eae68f2fc6 test(web): await the theme observer instead of a wall-clock budget
The AppRenderer "live theme flip" test had its inner `waitFor` raised twice
(bare assertion -> 1000ms -> 5000ms) and failed a third time at 5032ms under
`local:gate` load. The budget was never the problem.

Root cause: happy-dom 20.11.1's `MutationObserverListener` stores its dispatch
callback as `new WeakRef((record) => this.report(record))` — an arrow function
nothing else holds strongly. A GC between `observe()` and the mutation collects
it, `callback.deref()` returns undefined in `Node[reportMutation]`, and the
mutation is dropped silently and permanently. That is why the failure tracks
machine load rather than any wall-clock value, and why no raise ever fixed it.

Reproduced directly against 20.11.1: an observer on `documentElement`, three
forced `global.gc()` passes, then `setAttribute` — callback count 0. Without
the forced GC, 1. Upstream holds the arrow strongly in a private field from
20.11.2 onward; the same probe against the bumped copy reports 1.

So:

- bump `happy-dom`'s floor to `^20.11.2` (lockfile resolves 20.14.5), which is
  the actual fix;
- replace the 5000ms `waitFor` with `flipThemeAttributeAndAwaitObservers`, an
awaited condition per AGENTS.md: a probe MutationObserver registered after
the component's is notified after it, so resolving on the probe's callback
proves the component's already ran. No polling, no timeout, nothing
  load-sensitive.
- use the same helper in the two negative theme tests, which is what makes
their "not called" a real gate rather than a vacuous pass on a flip that was
  never delivered.

The file's 52 tests now run in ~120ms.

feat(test-servers): stall an OAuth endpoint so #2319's timeouts can be driven (#2383)
* feat(test-servers): stall an OAuth endpoint so #2319's timeouts can be driven

#2319 put an `AbortSignal.timeout` on five OAuth-path calls that previously
went out with no signal at all. Nothing in the repo could make any of them
fire: the composable server's `oauth` block had no stall, delay or
never-answer option, so all five were covered only by tests injecting a
`fetch` stub.

A stub settles on the client side. The state #2319 is actually about is an
established, idle socket in the Inspector's own Node process — invisible in
browser devtools, and held behind a connection status that deliberately stays
at `connecting`. Only a server that accepts and withholds reproduces it.

Adds `oauth.stallEndpoints` (any of `protected-resource-metadata`,
`as-metadata`, `authorize`, `token`, `revoke`, `register`) plus an optional
`stallMs` to answer late rather than never. Endpoints are named by the CALL,
not the path: the exchange and the refresh share `/oauth/token`, and two of
the documents sit at configurable paths, so a path-keyed option would be both
ambiguous and wrong when `resourceMetadataPath` or `asMetadataPath` moves one.

Per endpoint rather than global, so a test can tell "discovery timed out" from
"token exchange timed out" — the distinction the five separate timeouts exist
to make. An unrecognized name throws at start rather than being ignored, since
a typo would otherwise yield a fixture that answers normally and a timeout test
that fails pointing at the timeout instead of at the config.

Two showcase configs and a `docs/test-servers.md` section covering both, what
to do with them, and what the broken build did.

Teardown needed no new machinery: `TestServerHttp.stop()` already calls
`httpServer.closeAllConnections?.()`, which destroys an established socket
whether or not a response was written. Measured at 0s with a withheld response
in flight, and pinned by a test, because it is the property most likely to be
broken by a future change to the stop path — and it would break as a hang in
`afterEach`, pointing at the wrong test.

Each guard was mutation-checked against the new suite:

middleware never registered -> 7 of 8 failed
  match req.url instead of req.path -> 1 of 8 failed
  unknown-entry validation removed  -> 1 of 8 failed
stall calls next() anyway -> 6 of 8 failed
  (unmutated)                       -> 8 passed

The `req.path` mutation initially escaped: every stallable endpoint but
`authorize` is requested at a bare path, so matching on `req.url` passed the
whole file. The query-string case exists to close that, and its comment says
so.

* fix(test-servers): key the OAuth stall by method, and cover every endpoint (#2383 review)

Five findings from review, all defects in what this PR added.

**Method is part of the endpoint identity.** The middleware collapsed each
endpoint to a path, but two of the paths are caller-supplied: a valid
`asMetadataPath: "/oauth/token"` made stalling `token` also stall the metadata
GET, and vice versa — breaking the per-call contract the option exists to
provide. Keyed on `${METHOD} ${path}` now, with `authorize` carrying both GET
(consent page) and POST (submission).

**Every advertised endpoint is driven, not three of six.** `as-metadata`,
`revoke` and `register` were reachable in config but never requested, so a typo
in any of their hardcoded entries would yield a fixture that quietly answers
normally — the exact failure this option exists to prevent. The suite is now
table-driven over `STALLABLE_OAUTH_ENDPOINTS`, so adding a name without
covering it is impossible.

**`stallMs` is tested.** It was advertised and every fixture used 0, leaving the
delay branch and its timer cleanup able to regress unseen. Three cases now:
answers late rather than never, times out when the caller's budget is shorter
than the delay, and releases the timer when the client aborts first.

**The teardown test waits for a real signal, not a fixed sleep.** A 250ms sleep
that lost the race would have stopped the server before the request arrived; the
fetch would reject because the server closed and the test would pass without
ever exercising `closeAllConnections()` on an established request. It now waits
until the request is actually parked.

⚠️ That signal started as a module-level counter and failed under Vitest, which
can load the fixture module more than once — the middleware incremented one copy
while the test polled another, and the wait timed out with the fixture working
perfectly (verified standalone: parked after 100ms). It is per-server state read
off the instance the test already holds, which makes module identity irrelevant
and scopes the count to one fixture.

**The docs section is top-level.** It had been inserted as `###` directly under
`## Revoking tokens on clear`, so that section's prose became part of the
stalled-fixture subsection.

Re-mutated against the expanded suite; every guard is independently detected:

middleware never registered -> 19 of 20 failed
  match req.url instead of req.path  ->  2 of 20 failed
  ignore method (path-only key)      ->  1 of 20 failed
stallMs answers immediately -> 3 of 20 failed
registry never decremented -> 1 of 20 failed
  as-metadata path typo              ->  2 of 20 failed
  (unmutated)                        -> 20 passed

* fix(test-servers): validate stallMs, cover both configurable paths and the timer (#2383 review round 2)

Six more findings, all defects in what this PR added.

**The timer-cleanup test did not test timer cleanup.** It observed
`registry.parked`, which a separate `close` listener decrements, so it passed
with the 10s timer still armed — a test whose name and comment claimed
something it could not see. Split in two: the end-to-end case now says only
what it proves (the fixture lets go), and a focused middleware test with fake
timers and a `next` spy checks the actual claim. Removing `clearTimeout` now
fails; before, it did not.

**Both configurable metadata paths are now driven at non-default values.**
`stallTargetsFor` reads `resourceMetadataPath` and `asMetadataPath`, and every
test requested the defaults — so replacing either lookup with its default
literal left the suite green while `stallEndpoints` silently stopped working
for any config that moves the document. That is the exact typo class this
option exists to prevent, and it was the one my own doc comment claimed to
guard.

**`authorize` is driven as a POST as well as a GET.** It is the only endpoint
mapped to two methods, and only one was exercised, so dropping `"POST"` passed
the suite while a consent submission stopped stalling.

**`stallMs` is validated at setup**, like its sibling `stallEndpoints`. A
JSON/YAML config is only *cast* to its interface, so anything can arrive: a
negative or non-numeric value made `stallMs > 0` false and silently became a
PERMANENT stall, and a value past the 32-bit timer range overflows to ~1ms and
answers almost immediately. Both read as "the timeout behaved strangely"
rather than "the config is wrong". `MAX_STALL_MS` mirrors
`MAX_TIMER_DELAY_MS` in `core/auth/requestTimeout.ts`, which exists for the
same reason.

**The docs no longer claim a configurable budget.** They said the failure
arrives "after roughly 30s unless a shorter one is configured". There is no
such setting: `InspectorClient` passes `DEFAULT_OAUTH_REQUEST_TIMEOUT_MS`
straight into the transport chain and passes no budget at all on the auth
chain, so both take the default. Verified in
`core/mcp/inspectorClient.ts:866-889` before changing the text — it now states
the fixed 30 seconds.

**`stop()`'s JSDoc is back above `stop()`.** The new accessor had been inserted
between them, orphaning it.

Each fix mutation-checked against the 26-test suite; every one is detected, and
each by exactly one test:

drop POST from authorize's methods -> 1 of 26 failed
  resourceMetadataPath -> default literal  -> 1 of 26 failed
  asMetadataPath -> default literal        -> 1 of 26 failed
clearTimeout on close removed -> 1 of 26 failed
stallMs validation removed -> 1 of 26 failed
  (unmutated)                              -> 26 passed

* fix(test-servers): validate the stallEndpoints container, reject stallMs null, drop `any` (#2383 review round 3)

Four findings — two inline, two suppressed. All valid.

**`stallEndpoints` is validated as a container, not just by length.** A config
file is cast rather than parsed, so the value can arrive as a string, `null`, or
an object with a `length`. The old `.length === 0` check accepted `""` and
`{ length: 0 }` and returned "no stalling configured" — silently disabling the
capability this startup validation exists to protect — while a non-empty string
failed later with an incidental `.filter is not a function`.

**An explicit `stallMs: null` is rejected rather than defaulted.** `?? 0` turned
it into a valid 0, which skipped every check below and silently produced a
permanent stall. Only an omitted value takes the default now; `null` falls
through to the finite-number check.

**Both `as any` suppressions are gone.** This repo forbids `any` outright and
forbids disabling the rule to satisfy the linter, and I did both — twice. The
doubles are now bridged to `Request`/`Response` with a single justified
`as unknown as` and a comment saying why no narrower option exists: the literal
is missing ~50 properties so a single `as Request` is rejected, and the
middleware reads only `method`, `path` and `res.on`. If it ever reads more, the
double is wrong at runtime instead of being silently absorbed — which is what
the `any` was doing.

Mutation-checked, both new guards detected:

stallEndpoints container check removed -> 1 of 28 failed
  stallMs back to `?? 0` (null coerced)  -> 1 of 28 failed
  (unmutated)                            -> 28 passed

⚠️ The container mutation initially read as ESCAPED at 28 passed. It had not:
`npm run format` had rewrapped the condition across lines, so the perl pattern
matched nothing and the "mutation" was a no-op. Re-applied by line range it
fails as expected. Worth recording — a mutation that silently fails to apply
reads exactly like a test gap, and I nearly reported it as one.

`npm run check` passes in both clients/cli and clients/web, so the `any` rule
and the type-aware lint are clean.

* fix(test-servers): refuse to stall a route the config does not serve (#2383 review round 4)

Three findings, all suppressed comments (no inline threads this round).

**A stall is refused for an endpoint this config does not actually expose.** The
middleware runs *before* Express routing, so it would happily hold a request for
a route that would otherwise 404 — `supportDCR: false` with
`stallEndpoints: ["register"]` produced a hanging registration endpoint instead
of a configuration error, and a timeout test written against it would have
passed for entirely the wrong reason. `servesEndpoint` mirrors the registration
rules in `setupOAuthRoutes`/`setupMetadataEndpoints`: the protected-resource
document is always served, the rest of the local AS exists only in `combined`
mode, `revoke` carries `supportRevocation` and `register` carries `supportDCR`.
It lives next to `stallTargetsFor` so the two stay in step — a new OAuth route
needs an entry in both.

This is the same class as the validation already here, and the reason is the one
this PR keeps restating: a misconfiguration must fail loudly rather than produce
a hang that reads as a timeout.

**The error no longer misreports NaN and Infinity.** `JSON.stringify` returns
the string `"null"` for both — the two values most likely to reach the `stallMs`
check — so the message named a value the author never wrote. `describeValue`
renders non-finite numbers with `String` and keeps quotes on strings, which is
what makes `"600"` distinguishable from `600`.

**The PR description's test count is corrected again** (26 → 30) along with the
mutation table.

Mutation-checked, both new guards detected:

availability check removed -> 1 of 30 failed
  describeValue -> JSON.stringify       -> 1 of 30 failed
  (unmutated)                           -> 30 passed

The availability test asserts both directions: five contradictory configs throw,
and the protected-resource document (served in every mode) plus the enabled
forms are accepted, so the check cannot pass by over-rejecting.

e53f6a1bf0 test: await each strict refusal before starting the next (#2374)
The negative control started all three refused calls up front and
awaited them in turn, so the later rejections sat unhandled while the
first was awaited. Vitest reports that as an unhandled error and fails
the run even with every assertion passing — which is how local:gate
went red on a green suite. Start each call only when it is awaited.

2243849711 docs: bring comments and docs in line with -32021 and the Skills registry entry (#2374 review)
Round 2 found text the PR's own changes made stale: the fixture's
option doc, handler summary and repro step still promised -32601 on
modern; the core skills.ts header still said Skills must never be in
ADVERTISABLE_EXTENSIONS; the listSkills and getSkillResult comments
still said the codec validates none of a skills result, or that the
result arrives as the server sent it; and two tests and a docs step
still described Tasks as the only registry extension. The backfill
test also now asserts the Skills declaration is on by default.

07411047cc fix: answer a modern strict refusal with -32021 and cover the configs (#2374 review)
SEP-2575 gives a modern request that needs an undeclared capability its
own error, -32021 MissingRequiredClientCapability with
data.requiredCapabilities; -32601 there claims the method does not
exist. The strict fixture now throws MissingRequiredClientCapabilityError
on the modern leg and keeps -32601 on legacy, which has no such code.

The negative-control test now asserts the code and data per era, and a
new integration test resolves both checked-in strict configs through
loadConfig/resolveConfig, so a misspelled key or a dropped mapping
fails instead of leaving the manual fixtures permissive.

1d765b8af6 fix: declare the skills extension in the Inspector's client capabilities (#2373)
SEP-2133 negotiates an extension from both sides, and a strict server
refuses skills/* to a client that did not declare
io.modelcontextprotocol/skills. The Inspector called those methods
without ever declaring it. Add it to ADVERTISABLE_EXTENSIONS, on by
default, which also gives it a Server Settings toggle.

Give the composable test server skillsRequireClientExtension and two
per-era strict showcase configs, so a strict server is reproducible here.

Writing the modern-era test exposed two defects the existing suite hid:
its "modern" cases set protocolEra on the transport config, which
InspectorClient does not read, so they connected on legacy; and once
they really ran modern, every skills result failed, because the modern
schemas required resultType, which the SDK codec checks and then lifts
off before a caller schema runs. Connect with versionNegotiation and
assert the era, and drop the resultType requirement (and the two modern
schema variants it was the only difference in).

1fd1b15152 fix: enforce the challenge body cap per byte and never log cut-off JSON (#2297)
Copilot review round 2:

- Slice each chunk to the remaining budget, so one oversized chunk can no
longer carry the recorded body past CHALLENGE_BODY_MAX_BYTES.
- Drop the long-lived-stream exclusion from the challenge branch. It guards
an unbounded read and this one is bounded, so a 401 to an SSE GET now
  records its body too.
- Keep truncation out of the string that gets redacted. A cut-off body that
looks like JSON cannot be redacted (redactBody only masks JSON that
parses), so it is replaced by WITHHELD_TRUNCATED_JSON_BODY. Cut-off form
and plain-text bodies are redacted, then marked [truncated].

a7c4c5260e fix: bound the 401/403 body read so an unending body is released (#2297)
Copilot review round 1. With the tracker below the auth-challenge
interceptor, its background clone kept draining a 401 body after the
interceptor cancelled its own branch — so a body that never ended left the
connection live. Read a 401/403 body up front instead, capped at 64 KiB and
2s, and cancel the clone's reader when either bound is hit so the
interceptor's cancel releases the source. The body now lands on the entry
itself before the challenge is thrown.

Also cover the web path end to end: a streamable-http 401 on
/api/mcp/send reaches the event stream with its status and body.

4dc5eaa6bb fix(web): address Copilot review round 1 on public addresses (#1862)
- Never echo a refused value into a warning: credentials, query and
fragment are dropped, and an unparseable value is not shown at all.
- Do not adopt MCP_SANDBOX_FULL_ADDRESS / MCP_APP_ORIGIN_FULL_ADDRESS after
the EADDRINUSE fallback: the reverse proxy still routes them to the pinned
  port, which another process holds.
- Refuse a public app origin equal to any trusted ancestor in the controller,
where the real (possibly bind-derived, possibly fallback-port) sandbox
origin is known; config time could not see it.

af4b574234 fix: record an intercepted 401's status, headers and body (#2297)
The network tracker wrapped the auth-challenge interceptor, so a 401/403
never reached it as a response: the interceptor cancelled the body and
threw, and the tracker logged only the thrown error. NetworkEntry renders
its response section only when a status is present, so the body — and the
WWW-Authenticate resource_metadata and scope — were never shown.

Move the tracker below the interceptor so it records the real response and
clones its body before the interceptor cancels it, and stop awaiting that
cancel: with the tracker's clone as the other tee branch, the cancel settles
only once the clone reads to the end, which would hang on an unending body.

467c97307e fix: charge the fallback SKILL.md read to the catalog byte budget; review round 1 (#2294)
- A "dynamic" skill's only read is the fallback SKILL.md fetch, which was not
charged, so a catalog of dynamic skills never advanced catalogBytes and a
configured byte budget bounded nothing. Charge it like a manifest read.
- Add verifySkills cases for a configured byte budget and for dynamic skills.
- Wire onSkillCatalogLimitChange into the ServerSettingsForm story.
- Reword the new field descriptions, JSDoc and config table rows; rename the
route test to cover every invalid value it sends.

55db703196 feat: add --protocol-era launch flag for ad-hoc servers (#2208)
An ad-hoc --server-url / command launch always negotiated the legacy era,
because protocolEra was only settable per server in mcp.json. A wrapper
that mints a short-lived bearer token therefore had to write that token to
disk to exercise a server under auto or modern.

--protocol-era <legacy|auto|modern> now feeds settings.protocolEra in all
three clients through a shared parseProtocolEra coercer:

- CLI/TUI overlay it in loadServerEntries alongside --header, onto an
ad-hoc target and onto a --catalog/--config entry for that run.
- Web stamps it on the in-memory ad-hoc entry, which the backend lifts
into settings like headers; as with --header it is rejected alongside
--catalog/--config, but unlike --header it applies to stdio too.

12544d251c feat(web): configurable public addresses for the MCP Apps listeners (#1862)
Add MCP_SANDBOX_FULL_ADDRESS and MCP_APP_ORIGIN_FULL_ADDRESS so a reverse
proxy or ingress deployment can advertise the sandbox proxy URL and the
_meta.ui.domain app origin the browser actually reaches, instead of the
bind-derived http://localhost:<port> ones. The process still listens on
MCP_SANDBOX_PORT / MCP_APP_ORIGIN_PORT.

Both values are validated in public-address.ts and refused (warned, bind-
derived address kept) when malformed or when their origin collapses onto
the Inspector UI's (or, for the app origin, the sandbox's) — the MCP Apps
spec requires host != sandbox origin, and the single-hostname proxy layout
is exactly the one that breaks it. Plain http under an https UI is warned.

The sandbox proxy page's referrer check was a hardcoded
http://localhost|127.0.0.1 pattern no https embedder could match. It now
compares the referrer's parsed origin against an exact list injected by the
controller, derived from the same filtered allow-list as its frame-ancestors
header, with the old loopback check kept only as the no-list fallback.

d639ab268b docs: correct env-var reference per Copilot round 2 (#2365)

client configuration, so it no longer contradicts MCP_DEBUG.
- Document HOME / USERPROFILE as the base of every ~/.mcp-inspector

- SERVER_PORT is the sandbox fallback whenever MCP_SANDBOX_PORT is not
a valid port (unset, empty or invalid), not only when unset.
- MCP_INSPECTOR_OAUTH_STATE_PATH is read by the CLI and TUI only; the

528a37be38 fix: accept a path-less skill root URI in normalizeSkillUri (#2295)
`skill://data-analysis` has an authority and an empty path, which RFC 3986
permits, but the guard required a pathname starting with "/". A server echoing
the skill root back in a directory read was therefore labelled "outside this
skill" instead of "not a direct child". Opaque URIs (`skill:demo`) stay
rejected; a path-less root still names no skill file, so it fails every check
that needs one.

abc4967298 fix: address Copilot review round 4 on #2318
- fetchTracking: one non-throwing reporter fronts every stream update —
the open (inside the fetch wrapper), each coalesced count (from a

- rawWireRequest annotates a request timeout its transport's send
rejects with, so the browser's relay timeout on a raw-wire call reads
  like every other.
- RemoteClientTransport reports still-open streams closed on close(),
since the backend watcher's own close cannot reach a channel that the

ec09628705 fix: address Copilot review round 3 on #2318
- fetchTracking: the close report is guarded so a throwing listener
cannot become an unhandled rejection off the discarded watcher; a
bare CR that is the last byte of the stream terminates its event; a
moving event count is coalesced to one report per interval (default
250ms, 0 in tests), with the open and the close still immediate.
- MessageTrackingTransport rolls back a request whose signal was already
aborted before the send began, and suppresses the rollback only for an
abort that lands during the send.
- useTickingClock takes an `enabled` flag; Connection Info installs no
interval when there is no activity section.
- The diagnostics-callbacks test justifies its private-seam cast.

c565b56fcd fix: address Copilot review round 2 on #2318
- fetchTracking: media types and HTTP methods compare case-insensitively;
a `Request` input's own method is honoured; the SSE line scanner
accepts LF, CRLF and a bare CR, holding a trailing CR until the next
chunk decides whether it is half of a CRLF.
- MessageTrackingTransport does not report a send failure for a request
the caller aborted through `requestSignal`, and InspectorClient keeps a
request whose send failed with a request timeout — both are sent,
unanswered requests, which is the state to keep reporting.
- createTransportNode builds a fetch tracker when any tracking callback
  is supplied, not only `onFetchRequest`.
- RemoteClientTransport's relay wait expires with the SDK's own timeout
shape, so the web client's relay timeout is annotated like every other.

1a5dd6820d fix: address Copilot review round 1 on #2318
- fetchTracking: count NDJSON streams line by line instead of leaving
them at zero forever; justify the detached watcher promise; document
that a partial SSE block at end-of-stream is dropped, as the SDK's own
parser (no flush) and the SSE spec drop it.
- uncapturedBodyNote: case-insensitive content-type lookup, and a
stream label (SSE / NDJSON) for the Network badge.
- InspectorClient: `openedAt` is when the response headers arrived, not
when the GET went out; the snapshot copies its request records; a
request the transport failed to send is rolled back out of the
  unanswered set via a new `trackSendFailure` callback; a raw-wire
timeout is built as the SDK's own timeout shape and annotated the
same way, so callers see one kind of timeout.
- Remote session storage revives the nested `stream.closedAt` Date.
- Hook test models a legacy double with `Object.defineProperty`, not a
  double cast.

fb28b0fe64 test: address Copilot review — tighten progress-token guard and de-flake relay tests (#2028)
- progressTokenOf now delegates to the SDK's ProgressTokenSchema instead of a
bare typeof check, so fractional and past-MAX_SAFE_INTEGER numbers are

- Browser relay timeout tests use fake timers with advanceTimersByTimeAsync and
flush the SSE consumer between pushes, replacing real-sleep windows that a
  loaded runner could race (#1596).
- The log-only timeout test holds and awaits its rejection rather than
swallowing it in an empty catch.
- progressToken.test.ts gains a file header; the remote-session malformed-token

d57801d7b3 feat(core): report connection state on a request timeout (#2318)
A request timeout used to surface as a bare `Request timed out`. Every
fact needed to explain it was already in-process: what the client was
still waiting on, when it last heard back, and the state of the
standalone GET notification stream. The SDK's timeout now rejects with
all three, and the same snapshot is shown live in Connection Info and
on the Network entry for the stream.

- core/mcp/connectionDiagnostics.ts: the snapshot type, its one-line
description, and `annotateRequestTimeout`, which rebuilds the SDK's
per-request timeout with the state at that moment.
- InspectorClient decorates the SDK Client's `request` (the one funnel
  every verb goes through) so the annotation covers the whole surface;
tracks outstanding requests with their send time, the last response,
and the most recent long-lived transport stream; exposes
  `getConnectionDiagnostics()` and `connectionDiagnosticsChange`.
- fetchTracking watches a long-lived stream through a tee'd clone,
counting SSE events and reporting the close, via a new
`updateStream` callback wired through the node transport, the remote
session (`fetch_stream_update`), and the browser transport.
- FetchRequestLogState patches `entry.stream`; the Network entry's
placeholder reports the event count and open/closed state.
- Connection Info gains a Connection Activity section, ticking while
  open (`useTickingClock`).

cd31d76371 fix: reset the relay's request-response waits on progress notifications (#2028)
The web client drives its MCP Client through a two-hop relay
(RemoteClientTransport -> Node backend -> upstream transport). The relay
added two request-response waits that the direct transports don't have —
the backend's RemoteSession.waitForRequestResponse and the browser's
RemoteClientTransport.waitForSseResponse — and both were hardcoded to 60s
and blind to notifications/progress. The SDK Client's own request timeout
resets on progress (resetTimeoutOnProgress, which the Inspector enables),
but the relay's progress-blind waits fire first and shadow it, so a
long-running tool that reports progress is cancelled at 60s on the web
client alone while it completes over the CLI/TUI and other MCP clients.

Reset both relay waits on a notifications/progress whose progressToken
matches the pending request id, mirroring the SDK's resetTimeoutOnProgress.
A shared browser-safe progressTokenOf helper extracts the token. Log
messages (notifications/message, i.e. ctx.info) deliberately do not reset
the deadline, matching the SDK and every other client.

e641edeeab feat: bound connect attempts with a 30 s default connectionTimeout (#2320)
connectionTimeout defaulted to 0, which InspectorClient.connect() read as
"no bound at all" — so out of the box nothing the Inspector owns bounded a
connect attempt, and the only thing ending a hung handshake was the SDK's
60 s per-request timeout on initialize, reporting "Request timed out".

- Add DEFAULT_CONNECTION_TIMEOUT_MS (30000) to core/mcp/types.ts. An absent
value resolves to it on the client, on disk read, in the web form draft,
and in the CLI's header-only settings shell. An explicit 0 keeps its
documented meaning (no timeout; --connect-timeout 0) and is now persisted
so the opt-out round-trips; the default is the omit-sentinel, as for
  taskTtl.
- Key the post-timeout transport teardown to the timer actually firing, not
  to connectionTimeout > 0 — otherwise a non-zero default would tear down
every failed connect, including a recoverable 401 whose transport the
  auth recovery holds open.
- The timeout message names the bound and where to raise it: "Connection
timed out after N ms. To accommodate a slower server, you may increase
the timeout value in Server Settings."
- The CLI's UNREACHABLE classifier now matches that message.

b0391561a1 docs: address Copilot review round 1 (#1745)

  2.0.0 rather than 1.7.5.

a42d7fd99e refactor: drop the ext-apps SDK-v1 shims now that 2.0.0 peers on SDK v2
Every site tagged `ext-apps#702` carried a workaround for ext-apps
peering on the v1 SDK while the Inspector runs v2. With 2.0.0 the
package's `AppBridge` extends the v2 `Protocol`, takes the v2 `Client`
and `Implementation` directly, and registers its list-changed forwarding
on that client with `setNotificationHandler("notifications/…", handler)`,
so:

- core/mcp/apps.ts: `getToolUiResourceUri(tool)` takes the v2 `Tool`
without a cast; `UiMetaShape` is replaced by ext-apps' own
  `McpUiToolMeta` / `McpUiResourceMeta`, which resolve under NodeNext
  since ext-apps#705. `AppInfo.csp` / `.permissions` / `.visibility`
  take the named types too.
- core/mcp/inspectorClient.ts: `getAppRendererClient()` returns the SDK
client itself; the Proxy that translated the 1.x schema-first
  `setNotificationHandler(Schema, handler)` into the method-string form,
its `notificationMethodFromSchema` helper and its cached field are
gone. `AppRendererClient` is now `Client` rather than `unknown`.
- createAppBridgeFactory.ts: `new AppBridge(client, HOST_INFO, …)` with
no `as unknown as`; `resolveSourceUri` passes the tool straight through.
- AppRenderer.tsx: `sendToolResult(result)` — its params ARE the v2
  `CallToolResult` now.
- requestAppElicitation.ts: the double cast on the `elicitation/create`
send goes too — v2 `Protocol.request` takes the standard `Request`
shape, which `ElicitRequest` is. The helper itself stays: ext-apps#733
  is not in 2.0.0.
- core/mcp/extensions.ts: `MCP_APP_MIME_TYPE` re-exports ext-apps'
  `RESOURCE_MIME_TYPE` from `/app-bridge`; `UI_EXTENSION_KEY` stays
hardcoded because `EXTENSION_ID` is still `/server`-only in 2.0.0.

Tests: the Proxy-translation test is removed with the Proxy; the
`getAppRendererClient` tests assert the real `Client` instance and that
disconnect withdraws it; the `useInspectorClient` sentinel is a real
(unconnected) `Client`. Comments that cited ext-apps 1.7.5 now cite 2.0.0
