## Motivation and Context
This resolves the following build failure that occurs when using Ruby 3.1 with I18n 1.15.0:
```console
$ bundle exec rake
(snip)
/Users/koic/.rbenv/versions/3.1.5/lib/ruby/gems/3.1.0/gems/i18n-1.15.0/lib/i18n.rb:58:
in `config': undefined method `[]' for Fiber:Class (NoMethodError)
current = Fiber[:i18n_config] || self.config = I18n::Config.new
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
from /Users/koic/.rbenv/versions/3.1.5/lib/ruby/gems/3.1.0/gems/i18n-1.15.0/lib/i18n.rb:88:in `load_path'
```
https://github.com/modelcontextprotocol/ruby-sdk/actions/runs/27724973112/job/82025136923
According to the report in https://github.com/ruby-i18n/i18n/issues/735,
this issue has been fixed in I18n 1.15.1 and later.
However, the already released I18n 1.15.0 still triggers the build error.
While this could potentially be addressed in a better way on the I18n side,
this change updates the Gemfile to avoid using I18n 1.15.0, which is known to cause the issue.
## How Has This Been Tested?
The build error described above has been resolved.
## Breaking Changes
None.
The Streamable HTTP spec allows servers to respond with either
`application/json` or `text/event-stream`. The client previously
rejected the latter. Add SSE parsing via the optional
`event_stream_parser` gem (users add it to their Gemfile when their
server uses SSE), dispatch on the response Content-Type, and scan the
event stream for the first JSON-RPC response message.
Document the new optional dependency in both the README's HTTP
Transport Layer section and docs/building-clients.md.
No other Streamable HTTP features (202 handling, session IDs,
`connect`, DELETE termination) are included here; those will land in
follow-up PRs.

## Summary
When using browser-based MCP clients such as MCP Inspector, connections to
the example HTTP server failed due to two issues:
1. CORS preflight (OPTIONS) requests returned 405 Method Not Allowed,
causing browsers to block all cross-origin requests.
2. `Accept: */*` (commonly sent by browsers and fetch API) returned 406 Not Acceptable
because the transport required the Accept header to explicitly list `application/json`
and `text/event-stream`.
Add `rack-cors` middleware to the example HTTP servers so that preflight requests are handled correctly
and `Mcp-Session-Id` is exposed to browser clients. Also fix `validate_accept_header` in `StreamableHTTPTransport`
to treat `*/*` as satisfying all required Accept types.
Fixes#141.
## Repro Steps
### 1. Start the example server (Terminal 1)
```console
$ bundle exec ruby examples/streamable_http_server.rb
```
### 2. Start MCP Inspector (Terminal 2)
```console
$ npx @modelcontextprotocol/inspector
```
### 3. Open the Inspector Web UI (http://localhost:6274) in a browser
- Set Transport Type to "Streamable HTTP"
- Set URL to http://localhost:9393
- Disable the Authorization header toggle (the example server does not require authentication)
- Click "Connect"
Before this change, the connection fails due to CORS or 406 errors.
After this change, the connection succeeds and tools are listed.
These steps have been added to examples/README.md.
## Summary
Unlike applications, libraries provide value by remaining usable for a broad range of users,
even when that means supporting older Ruby versions beyond Ruby's own EOL timeline.
I maintain RuboCop, a Ruby linter. Because linters need to work across the ecosystem,
they often need to keep compatibility with older Ruby versions to some extent.
The trade-off is that the MCP Ruby SDK must remain compatible with Ruby 2.7.
However, given the ecosystem impact, supporting Ruby 2.7 is still worthwhile.
For example, bundled gems such as `csv` (Ruby >= 2.5), `bigdecimal` (Ruby >= 2.5), `json` (Ruby >= 2.7),
and `language_server-protocol` (Ruby >= 2.5) tend to keep compatibility with older Ruby versions.
Unlike dropping support, which imposes restrictions on users,
this change broadens compatibility and does not introduce breaking changes.
## Development Note
`rubocop-shopify` (2.18) supports Ruby 3.1+, and this PR does not change that.
Since RuboCop can configure the runtime Ruby version and the target Ruby version for analysis independently,
CI continues to run RuboCop on Ruby 4.0, while analyzing code with `TargetRubyVersion: 2.7`.
When setting `TargetRubyVersion: 2.7`, several RuboCop offenses were resolved.
Additionally, Sorbet-related libraries support Ruby 3.0+. Since these are not dependencies of the MCP Ruby SDK itself,
they are versioned and tested in the development Gemfile.
This adds automated deployment of a versioned API documentation landing
page using GitHub Pages. The landing page links to documentation hosted
on RubyDoc.info, the de facto standard documentation site for the Ruby
ecosystem. The landing page will update to reflect new releases.
Changes
-------
1. **Documentation generation script** (see `bin/generate-gh-pages.sh`)
Copies and commits documentation files to the gh-pages branch. The
script uses git worktrees to isolate the process from the main
workspace.
The script:
- Creates the gh-pages branch as an orphan branch if it doesn't exist
- Parses semantic versions from tag names, ignoring arbitrary
prefixes (e.g., tags `1.2.3`, `v1.2.3`, and `release-1.2.3` all
create `v1.2.3`)
- Determines the latest version using semantic version sorting
- Copies static Jekyll template files from `docs/` to the gh-pages
root (for the latest version only)
- Generates `docs/_data/versions.yml` with a list of all versions
for the Jekyll templates to consume
2. **Jekyll template files** (see `docs/` directory)
- `docs/_config.yml` - Jekyll configuration
- `docs/index.md` - Landing page template that links to all versions
on RubyDoc.info based on generated `docs/_data/versions.yml`
- `docs/latest/index.html` - Redirect page template that redirects
to the latest documentation on RubyDoc.info
3. **GitHub Actions workflow** (see `.github/workflows/release.yml`)
Added a `publish_gh_pages` job that runs after the `publish_gem` job
on release events. The job invokes the generation script with the
release tag name, then pushes the updated gh-pages branch to deploy
the documentation.
4. **CI validation** (see `.github/workflows/ci.yml`)
Added a `yard` job that runs YARD validation with `--no-output`.
This ensures YARD can successfully parse the codebase (without
generating output), catching documentation issues early in CI.
5. **YARD dependencies** (see `Gemfile`)
Added `yard` and `yard-sorbet` gems as development dependencies to
support documentation validation in CI.
YARD documentation is automatically generated and hosted by
RubyDoc.info when the gem is published to RubyGems.org.
6. **Documentation links** (see `README.md` and `mcp.gemspec`)
Added links to the published API documentation on RubyDoc.info in
the README and gemspec metadata.

Based on the following information, `rubocop-minitest` and `rubocop-rake` have been added
for development. Autocorrection has been applied for offenses detected by `rubocop-minitest`.
```console
$ bundle exec rake
(snip)
Running RuboCop...
Inspecting 40 files
........................................
40 files inspected, no offenses detected
Tip: Based on detected gems, the following RuboCop extension libraries might be helpful:
* rubocop-minitest (https://rubygems.org/gems/rubocop-minitest)
* rubocop-rake (https://rubygems.org/gems/rubocop-rake)
You can opt out of this message by adding the following to your config
(see https://docs.rubocop.org/rubocop/extensions.html#extension-suggestions for more options):
AllCops:
SuggestExtensions: false
```
If preserving the existing behavior is preferred, it is also possible to set `SuggestExtensions: false`.
