teardown) and updates the factory + story mocks for the new hostContext shape
and sendHostContextChange method.

* web: honor ui/notifications/size-changed and ui/request-display-mode

AppRenderer:
- New `onSizeChange` prop forwards the view's ui/notifications/size-changed
reports (via the bridge `sizechange` event).
- New `onRequestDisplayMode` prop backs an `onrequestdisplaymode` bridge handler
that returns the mode the host actually applied; with no handler the request
is declined by returning the current host-side mode (falling back to inline).

AppsScreen:
- Adds a host-controlled RendererContainer (measured for containerDimensions)
with an inner box sized by the view-reported height (`appHeight`), so
  host→view container size and view→host size-changed don't couple.
- `handleSizeChange` records the reported height (ignored while maximized);
  `displayMode` is derived from the maximize toggle and pushed to the view;
  `handleRequestDisplayMode` filters against HOST_AVAILABLE_DISPLAY_MODES
(declining e.g. "pip") and maps fullscreen↔inline onto the maximize state.

Adds AppRenderer tests (size forwarding, request-display-mode apply/decline/
fallback) and AppsScreen tests (frame sizing on report, no-height ignore,
fullscreen/restore/decline via request-display-mode). Story mocks gain
sendHostContextChange/addEventListener.

* web: honor ui/download-file with confirmation and http(s) allowlist

createAppBridgeFactory now advertises the `downloadFile` host capability and
attaches an `ondownloadfile` handler:

- Requires a host-mediated confirmation (window.confirm) listing the requested
file(s); a declined prompt or an empty payload returns isError without acting.
- Inline EmbeddedResources (text or base64 blob) are written to disk via the
shared downloadBlob object-URL anchor; base64 is decoded via base64ToBytes.
- ResourceLinks are opened in a new tab, restricted to http(s) by the shared
  isHttpUrl allowlist (javascript:/data:/file:/malformed are rejected).
- Labels shown in the confirmation are sanitized (control + format chars
  stripped, length clamped) so a server-supplied filename/URI can't inject
  newlines or reflow the prompt.
- Partial-batch success is surfaced (isError only when nothing downloaded), with
  skipped items warned.

Adds factory tests for the full download surface (text/blob/link, decline,
empty, throw, non-http rejection, label sanitization/clamping, partial batch).

* web: surface ui/message and app logging in panels below the running app

AppRenderer:
- New `onMessage` prop backs an `onmessage` bridge handler that surfaces the
  view's ui/message content and returns the spec-required empty result;
with no handler the submission is declined (isError).
- New `onLog` prop forwards MCP `notifications/message` log entries via the
bridge `loggingmessage` event, honoring the advertised `logging` capability.

AppsScreen:
- Adds `messages`/`appLogs` state (cleared with the reported height on
  select/open/close/back via resetAppChannels) and `handleMessage`/`handleLog`.
- Renders a "Messages from app" panel (data-testid="apps-messages", reusing
ContentViewer) and a default-expanded collapsible "App logs" panel
(data-testid="apps-logs", reusing LogLevelBadge) with logger names and a
Clear button, both as pinned panels below the running widget.

Adds AppRenderer tests (log forward + no-handler no-throw, ui/message
route/empty-result/decline) and AppsScreen tests (message log render + empty
result + clear-on-close, log panel expand/collapse/clear).

* web: stage partial input — replay tool-input-partial before final tool input

AppRenderer:
- New `partialInputs` prop (ordered fragments), snapshotted into pendingPartials
at bridge-build time (read via a ref so prop churn never rebuilds the iframe)
and cleared on dispose. flushPending replays them via
bridge.sendToolInputPartial BEFORE the complete tool-input, per spec.

AppsScreen:
- New `partialStages` state + `handleStagePartialInput` (snapshots current form
values). resetAppChannels gains a `keepPartials` option so Open App preserves
the staged fragments (they're consumed by the renderer) while select/close/
  back clear them.
- Adds a "Stage partial input" control (fielded apps only) with a staged count
and "Clear staged", wired to AppRenderer's `partialInputs`.

Adds AppRenderer tests (ordered replay before tool-input; none when omitted) and
AppsScreen tests (stage/count/clear gated on fields; staged partials survive
Open and are replayed).

* web: app lifecycle status + machine-readable data attributes on the Apps screen

AppRenderer:
- New AppRendererStatus ("loading" | "ready" | "error") + onAppStatusChange
callback. Fires "loading" at the start of every (re)build, "ready" on the
view's initialized signal, and "error" on a factory throw/rejection.

AppsScreen:
- appStatus/appError state; handleAppError captures the reason locally and
forwards to the parent onError. resetAppChannels clears both.
- Surfaces the contract as data-testid="apps-form" carrying data-app-status and
data-app-error, renders an error panel (data-testid="apps-error") in place of
the blank frame, and tags the stage button data-testid="apps-stage".
- AppDetailPanel's Open App button gains data-testid="open-app".

App.tsx:
- Wires the bridge factory's onResourceError to a red toast so a malformed/404
UI resource is no longer console-only (the renderer separately drives
data-app-status, so a driver times out on never-reaching-ready and reads it).

Documents the data-testid/data-* automation contract in clients/web/README.md.
Adds AppRenderer status-transition tests and AppsScreen status/error-panel
tests.

* review: warn when server sandbox drops allow-scripts + revert incidental lockfile churn

Addresses the claude[bot] review on PR #1650:
- sandbox_proxy.html: log a console.warn when a server-supplied `sandbox`
value lacks `allow-scripts` after the `allow-same-origin` strip, so a
fail-closed (app-never-runs) sandbox is diagnosable instead of silent.
- Restore clients/{cli,launcher,tui,web}/package-lock.json to their
v2/main state — the earlier churn (@emnapi/@napi-rs optional deps, a
dropped version field) was incidental `npm install` regeneration
  unrelated to the sandbox change.

* review: document CSP-vs-permissions filtering asymmetry (PR #1652)

Address the claude[bot] review's finding #2: add a comment explaining why
`csp` is injection-filtered (approveCspSources) while `permissions` is passed
through verbatim — permissions is a structured boolean object consumed only by
the sandbox proxy's buildAllowAttribute() (fixed key→token mapping), so it
never reaches the iframe sandbox/allow attribute as raw text. No logic change.

* review: gate theme observer on initialized + document seed/dep assumptions (PR #1654)

Address the claude[bot] review:
- Finding #1 (applied): gate the theme+styles MutationObserver on the view's
  `initialized` signal, matching the container/displayMode pushes — a theme
flip in the construction→handshake window no longer races ui/initialize. The
factory seeds the construction-time theme, and the first post-init flip
carries the current value. Added tests: pre-init flip is dropped; the live
flip test now completes the handshake first.
- Finding #2 (applied, comment): note in snapshotHostContext that the
`displayMode: "inline"` seed assumes inline-at-open (AppsScreen always opens
inline; #1568's displayMode push carries transitions).
- Finding #4 (applied, comment): explain why `containerRef` is a build-effect
dep yet doesn't force a rebuild (sameInputs ignores it; read lazily).

* review: guard 0-height size reports, distinct RendererFrame, shared payload type (PR #1656)

Address the claude[bot] review:
- #1 (applied): handleSizeChange ignores a non-positive height — a view's
ResizeObserver can transiently fire 0 pre-layout/teardown, which would
collapse the frame; mirrors AppRenderer's 0×0 skip. Added a test.
- #2 (applied): reinstate a distinct `RendererFrame` constant for the inner
content-sized box so its role reads clearly vs. the outer RendererContainer.
- #3 (declined + comment): keep carrying `appHeight` across maximize→restore —
clearing it would flash the frame to full-card height until the next
size-changed; the carry-over restores at the prior size. Documented.
- #4 (applied): type handleSizeChange's param as AppBridgeEventMap["sizechange"]
so the payload shape has a single source of truth with AppRenderer's prop.

* review: distinguish links, cap batch size, comment truncation (PR #1657)

Address the claude[bot] review:
- #1 (applied): the confirmation now reads "download or open N item(s)" and
resource_links are prefixed "↗" in the summary, so a link that opens in a tab
is distinguishable from an embedded file that saves to disk.
- #2 (applied): cap a single ui/download-file batch at MAX_DOWNLOAD_ITEMS (20);
an oversized batch is rejected (isError) before the prompt, with a warn.
- #3 (declined): can't check window.open's return value to detect a blocked
popup — we pass `noopener`, and per spec window.open returns null even on a
successful noopener open, so null can't distinguish blocked from succeeded.
- #4b (applied, comment): note the start-of-label truncation is intentional so a
link's scheme+host stays visible for the trust decision.

Adds tests: oversized batch rejected without confirming/acting; resource-link ↗
prefix in the summary.

* review: skip embedded resource with neither text nor blob (PR #1657 round 2)

Address the round-2 observation: an untrusted EmbeddedResource carrying neither
`blob` nor a string `text` previously produced `new Blob([undefined])` — a file
containing the literal text "undefined", counted as success. Now such an item
is skipped (returns false, like a rejected link), so isError reflects it. Added

* review: type-honest formatLogData, cap channels, log-panel a11y (PR #1658)

Address the claude[bot] review:
- #1 (applied): formatLogData coalesces JSON.stringify(undefined) → "" so the
`: string` return type is honest for a data-less log.
- #2 (applied): cap retained messages/logs at MAX_APP_CHANNEL_ENTRIES (500) via
appendCapped — a chatty widget no longer grows the panels/DOM without bound
  between Clear/close; oldest entries drop.
- #3 (declined): keep the Messages panel without a Clear/collapse — messages are
sparser and already cleared on close/switch; keeping it simple.
- #4 (applied): the App-logs toggle now has aria-controls pointing at the
Collapse region (id="apps-logs-region") for assistive tech.

Adds tests: no-data log renders (coalesce branch), 501 logs cap at 500 (oldest
dropped), aria-controls assertion.

* review: stable id key for Messages panel (PR #1658 round 2)

Address the round-2 nit: give AppMessage a stable `id` (assigned via

* review: note partialStages intentionally survives handleOpen (PR #1659)

Address the claude[bot] review's observation #2: add a comment at the

* review: align error-panel docs with behavior + gate data-app-error on running (PR #1660)

Address the claude[bot] review:
- #1 (applied, docs): the error panel renders BELOW the (blank) frame, not in
place of it — the renderer stays mounted so a factory error still shows the
reason alongside the iframe (gating the frame off on error would drop the
auto-launched iframe an integration test relies on). Reworded the README row
and the test comment to say "below the frame"; added a code comment.
- #2 (applied): gate data-app-error on `running` (like data-app-status) so the
two attributes can't desync if a future path sets an error without running.
- #3 (no change): resource-read failures staying at data-app-status="loading"
(toast only) is intentional and documented.

constants/MonitorTab, TAB_UI_REGISTRY key, and navigation.ts tab id all
  updated to Protocol.
- Rename components + folders: HistoryScreen -> ProtocolScreen,
HistoryListPanel -> ProtocolListPanel, HistoryEntry -> ProtocolEntry,
HistoryControls -> ProtocolControls, historyUtils -> protocolUtils
(plus their tests and stories, and exported types).
- Rename App/InspectorView plumbing: historyUi, pinnedHistoryIds,
  on*History* handlers/props, replayHistoryRequest,
isReplayableHistoryMethod, sort/compact scopes, etc. -> Protocol names.
- Export filenames use the "protocol" slug (buildExportFilename +
  ExportKind).

Preserved (per issue #1623 decisions):
- The in-panel section discriminator keeps its "pinned" | "history"
values, and the sub-sections stay labeled Pinned / History.
- window.history and core message-log/replay concepts are untouched.

npm run ci passes (format, lint, build, unit tests, >=90 per-file
coverage gate, smoke, Storybook).

219298b24d feat(web): add Console (stderr) tab; show it on stdio connect failure (#1621)
A failed stdio launch had no useful diagnostic surface: the message log
(History) is cleared on the error transition and there are no HTTP
requests (Network), so the auto-opened monitoring column was empty. The
process's stderr — which explains the failure (e.g. "No module named
mcp_server_time") — was captured in StderrLogState but never displayed.

- New ConsoleScreen renders the captured stderr stream (search / sort /
clear / export; embeddable in the monitoring column), wired through App
via the existing useStderrLog hook + StderrLogState.
- Console is a pinnable monitor tab like Logs/History/Network, gated to
stdio servers (HTTP has no child process). It lives in the header menu
when the column isn't pinned, and moves into the column when it is.
- The failure column now picks its tabs by which diagnostic actually
captured content (stderr → Console, fetch requests → Network), not by
the active server's transport: a connect failure fires the client
`disconnect` event, which clears `activeServer`, so transport can't be
read back there. The memo re-runs as stderr/fetch entries stream in, so
the diagnostic tab appears as soon as the failing process prints.

Verified live against a failing `python -m mcp_server_time` stdio server:
the column auto-opens to Console showing the real ModuleNotFoundError.

ba48e06ffd fix(auth): guard OAuth-storage async paths against unhandled rejections
Review follow-ups on the RemoteOAuthStorage web migration:

- useEmaIdpLoginState.logout(): add a .catch to the now-async
clearEmaIdpSession call so a storage failure no longer surfaces as an
unhandled rejection; leave loginState unchanged on failure (the session
was not actually cleared). Add a test asserting no unhandled rejection.
- createOAuthStore: attach a no-op catch to the eager persistLoadPromise
so a hydration read that fails before any load() awaits it does not
become an unhandled rejection; real awaiters still observe the rejection
  via the shared reference.
- storage-remote.test: replace `as unknown as typeof fetch` double-casts
with the typed vi.fn<typeof fetch>() pattern the same PR established.
- remoteOAuthStorage: correct the doc comment to describe the cache-of-one
accurately instead of implying a keyed map.

1fd1313c96 test(web): gate src/lib/** under the coverage include globs (closes #1594)
Broaden the web vitest `coverage.include` from the single-file
`src/lib/sandbox-csp.{ts,tsx}` entry to `src/lib/**/*.{ts,tsx}` so the
per-file >=90 four-dimension gate applies to every library module under
`src/lib`, not just sandbox-csp.

- Add unit tests for the previously-ungated `environmentFactory.ts`
  (createWebEnvironment) and `types/customHeaders.ts` value helpers,
bringing both to 100% on all four dimensions.
- Annotate downloadFile.ts's provably-dead `?? ""` fallback (String.split
always returns a non-empty array so .pop() is never undefined) with a
  justified `v8 ignore`, closing its last uncovered branch (92.3 -> 100).

All five src/lib files now report 100/100/100/100.

8c10b8eb8e fix(auth): make clear* hydration-safe, migrate raw-key blobs, doc keepalive/memo caveats
Address round-1 @claude review of #1592:

- OAuthStorageBase.clear* no longer mutate the pre-hydration (empty) store —
a clear issued before hydration is deferred until it lands, so it merges
onto the real persisted state instead of (a) being resurrected by the late
rehydrate merge or (b) persisting a near-empty blob that clobbers every
other server's on-disk credential. Already-hydrated clears stay synchronous.
- store.setServerState migrates a pre-normalization raw-key blob onto the
canonical key on first partial write (was: shadowed it with a fresh
canonical entry, orphaning the raw blob's other fields). clearServerState
now also drops the raw-key orphan.
- Document the keepalive 64KB combined-body ceiling on the remote-storage
write, the getRemoteOAuthStorage memo key intentionally omitting fetchFn,
and the real ordering invariant behind the sync getScope.
- Tests for the clear-before-hydration and raw-key-migration paths.

cb54de50d8 refactor(web): document + guard sandbox CSP builder per review
Address round-1 @claude review of #1588 (no behavior change to the
enforced policy):

- approveCspSources / buildSandboxCspPolicy: document that
resourceDomains intentionally feeds script-src/style-src per the
McpUiResourceCsp contract, and that approve screens injection-safety
only (not breadth — a bare `*` is accepted; safe under the
  opaque-origin sandbox).
- CSP_KEYS: replace the `satisfies` (proves listed keys valid) with an
exhaustiveCspKeys() helper that ALSO fails to compile if the upstream
ext-apps type gains a domain key CSP_KEYS omits, so a requested
restriction can never be silently dropped.
- SAFE_CSP_SOURCE: accept case-insensitive schemes (URL schemes are
  case-insensitive); previously over-rejected `HTTPS://…`. Adds tests.

c299b6e9d8 feat(web): migrate OAuth store to shared /store API (RemoteOAuthStorage parity) (closes #1548)
Migrate the web client's OAuth storage from BrowserOAuthStorage
(sessionStorage) to RemoteOAuthStorage, which POSTs through the backend's
/api/storage/oauth route to ~/.mcp-inspector/storage/oauth.json (mode 0600).
A credential obtained in the browser is now the same blob the TUI/CLI read
on the same host, giving web ⇄ TUI ⇄ CLI parity (Wave 1 of #1579).

Core (shared with TUI/CLI):
- OAuthStorageBase now drives a single async hydration (`ready()`,
  `getHydrationError()`); every post-redirect read (getClientInformation,
getTokens, getCodeVerifier, getServerMetadata, getIdpSession) and every
save awaits it so a late hydration merge cannot clobber a fresh write.
getCodeVerifier/getServerMetadata become async; the store is created with
skipHydration:true so there is no auto-hydration to race the explicit one.
- store.ts adds normalizeServerUrl so a token saved under
https://Example.com/mcp is found when the CLI asks for
https://example.com/mcp/; getServerState falls back to the raw key.
- remote-storage adapter POSTs with keepalive so the write survives the
OAuth authorize redirect, surfaces swallowed persist failures, and gives
  richer read/write error messages.
- generateOAuthState throws instead of silently degrading to Math.random.
- NodeOAuthStorage honors MCP_INSPECTOR_OAUTH_STATE_PATH for isolated
fixtures. Provider codeVerifier()/getServerMetadata() + the EMA idpOidc and
connection-state readers await the now-async storage.

Web:
- environmentFactory + a new shared lib/remoteOAuthStorage accessor
(memoized per {baseUrl, authToken}) wire RemoteOAuthStorage into the
connection path, the EMA IdP hook, and the per-server "clear OAuth" action
so all three share one in-memory view of oauth.json.

Tests: async-hydration + normalizeServerUrl suite, keepalive/error-path
coverage, and the sync→async migration across existing storage/provider/EMA
tests. Web validate + coverage gate + integration suite green; CLI/TUI/
launcher validate green.

77e57e0d25 feat(web): add sandbox CSP builder library (closes #1558)
Add a pure, DOM-free CSP-builder library at
clients/web/src/lib/sandbox-csp.ts that validates app-supplied
`_meta.ui.csp` requests, filters them to safe sources, builds the
locked-down Content-Security-Policy string, and wraps untrusted widget
HTML in a fixed host shell whose first <head> child is the CSP meta.

- SAFE_CSP_SOURCE: strict regex that rejects directive/attribute
  breakouts (`;`, `"`, `<`, `>`, whitespace).
- approveCspSources(): drops unsafe entries (with a warning) and omits
empty keys; echoes back only what the host will enforce.
- buildSandboxCspPolicy(): `default-src 'none'` catch-all, `form-action
  'none'`, source-allowlist filtering, `'unsafe-inline'` for the app's
  own inline script/style.
- escapeHtmlAttr() / wrapSandboxedHtml(): defense-in-depth so untrusted
bytes never precede the applied policy.

Re-implements the sandbox-csp portion of PR #1510 (Wave 1 of #1579) as a
standalone library; wiring into the app bridge is a follow-up issue.
Adds full unit tests (100% lines/statements/functions/branches) and
lists the file in the web coverage `include` so it is gated (the
untested legacy src/lib siblings stay out until they get tests).

26478159be feat(web): generalize downloadFile.ts with downloadBlob, fileNameFromUri, isHttpUrl (closes #1560)
Extend the browser download library beyond JSON so the Apps host's
ui/download-file support can download arbitrary embedded resources and
open http(s) links safely, with no UI wiring in this change:

- downloadBlob(): temp-anchor download core with a setTimeout(...,0)-
deferred revokeObjectURL so a synchronous revoke can't abort the
  scheduled download (Firefox/Safari, intermittently Chrome).
- downloadJsonFile(): refactored on top of downloadBlob; callers unchanged.
- fileNameFromUri(): last path segment sanitized (control/format chars
stripped, disallowed filename chars -> _, capped at 255, "download"
  fallback).
- isHttpUrl(): parse-and-allowlist http(s) only, else null.

Re-implementation of the downloadFile.ts slice of PR #1510 as Wave 1 of
the #1579 decomposition.

feat(web): History — Pin & Replay, plus two history-status fixes (#1438) (#1441)
* fix(web): don't show a permanent PENDING badge on history notifications (#1439)

`extractStatus` derived the history status badge purely from whether a
`response` was attached, so a fire-and-forget notification (no id, no
response ever) — and any unmatched standalone response — was labelled
"Pending" forever. The pending → OK/Error lifecycle only applies to
request entries (messageLogState attaches the response by JSON-RPC id),
so scope the status to `direction === "request"` and render no
request-style badge for notifications/responses. The method badge already
labels them.

Part of the History-screen work on #1438.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(core): track outgoing responses so server→client requests resolve in history (#1440)

MessageTrackingTransport.send only tracked outgoing requests, so the
client's response to a server→client request (roots/list, sampling,
elicitation) was never recorded. The inbound request entry never got its
response folded in, leaving it stuck "Pending" with no response body.

Make send symmetric with onmessage: track outgoing responses (by id +
result/error) as well as outgoing requests. The response now correlates
to its request entry, which resolves to OK/Error with the body. Outgoing
notifications remain untracked (separate gap).

Part of the History-screen work on #1438.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): wire up History Pin and Replay (#1438)

Both HistoryEntry actions were rendered but stubbed to todoNoop in App.

- Pin: App now owns a session-scoped Set<string> of pinned entry ids,
toggled by onTogglePinHistory and passed down as pinnedHistoryIds.
HistoryListPanel already sorts pinned entries to the top. The set resets
with the rest of the per-screen state on disconnect/server-switch.
- Replay: onReplayHistory re-issues the entry's original request by method
  (tools/call → callTool, prompts/get → getPrompt, resources/read →
readResource). The call flows through InspectorClient → tracked
transport → message log, so the fresh request+response surface as a new
History entry (history-local) without touching the Tools/Prompts/
Resources panels. Unsupported methods / a removed tool surface a toast.

Tests: pin toggle propagation, replay dispatch for each supported method,
unsupported-method and missing-tool toasts.

Closes #1438.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): make history Replay support list/discovery requests

Replaying a tools/list entry reported "Replay isn't supported". Extend
replayHistoryRequest beyond the call-style requests to the read/discovery
methods, re-issuing each via its InspectorClient method (preserving the
pagination cursor):

- tools/list → listTools, prompts/list → listPrompts,
  resources/list → listResources,
  resources/templates/list → listResourceTemplates, ping → ping.

Tests: tools/list replay (cursor preserved) and an unsupported-method
toast (logging/setLevel).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): replay tasks/list; reorder + conditionally show History buttons

- Add tasks/list to the replayable set (re-issued via listRequestorTasks),
  completing the client-issued */list methods.
- Reverse the HistoryEntry actions to Pin then Replay, and hide Replay for
entries whose method can't be replayed.
- Introduce a single source of truth — REPLAYABLE_HISTORY_METHODS /
isReplayableHistoryMethod in historyUtils — used by HistoryEntry to
show/hide the button and by App's replayHistoryRequest to gate dispatch,
  so the two can't drift.

Tests: tasks/list replay, Replay hidden for a non-replayable method, and
Pin-before-Replay ordering.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): add client↔server direction badge to History and Network (#1437)

A dual-state badge at the top-left of each entry shows which way it
traveled: "client → server" (green) for inspector-originated, "client ←
server" (yellow) for server-originated.

- New shared element MessageDirectionBadge (Elements).
- History: MessageEntry gains an `origin` ("client" | "server") set at
tracking time — MessageTrackingTransport tags `send` as client and
`onmessage` as server, threaded through the track callbacks. HistoryEntry
maps origin → badge. (direction stays the request/response/notification
message-type used for response correlation; origin is the flow.)
- Network: fetches are always inspector-originated, so NetworkEntry renders
  the badge as outgoing.

Tests + stories for the badge; HistoryEntry direction tests; transport
test asserts the origin argument.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* style(web): use purple (not yellow) for the client ← server direction badge

Yellow + green read as caution/ok status; purple vs green reads as
direction. Incoming (server → client) is now violet; outgoing stays green.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): make History Pinned/History sections collapsible toggles

The "Pinned Requests (N)" and "History (N)" section headers are now
clickable toggle buttons that expand/collapse their entries — styled like
the LogControls level toggles (UnstyledButton listItem variant with the
active background) and wrapping the entries in a Collapse. Both default
open and collapse independently.

Tests assert the per-section aria-expanded toggling and independence.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): replace Expand/Collapse text button with an icon toggle

History, Network, and Task cards now use a shared ExpandToggle ActionIcon
instead of the "Expand"/"Collapse" text button: LuArrowDownToLine when
collapsed (expand), LuArrowUpFromLine when expanded (collapse). The
aria-label stays "Expand"/"Collapse" so the control reads the same.

- New shared element ExpandToggle (+ test + stories).
- HistoryEntry: actions split into a left group (Pin/Replay) with the
  toggle pushed right via space-between.
- NetworkEntry / TaskCard: drop their now-unused SubtleButton const.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): pin icon toggle on HistoryEntry, moved to the right

Replace the Pin/Unpin text button with a shared PinToggle ActionIcon
(TiPinOutline when unpinned, TiPin when pinned; aria-label stays
Pin/Unpin). Move it to the right action group, just left of the
expand/collapse toggle — Replay stays on the left.

- New shared element PinToggle (+ test + stories).
- HistoryEntry action row: Replay left; Pin + expand toggle right.
- Drop the now-unused formatPinLabel helper.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): per-section Clear/Export on the Pinned and History headers

Each section header now shows Clear and Export links on the right, but
only when both sections are present (a single section is already covered
by the panel-level Clear/Export). They act on just that section's entries:

- Clear: removes that section's entries by pin membership (clearing the
Pinned section also drops the now-stale pinned id set).
- Export: downloads just that section's entries
  (inspector-history-pinned/-unpinned-...json).

Threaded onClearSection/onExportSection App → InspectorView → HistoryScreen
→ HistoryListPanel; App computes each section from messages + pinned ids.
Extracted a CollapsibleSection subcomponent and a SectionActions links
group. Extended ExportKind with history-pinned/history-unpinned.

Tests cover both-sections visibility gating and per-section dispatch.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): Filter by Message Direction on the History controls

Add a "Filter by Message Direction" section to HistoryControls, modeled on
LogControls' "Filter by Level": a Select/Deselect All control plus two
listItem toggles — "client → server" and "client ← server" — that show or
hide entries by origin.

- HistoryUiState gains visibleDirections (Record<MessageOrigin, boolean>),
defaulting to both visible; persists with the other per-screen state.
- HistoryScreen wires the toggles (single + all) through onUiChange and
passes the filter to HistoryListPanel, where matchesFilters drops entries
whose direction is off (entries without a recorded origin are never
  filtered out).

Tests cover the controls (render, single toggle, select/deselect all), the
HistoryScreen onUiChange wiring, and the list-level direction filtering.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* style(web): section Clear/Export as subtle buttons, not link anchors

Match the Select/Deselect All control in HistoryControls: the per-section
Clear/Export on the History/Pinned headers now use a subtle Button
(variant subtle, size xs) instead of an Anchor link.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* style(web): color the direction filter labels to match the badge

The "client → server" / "client ← server" toggles in HistoryControls now
color their labels green / violet, matching the MessageDirectionBadge.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): track outgoing client notifications in history too

Review follow-up (#1441): MessageTrackingTransport.send now also tracks
the client's own notifications (initialized, progress,
roots/list_changed) as origin "client", making send fully symmetric with
onmessage. Previously only id-bearing outgoing messages (requests,
responses) were tracked, so client notifications never reached History
while incoming server notifications did.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): Filter by Message Direction on the Network screen

Add the same "Filter by Message Direction" section to NetworkControls as
on HistoryControls. Extracted the shared section into a MessageDirectionFilter
group component (used by both HistoryControls and NetworkControls) so they
stay identical — a Select/Deselect All control plus green/violet
client → server / client ← server toggles.

- NetworkUiState gains visibleDirections (default both visible), persisted
with the rest of the per-screen state; NetworkScreen wires the toggles and
  NetworkStreamPanel filters on them.
- Network fetches are always inspector-originated, so all entries are
client → server: the client toggle gates them all and the server toggle
matches nothing (documented in NetworkStreamPanel). The section mirrors
  History for parity.

Tests cover the shared filter, both controls' direction sections, the
Network list filtering, and the NetworkScreen wiring; ambiguous "Deselect
All" selectors (now two sections) disambiguated by order.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* revert(web): drop message direction from the Network tab

Network traffic is always client → server — even SSE is a client-initiated
stream tagged outgoing — so a direction badge/filter there is meaningless.
Remove the MessageDirectionBadge from NetworkEntry and the Filter by Message
Direction section (and its NetworkUiState.visibleDirections wiring) from the
Network screen.

History keeps its direction badge + filter; the shared MessageDirectionBadge
and MessageDirectionFilter components stay (still used by History).

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(web): a lone History section isn't a collapsible accordion

When only one of Pinned / History is present, its header is now a plain
title and its entries always show — instead of a `listItem` accordion
toggle that could hide them based on a stale collapsed state from when
both sections were on screen. The accordion (and per-section Clear/Export)
only applies when both sections are present.

Example fixed: collapse History while pins exist, then unpin everything —
History becomes the sole section and shows its entries under a plain
header rather than staying collapsed.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* style(web): put section Clear/Export on the header pleat itself

The per-section Clear/Export sat to the right of the collapsible header
bar, on the panel background. Make the whole header row the "pleat":
a new Group `sectionHeader` theme variant (rounded + hover, active bg
passed per instance) wraps a flex-1 toggle button (the title) on the left
and the Clear/Export buttons on the right — so the actions live on the
pleat. The toggle is a separate button since the action buttons can't nest
inside it.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* style(web): entry expand toggle uses the same icons as ListToggle

Swap ExpandToggle (History / Network / Task cards) from the LuArrow icons
to RiExpandVerticalLine / RiCollapseVerticalLine — the same expand/collapse
icons the list-level ListToggle uses. Same ActionIcon size, so it matches
the other small buttons on the cards; aria-labels unchanged.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(web): panel Clear keeps pinned entries (history-only)

Review follow-up (#1441): the panel Clear button is gated on the unpinned
count (implying history-only), but onClearHistory wiped everything
(pinned included) and left pinnedHistoryIds stale. Make Clear history-only
— clearMessages((m) => !pinnedHistoryIds.has(m.id)) — so pinning protects
an entry, matching the gating and the per-section model; the pin set stays
valid since its entries survive.

Also drop the stale "and Network" mention from the MessageDirectionFilter
docstring (Network direction filter was reverted).

Test: panel Clear's predicate keeps pinned ids and removes unpinned.

fix(auth): persist OAuth pre-redirect Network log across the redirect (#1384) (#1385)
* feat(auth): inject MCP_INSPECTOR_API_TOKEN into served index.html (#1378)

Reloading the web client at the bare URL (no `?MCP_INSPECTOR_API_TOKEN=…`
query string) with empty sessionStorage made every `/api/*` request 401 —
the browser had no way to recover the backend's auth token.

Embed the token into `index.html` on every page load so the browser no
longer depends on the query string surviving navigation:

- New shared helper `clients/web/server/inject-auth-token.ts` embeds
  `<script>window.__INSPECTOR_API_TOKEN__ = "…"</script>` (escaped against
`</script>` injection; no-op when auth is dangerously omitted).
- Dev: the Vite plugin injects via `transformIndexHtml`.
- Prod: the Hono server injects on the `/` route.
- `App.tsx` `getAuthToken()` now reads the injected global first, then the
query string, then sessionStorage (both fallbacks preserved).
- Shared global name lives in `INSPECTOR_API_TOKEN_GLOBAL`
  (`core/mcp/remote/constants.ts`).

Tests: helper unit coverage + an integration test exercising the real
prod server's `/` → `/api/*` flow (injected token authenticates; missing
token 401s). AGENTS.md documents the token-recovery order.

* feat(auth): wire OAuth authorization-code flow into App.tsx (#1379)

OAuth-protected MCP servers could not be connected to from the v2 web
client: the core OAuth pipeline exists, but App.tsx never invoked it, so a
connect attempt 401'd and surfaced "Remote send failed (401): … Missing
Authorization header" as a toast.

Wire the two missing entry points (all core primitives already in place):

- Auto-trigger on 401: in onToggleConnection's catch, detect an upstream
401 (isUnauthorizedError) and call client.authenticate(), which runs
discovery + DCR (backend-proxied) and redirects the page to the auth
server via BrowserNavigation. The initiating server id is persisted to
sessionStorage first, since the OAuth `state` carries only mode+authId
and the full-page redirect wipes React state.
- /oauth/callback handler: a mount effect that, once `servers` hydrate,
parses the callback params, recovers the pending server, rebuilds its
InspectorClient, runs completeOAuthFlow(code) (PKCE verifier + DCR client
info survive in BrowserOAuthStorage), replaceState("/") so a reload can't
replay the single-use code, then connect(). An `error=` callback toasts
  instead of retrying.

connect() already attaches the OAuth provider to the transport
(inspectorClient.ts), so once tokens land in BrowserOAuthStorage the
outbound request carries the bearer token.

Extracted the pure pieces (constants + isUnauthorizedError) to
src/utils/oauthFlow.ts with unit tests. Verified end-to-end in a real
browser against the MCP SDK demo OAuth server: Connect -> redirect ->
auto-approve -> callback -> Connected, with the access token shown in the
Connection Info modal (#1377).

* fix(auth): persist OAuth pre-redirect Network log across the redirect (#1384)

After #1379, the Network tab showed only the post-redirect auth HTTP
(discovery re-run + POST /token); the pre-redirect discovery and the DCR
POST /register that run during authenticate() were lost when the page
navigated to the auth server.

Root causes:

1. Ordering — BrowserNavigation set `window.location.href` before the
client's `saveSession` event fired (OAuthManager calls onBeforeOAuthRedirect
*after* auth() already navigated), so the save raced the unload and was
dropped. Fix: BrowserNavigation now runs a synchronous `beforeNavigate`
hook immediately before assigning location.href; App wires it through
createWebEnvironment to flush the active fetch log to RemoteInspectorClient
Storage (keyed by the authId parsed from the auth URL) via a keepalive POST
   that outlives the unload.

2. Illegal invocation — RemoteInspectorClientStorage defaulted to
   `this.fetchFn = globalThis.fetch` and called `this.fetchFn(...)`, which
re-binds `this` and makes native fetch throw "Illegal invocation"
(swallowed by the catch). This silently broke *all* session save/load.
Fix: default to a wrapper that preserves the global receiver.

3. Restore race — hydrateFetchRequests replaced the list, so a load that
resolved after the resuming connect appended live entries would clobber
them. Fix: merge restored (older) entries ahead of live ones, dedupe by id.

saveSession also now uses keepalive: true.

Verified end-to-end against the MCP SDK demo OAuth server: the connected
page's Network tab shows the full handshake — pre-redirect discovery + DCR
/register plus post-redirect discovery + /token as `auth`, alongside
`transport`. Added unit tests for the beforeNavigate ordering and the
hydrate merge/dedupe.

* fix(auth): inject token into prod SPA fallback + prime sessionStorage + no-store (#1378)

Addresses code-review feedback on the token-injection PR:

- Prod `server.ts` SPA deep-link fallback (e.g. `/oauth/callback`) previously
served the raw index.html off disk via serveStatic, bypassing injection — so
  a bookmark/reload at a non-`/` route with empty sessionStorage would 401.
  Route the SPA fallback through the same `serveIndexHtml` (inject) helper;
real static assets (paths with a dot) still serve verbatim. Dev already
injected on every HTML serve via Vite `transformIndexHtml`.
- `getAuthToken()` now persists the injected `window.__INSPECTOR_API_TOKEN__`
to sessionStorage (not just the URL-param branch), priming the backstop for
any later navigation that loses the global.
- Injected HTML responses now send `Cache-Control: no-store`, so a page
carrying a token isn't cached and served stale after a restart regenerates
  the token.

Integration tests added: SPA fallback (`/oauth/callback`) carries the token,
`Cache-Control: no-store` on injected HTML, real assets served verbatim, and
unknown `/api` routes 404 rather than falling through to the HTML shell.

* fix(auth): address #1383 review — split OAuth/connect toasts, tighten 401 match (#1379)

Code-review feedback on the OAuth-wiring PR:

- Callback effect: split completeOAuthFlow vs connect() into separate
try/catch blocks. A token-exchange failure now reads "OAuth token exchange
failed … Please try connecting again." (the single-use code is spent and the
URL was cleared, so a reload can't retry); a post-OAuth connect failure reads
"Failed to connect" since OAuth actually succeeded and re-clicking Connect
  reuses the persisted tokens.
- isUnauthorizedError: anchor the message fallback on the transport's
  `failed …(401)` wording instead of a bare `(401)`, so an unrelated `(401)`
spliced into an error message can't trip the OAuth flow. Added a test.
- Documented that clearing the pending id + URL before the server lookup is
  intentional (deleted/renamed server mid-flow → require a fresh Connect).

Also merges the squash-merged #1382 base from v2/main.

* docs(auth): address #1385 review — clarify double-save + keepalive cap + test fetch default (#1384)

Code-review feedback on the OAuth Network-log persistence PR:

- Documented the double-save: `FetchRequestLogState`'s `saveSession` listener
is the backstop; `BrowserNavigation`'s `beforeNavigate` hook is the primary
flush for the redirect case. Notes the listener may lose the navigation race
and is harmless when it duplicates (last-writer-wins, identical payload).
- Reworded the keepalive comment in `RemoteInspectorClientStorage.saveSession`:
the 64KB cap is general (the method is also reachable from the listener with
the full session log), so a long session could exceed it and drop silently —
acceptable since the persisted log is best-effort, not load-bearing.
- Added a regression test that constructs `RemoteInspectorClientStorage`
without a `fetchFn`, stubs `globalThis.fetch`, and asserts the default
wrapper calls it (locks in the "Illegal invocation" fix, which callers
  otherwise swallow).

Optional items (logger.warn on swallowed save errors; setupClientForServer dep
churn) acknowledged on the PR, not changed.

Also merges the squash-merged #1383 base from v2/main.

feat(export): wire History + Logs export JSON handlers (#1354) (#1367)
* feat(export): wire History + Logs export JSON handlers (#1354)

Replaces the `todoNoop` placeholders in App.tsx with real handlers that
serialize the current entries and trigger a browser download via the
existing `downloadJsonFile` helper.

- Adds `buildExportFilename(kind, serverId, now?)` next to the download
helper. Produces sortable, filesystem-safe names like
  `inspector-history-alpha-2026-03-17T10-00-42.123Z.json` (URL-encodes
server ids that contain slashes / spaces / colons, swaps `:` for `-`
in the ISO timestamp so the file is safe on Windows).
- Wires `onExportHistory` (full MessageEntry list) and `onExportLogs`
(the LogEntryData list the screen renders).
- Routes the existing Network export through the same filename helper
  for consistency.

Unit tests cover the filename builder, including the no-server-id
fallback, special-character encoding, and the default-`now` shape.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(export): tighten buildExportFilename signature + docs

- Introduce an `ExportKind = "history" | "logs" | "network"` union and
use it as the type of the `kind` parameter. Typos like "hisotry" now
fail at compile time and the supported export kinds are documented
  inline.
- Clarify the JSDoc: the segment is omitted when `serverId` is falsy
(undefined OR empty string), matching the existing `serverId ? ... :
undefined` check. New test pins the empty-string branch.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* chore(logging): remove Copy All button from LogStreamPanel

Export now produces the same JSON the Copy All button used to dump to
the clipboard, so the button is redundant. History and Network panels
have no equivalent — dropping Copy All also brings Logs into parity.

Removes the prop from LogStreamPanel + LoggingScreen + InspectorView +
App.tsx, and updates the matching tests/stories. Tests now assert the
button is *not* in the document so a future re-introduction would have
to update the assertion deliberately.

feat(servers): export server list as mcp.json download (#1346) (#1351)
* feat(servers): export server list as mcp.json download (#1346)

Adds an Export button to the Servers screen, next to "Add Servers".
Clicking it downloads the current server list as a canonical mcp.json
file (2-space indent, same shape serializeStore writes), so the user
can hand it off, sync it to another machine, or symlink into Claude
Desktop / Cursor / Cline.

Wiring:
- ServerListControls: new Export Button (variant=default), disabled
when serverCount === 0 (nothing to download).
- ServerListScreen / InspectorView: thread `onExport` / `onServerExport`
  through.
- App.tsx: onServerExport runs serverEntriesToMcpConfig on the in-memory
servers list, JSON.stringify with 2-space indent, and triggers a Blob
download via a temporary anchor (appended to body for Firefox
compatibility, then removed; object URL revoked).

Tests:
- ServerListControls unit tests cover button-count (toggle hidden vs
shown, Export always present), disabled-on-empty, click fires onExport.
- ServerListControls.stories grows play functions for both stories —
WithServers asserts Export is enabled + click fires the spy in real
Chromium, WithoutServers asserts Export is disabled.
- Existing screen + view tests / stories updated for the new prop.

* fix(servers): address PR #1351 review (extract helpers + exception safety + guard)

Substantive items from the review:

1. Serialization format parity (review #1): added
   `serializeMcpConfig(entries)` to core/mcp/serverList.ts — a
browser-safe helper that runs `serverEntriesToMcpConfig` then
stringifies with 2-space indent. Single source of truth for export
   formatting; can't drift from serializeStore's on-disk shape.

2. Exception safety on the anchor cleanup (review #2) + a direct test
for the App.tsx download wiring (review #6): extracted
   `downloadJsonFile(filename, json)` to clients/web/src/lib/
   downloadFile.ts. removeChild + revokeObjectURL run in a `finally`
so a thrown click() doesn't leak the DOM node or the object URL.
   Unit-tested under happy-dom with URL.createObjectURL mocked
   (happy-dom doesn't ship it).

3. Empty-list guard (review #5): App.tsx onServerExport bails when
   `servers.length === 0`. The button's disabled prop already prevents
the UI path, but the handler is now locally correct against any
future programmatic caller (storybook, keyboard shortcut, etc.).

Acknowledged but not changed:
- Tooltip on the disabled Export button (review #3) — Mantine's
disabled-button + Tooltip wart wants a span wrapper + custom events
config. Optional per the reviewer; deferred.
- Repeated exports → `mcp (1).json` browser suffix (review #4) — a
deliberate trade-off since `mcp.json` is the conventional name a user
would expect to symlink into Claude Desktop / Cursor / etc.

Tests: 1647 unit (+6) + 410 integration + 306 storybook = 2363 green.

Wire App.tsx to v2 core/ hook layer; remove demo stub from InspectorView (#1322)
* feat(web): wire App.tsx to v2 core/ hook layer; remove demo stub from InspectorView

App.tsx mounts InspectorView with live data from the v2 hook layer instead
of the title-page placeholder. InspectorView becomes pure prop-driven; the
demo handshake stub and connection state machinery are removed.

Connection lifecycle:
- App.tsx lazily instantiates `InspectorClient` on the connect edge,
rebuilding it (and its state managers) when the user picks a different
  server. State managers (Managed{Tools,Prompts,Resources,ResourceTemplates,
  RequestorTasks}State + MessageLog/FetchRequestLog/StderrLog) are
  destroyed on switch.
- `useInspectorClient` + the per-primitive `useManaged*` hooks drive the
view's data. `latencyMs` is captured at the connecting → connected edge
via a ref so the intermediate rerenders don't lose the start timestamp.
- `errorMessage` is captured from `client.connect()` rejection; status-
machine-driven errors that don't surface through the promise are a known
follow-up (no `error` event in the v2 InspectorClientEventMap yet).

Action handlers:
- `onCallTool` / `onGetPrompt` / `onReadResource` await the corresponding
InspectorClient method and reflect pending → ok/error in `ToolCallState`
  / `GetPromptState` / `ReadResourceState` panel props. Manually verified
  end-to-end against `npx @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem` —
the Tools result panel renders the real "Allowed directories: /private/tmp"
  output rather than a stub.
- `onSetLogLevel` calls `client.setLoggingLevel(level)` and optimistically
bumps `currentLogLevel` locally (the request has no echo notification).
- `onSubscribeResource` / `onUnsubscribeResource` / `onCancelTask` route to
their respective client methods. Server CRUD (`onServerAdd`/`onServerEdit`
/…) and history pinning are intentionally `todoNoop` for now; the seed
server list is hardcoded per the agreed scope (a `useServers` v2-only
  hook is a separate effort).
- `notifications/message` notifications flowing through `MessageLogState`
are filtered into `LogEntryData[]` and passed to the Logs screen, so
`logging/setLevel` and the resulting log stream round-trip.

InspectorView (`InspectorView.tsx`):
- Removed: `STUB_*` constants, `handshakeTimer` ref, `handleToggleConnection`
  / `disconnect` functions, stub `bridgeFactory`/`sandboxPath`, internal
  connection state, `logLevel` state.
- Added 38 props covering connection state, panel states, log level, and
action callbacks. The view is pure presentational.
- `availableTabs` is derived from `connectionStatus`; `activeTab` is
clamped to whatever's currently available (avoiding the `set-state-in-effect`
lint and keeping the previously-selected tab on reconnect).

Stories + tests:
- `InspectorView.stories.tsx` adds spy callbacks for every action prop and
  new `Connected` / `ConnectionError` stories for the connected/error
  narratives.
- `InspectorView.test.tsx` is rewritten around the prop-driven contract
(10 tests covering the empty list, server cards, toggle dispatch,
connected header, error banner, tab snap-back on disconnect, app
filtering, log-level dispatch, autoScroll local toggle).

Dev backend port wiring (`vite.config.ts`):
- Vite's dev server is now pinned to `CLIENT_PORT` (default 6274) with
  `strictPort: true`, matching the dev backend's `allowedOrigins`. Without
this, Vite would fall back to 5173 while the Hono origin check still
required 6274 — breaking every browser `/api/*` fetch out of the box.
- Top-level `resolve.alias` now spreads the same bare-module aliases the
vitest projects use. Rolldown can't reach `pino/browser.js` /
`zustand/middleware` from `core/`'s parent (no node_modules there); the
wired App pulls those modules into the browser dep graph for the first
time, so the aliases need to be visible at build time too.

createWebEnvironment helper (`src/lib/environmentFactory.ts`):
- Mirrors v1.5's `lib/adapters/environmentFactory.ts`: builds
  `InspectorClientEnvironment` from `createRemoteTransport` +
  `createRemoteFetch` + `createRemoteLogger` + `BrowserOAuthStorage` +
`BrowserNavigation`. Returns the assembled environment plus the logger
  for direct app-level use.

Closes #1244.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(web): wire dev-backend auth token into createWebEnvironment + show full stdio command in ServerCard

Two issues surfaced after the #1244 wiring landed locally:

1. **401 on `/api/mcp/connect`** when running `npm run dev` with the
default auth (no `DANGEROUSLY_OMIT_AUTH`). The dev backend generates a
   random token and prints `http://localhost:6274?MCP_INSPECTOR_API_TOKEN=…`
in the banner, but App.tsx was calling `createWebEnvironment(undefined, …)`
so the browser never sent `x-mcp-remote-auth`. The Hono middleware
correctly rejected with "Authentication required. Use the
   x-mcp-remote-auth header with Bearer token."

Adds a small `getAuthToken()` helper in App.tsx that reads
`MCP_INSPECTOR_API_TOKEN` off `window.location.search`, falls back to
`sessionStorage`, and persists fresh values into sessionStorage so
client-side navigation / OAuth round-trips don't drop the token. The
resolved value is passed to `createWebEnvironment` whenever a new
   InspectorClient is built.

2. **Misleading ServerCard display** — the seed server's `config` is
   `{ command: "npx", args: ["-y", "@modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem",
"/tmp"] }` but the card only rendered `"npx"`, so it looked like the
   command was incomplete. `getCommandOrUrl` now joins `command + args`
for stdio configs, so the card shows the same string that gets spawned.
   SSE / streamable-http paths unchanged.

Manual end-to-end re-verified against `npm run dev` (no DANGEROUSLY_OMIT_AUTH):
- Banner prints the auth-token URL.
- Browser navigates to that URL → `getAuthToken()` picks the token off the
query string, persists to sessionStorage, threads it through to every
  `/api/*` request.
- Server card shows `npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem /tmp`.
- Toggle connect → connection succeeds; ViewHeader shows
`Connected (~1.3s)`; Tools tab populates with the 14 filesystem tools.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* fix(web): use dark-9 instead of blue-9 for dark-mode page background

`main.tsx` overrode `--mantine-color-body` to `--mantine-color-blue-9` in
dark mode, while `.storybook/preview.tsx` used `--mantine-color-dark-9`.
The dev app then rendered with a blue background while every story (and
the design intent visible in storybook) used dark grey.

Switch main.tsx to `--mantine-color-dark-9` so the dev app matches the
storybook reference.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.7 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com>

* feat(web): seed the Servers screen with the "everything" reference server

Adds `@modelcontextprotocol/server-everything` to the hardcoded seed list
alongside the filesystem server. The everything server exposes tools,
prompts, resources, sampling, and completion — covering most of the
surface a developer might want to exercise against the wired-up
InspectorView without configuring anything.

Comment updated to explain the two-seed shape.

* fix(web): address #1244 PR review feedback (JsonValue cast, client lifecycle, dead code)

- **#1 — Misleading `Record<string, never>` cast**: Imported `JsonValue`
  from `@inspector/core/mcp/index.js` and changed `args as Record<string,
  never>` to `args as Record<string, JsonValue>` in `onCallTool`. The new
cast honestly narrows from the screen-level `Record<string, unknown>`
to what `InspectorClient.callTool` actually requires. Added a comment
  explaining the boundary.

- **#2 + #3 — Previous InspectorClient not disconnected on server switch
or unmount**: Added a `useEffect` keyed on `inspectorClient` whose
cleanup calls `inspectorClient.disconnect()`. One effect covers both
the swap-on-switch leak (prior session's transport stayed open until
GC) and the unmount-during-connected leak (HMR / tests).
  `setupClientForServer`'s existing state-manager `destroy()` calls
handle the listener side; the new effect handles the transport side.

- **#4 — Dead `void` block at bottom of file**: Deleted the trailing
`void FetchRequestLogState; void StderrLogState;` block. The state
managers are already constructed via `new FetchRequestLogState(client)`
/ `new StderrLogState(client)`, so the imports are referenced by the
linter's reckoning. The `void` pair was dead code with a comment that
  no longer matched reality.

- **#5 / #7 / #8 — Follow-up TODOs**: Added TODO refs to the new
  follow-up issues:
  - TODO(#1323): `error` event in InspectorClientEventMap so mid-session
transport failures surface (connect-only catch is incomplete).
  - TODO(#1324): negotiated `protocolVersion` through `useInspectorClient`
    (currently hard-coded `"2025-06-18"`).
  - TODO(#1325): `useResourceSubscriptions` hook so subscribe/unsubscribe
    buttons reflect their server-side effect.

Items #6 (useCallback dep churn), #9 (helper unit tests), and #10
(shared no-op bridge factory fixture) are acknowledged in the PR reply
as deferred — no functional impact and out of scope for a "wire the
hook layer" PR.

8edff4ea77 Phase 0 foundations for component interfaces refactor
Stands up the type-only prerequisites for the v2 UX component
interfaces refactor per specification/v2_ux_interfaces_plan.md.

Phase 0.1 — MCP SDK dependency:
- Add @modelcontextprotocol/sdk ^1.29.0 and zod ^4.3.6 to both the
root package.json and clients/web/package.json so component files
can import Tool / Prompt / Resource / Task / LoggingLevel / etc.
  directly from the SDK.

Phase 0.2 — Inspector wrapper-types module:
- Create core/mcp/types.ts mirroring the type-only subset of v1.5's
  core/mcp/types.ts: MCPServerConfig (discriminated union), ServerType,
  MCPConfig, ConnectionStatus, StderrLogEntry, MessageEntry (Date
timestamps, not ISO strings), FetchRequestEntry(+Base), ServerState,
and the *Invocation types. Adds v2-only wrappers
  InspectorResourceSubscription and InspectorServerJsonDraft.
- Add core/mcp/taskNotificationSchemas.ts for the Inspector-owned
notifications/tasks/list_changed signal (not in the SDK).
- Add core/mcp/elicitationCreateMessage.ts re-exporting ElicitRequest
and ElicitResult plus an InspectorPendingElicitation interface for
  typing the pending-queue.
- Add core/json/jsonUtils.ts for the shared JsonValue / JsonObject
  types used inside core/mcp/types.ts.
- Copy v1.5's clients/web/src/utils/jsonUtils.ts (JsonSchemaType) and
schemaUtils.ts (AJV-backed validators) verbatim so SchemaForm can
switch off its local JsonSchema type.
- Copy v1.5's clients/web/src/lib/types/customHeaders.ts verbatim for
  ServerSettingsForm and the experimental panel.
- Add clients/web/src/types/navigation.ts with InspectorTab (UI-routing
concept, lives with the web client rather than in core/).
- Wire tsconfig.app.json + vite.config.ts with the @inspector/core/*
path alias so component files can import from core/ without
  relative-path hell.

Phase 0.3 — Vet (likely) hedges in v2_ux_interfaces.md:
- Follow-up sweep on commit 2ef257da. Replaces the remaining
useMcpClient references with useInspectorClient, ties pending
elicitation / sampling callbacks to the in-InspectorClient queue
rather than a non-existent useElicitation / useSampling hook,
corrects Task references to the SDK type (not an InspectorTask
wrapper), corrects log hook wiring to useMessageLog, and strikes
all remaining v2-only hooks with explicit "no v1.5 analog"
  annotations. grep "likely" specification/v2_ux_interfaces.md now
  returns zero results.

Phase 0.4 — Local-redeclaration inventory:
- specification/v2_ux_interfaces_phase_0_4_inventory.md enumerates
every ad hoc local type (JsonSchema, LogLevel, TaskStatus,
  PromptItem, ResourceItem, ToolListItemProps, RootEntry, KeyValuePair,
inline ConnectionStatus / transport unions) that will be replaced
in Phases 1–4, including the file it lives in, every site that
re-imports it, and the SDK / wrapper type that replaces it. Intended
for the Phase 0 PR description and as a running checklist during
  the refactor.

Build state: npm run build / lint / format:check all pass in
clients/web.
