Add ajv as an explicit dependency in clients/web/package.json (was only
available transitively via @modelcontextprotocol/sdk). Add inline comment
on StdioServerConfig.type explaining the implicit-default contract and
its impact on switch narrowing.

clients/web/tsconfig.app.json's include pulls in ../../core/**/*.ts.
TypeScript module resolution from those files walks up from core/mcp/
looking for node_modules, which lands at the repo root. CI only ran
npm install inside clients/web/, so root node_modules was empty and
core/mcp/types.ts / elicitationCreateMessage.ts / taskNotificationSchemas.ts
failed to resolve @modelcontextprotocol/sdk/types.js and zod/v4
(locally the build worked because root had been manually installed).
Add an explicit root npm install step before the clients/web install.

Stands up the type-only prerequisites for the v2 UX component
interfaces refactor per specification/v2_ux_interfaces_plan.md.
Phase 0.1 — MCP SDK dependency:
- Add @modelcontextprotocol/sdk ^1.29.0 and zod ^4.3.6 to both the
root package.json and clients/web/package.json so component files
can import Tool / Prompt / Resource / Task / LoggingLevel / etc.
directly from the SDK.
Phase 0.2 — Inspector wrapper-types module:
- Create core/mcp/types.ts mirroring the type-only subset of v1.5's
core/mcp/types.ts: MCPServerConfig (discriminated union), ServerType,
MCPConfig, ConnectionStatus, StderrLogEntry, MessageEntry (Date
timestamps, not ISO strings), FetchRequestEntry(+Base), ServerState,
and the *Invocation types. Adds v2-only wrappers
InspectorResourceSubscription and InspectorServerJsonDraft.
- Add core/mcp/taskNotificationSchemas.ts for the Inspector-owned
notifications/tasks/list_changed signal (not in the SDK).
- Add core/mcp/elicitationCreateMessage.ts re-exporting ElicitRequest
and ElicitResult plus an InspectorPendingElicitation interface for
typing the pending-queue.
- Add core/json/jsonUtils.ts for the shared JsonValue / JsonObject
types used inside core/mcp/types.ts.
- Copy v1.5's clients/web/src/utils/jsonUtils.ts (JsonSchemaType) and
schemaUtils.ts (AJV-backed validators) verbatim so SchemaForm can
switch off its local JsonSchema type.
- Copy v1.5's clients/web/src/lib/types/customHeaders.ts verbatim for
ServerSettingsForm and the experimental panel.
- Add clients/web/src/types/navigation.ts with InspectorTab (UI-routing
concept, lives with the web client rather than in core/).
- Wire tsconfig.app.json + vite.config.ts with the @inspector/core/*
path alias so component files can import from core/ without
relative-path hell.
Phase 0.3 — Vet (likely) hedges in v2_ux_interfaces.md:
- Follow-up sweep on commit 2ef257da. Replaces the remaining
useMcpClient references with useInspectorClient, ties pending
elicitation / sampling callbacks to the in-InspectorClient queue
rather than a non-existent useElicitation / useSampling hook,
corrects Task references to the SDK type (not an InspectorTask
wrapper), corrects log hook wiring to useMessageLog, and strikes
all remaining v2-only hooks with explicit "no v1.5 analog"
annotations. grep "likely" specification/v2_ux_interfaces.md now
returns zero results.
Phase 0.4 — Local-redeclaration inventory:
- specification/v2_ux_interfaces_phase_0_4_inventory.md enumerates
every ad hoc local type (JsonSchema, LogLevel, TaskStatus,
PromptItem, ResourceItem, ToolListItemProps, RootEntry, KeyValuePair,
inline ConnectionStatus / transport unions) that will be replaced
in Phases 1–4, including the file it lives in, every site that
re-imports it, and the SDK / wrapper type that replaces it. Intended
for the Phase 0 PR description and as a running checklist during
the refactor.
Build state: npm run build / lint / format:check all pass in
clients/web.

Previous fix only added repository.url to the root package.json, but npm
publish --workspaces publishes each workspace using its own package.json.
The provenance check runs per-package, so each published workspace package
also needs repository.url to match the GitHub repo URL. Also adds type: "git"
to the root and directory fields to the workspaces for correct monorepo
linking on npm/GitHub.

- Upgrade npm to ^11.5.1 in the publish job (Node 22 bundles npm 10.x,
which lacks OIDC trusted publishing support)
- Drop NODE_AUTH_TOKEN / NPM_TOKEN secret in favor of OIDC
- Enable provenance attestation via NPM_CONFIG_PROVENANCE
The publish job already had id-token: write and registry-url configured.
* fix(server): sanitize error responses to prevent stack trace exposure
Replace raw error objects passed to res.json() with generic sanitized
messages so internal error details are not leaked to clients. Full
errors continue to be logged server-side via console.error.
Also adds a missing return in the /sse ECONNREFUSED branch, which
previously fell through and attempted a second response after headers
had already been sent.
Resolves CodeQL js/stack-trace-exposure alerts in server/src/index.ts.

* fix(server): address review feedback on error sanitization
- Sanitize /fetch route catch block: previously leaked error.message to
clients and silently swallowed errors with no server-side logging.
Now logs via console.error and returns a generic sanitized response.
- Replace JSON.stringify(error).includes("ECONNREFUSED") in the /sse
handler with a check against error.message and String(error.cause).
Error fields are non-enumerable so JSON.stringify(new Error(...))
produces "{}" — the old check only worked by accident when the error
happened to carry enumerable properties.

* fix: validate serverInfo.websiteUrl before rendering as link
A connected MCP server's serverInfo.websiteUrl was rendered directly
as an <a href> with no protocol check, allowing a malicious server to
supply javascript: (or other unsafe) URLs that would execute on click.
Run the value through validateRedirectUrl and, on failure, show a
warning-colored "Potentially malicious websiteURL field" message
instead of a link. The offending URL is still surfaced via tooltip
for inspection.

* fix: render websiteUrl warning below server name
Move the "Potentially malicious websiteURL field" message onto its
own row beneath the icon+name row so it doesn't crowd the server
name horizontally in the narrow sidebar.

The interfaces doc was produced by parallel research subagents that
were instructed to prefix uncertain hook names with (likely) rather
than fail to fill in a section. The result is 52 instances of "likely"
in v2_ux_interfaces.md, almost all attached to hook names that were
never cross-checked against v1.5/main. Several are actively wrong:
- useTools / usePrompts / useResources do not exist in v1.5; the
actual hooks are useManagedTools / useManagedPrompts /
useManagedResources.
- useTasks does not exist; v1.5 has useManagedRequestorTasks (and
Task itself is a raw SDK 1.x type, not an Inspector wrapper).
- useMcpClient does not exist; v1.5 has useInspectorClient.
- useLogs conflates three v1.5 hooks: useMessageLog, useStderrLog,
useFetchRequestLog.
- useHistory does not exist; v1.5 uses useMessageLog as the history.
- useElicitation / useSampling / useRoots do not exist as discrete
React hooks in v1.5; those flows are handled inside InspectorClient
via SDK request handlers.
- useServerCapabilities is not a separate hook; capabilities live on
useInspectorClient's result.
- Appendix A's "v1.5 bundles primitive logic in App.tsx" claim is
wrong about v1.5 in this repo; that's true of upstream
modelcontextprotocol/inspector v1.x mainline, not v1.5/main here,
which has the full core/react/* split.
Adds Phase 0.3 to walk every (likely) instance and either resolve it
against v1.5 source or strike it, with a confirmed rename table and
explicit definition-of-done (zero "likely" matches in
v2_ux_interfaces.md after the pass). Adds Risk #11 capturing the
underlying rule: hedging words next to type/hook/file claims must be
vetted before a planning doc ships.

Adds specification/v2_ux_interfaces_plan.md, the implementation plan
for the component interface refactor scoped in v2_ux_interfaces.md.
Uses the v1.5/main branch of this repo as the source of truth for
Inspector-owned wrapper types (MCPServerConfig, ConnectionStatus,
MessageEntry, FetchRequestEntry, StderrLogEntry, ServerState, the
*Invocation cache types) and pins @modelcontextprotocol/sdk at the
latest 1.x line (^1.29.0). Includes a name-mapping table that
translates the Inspector* placeholders in v2_ux_interfaces.md to
v1.5's actual type names.
Plan organizes the work into phases: foundations (SDK + wrapper
types), elements, group+screen feature clusters (folded together to
keep the build green at every commit), views, and a cleanup sweep.
Calls out the discovered ServerCard auto-connect useEffect violation
to fix in-place during the server cluster, and flags that Task is
already exported by the SDK 1.x so the InspectorTask wrapper framing
in v2_ux_interfaces.md is stale and needs a follow-up correction.

When the MCP server is at a non-root path (e.g. /mcp), path-aware
discovery (/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/mcp) may 404 if the
server only serves metadata at the root. The SDK's direct-mode
discovery already falls back to root-level URLs in this case. This
adds the same fallback to the proxy discovery functions.
Wraps every section of ServerSettingsForm (Connection Mode, Custom
Headers, Request Metadata, Timeouts, OAuth Settings) in a controlled
Mantine Accordion. The accordion is driven by new required
`expandedSections` / `onExpandedSectionsChange` props so the parent
owns expand/collapse state — consistent with the dumb-component
principle.
Adds a `variant?: "default" | "subtle"` prop to ListToggle. In subtle
mode it renders as an ActionIcon with `variant="subtle"`, `color="gray"`,
and a 16px icon so it visually matches Mantine's CloseButton in modal
headers (transparent until hover).
Adds a WithSettingsModal story on UnconnectedView that presents the
form inside a Mantine Modal with a custom three-column header: subtle
ListToggle on the left (expands/collapses all sections at once),
"Server Settings" Title centered, CloseButton on the right.

Adds specification/v2_ux_interfaces.md, a plan for aligning the web
client's dumb components with the MCP schema (2025-11-25) and the
Inspector core hook layer. The document inventories every component in
clients/web/src/components/ (elements, groups, screens, views),
records current props, identifies MCP schema touch points, proposes
target prop interfaces, and maps callbacks to the v1.5 core hooks that
will supply them. Includes an appendix on how v1.5 core returns a
deliberate mix of raw SDK types and Inspector-owned wrappers.
Also threads an "Interfaces" link into the submenu of all v2_ux*
specification documents so the set cross-links consistently.

Replaces inline style and opacity prop on ServerCard with a new
'disabled' variant on the Card theme, per AGENTS.md rules against
inline styles on components. Also picks up prettier formatting on
ResourcesScreen.

- ToolControls and PromptControls now manage searchText as local state
and filter their lists internally (matches on name + title/description)
- Removed searchText/onSearchChange props from ToolsScreen, PromptsScreen,
and their associated stories
- HistoryListPanel search now also matches against stringified response
payloads

- Rename StatusIndicator to ServerStatusIndicator across all files
- ServerCard: add activeServer/onSetActiveServer props for coordinated
connection flow — when a card's toggle is switched on, it sets itself
as the active server, shows "Connecting" status, and dims all other
cards (opacity + pointerEvents none + inert for full keyboard blocking)
- ServerListScreen: manage activeServer state internally, pass to cards;
switch to full-width layout with 3-column grid and scrollable card area
- ServerCard: move "Test Client Features" dropdown above ContentViewer
with min-height row for consistent card heights
- ToolResultPanel: move Clear button to top-right header row
- ToolDetailPanel: right-align Execute Tool button, size md, not full-width
- ListChangedIndicator: bump Refresh button to size sm
- ToolsActive story: expand to 30 tools with titles
- UnconnectedView stories: all servers disconnected, remove Connecting story

The `redirect_uris` getter used `this.redirectUrl`, which is overridden
by `DebugInspectorOAuthClientProvider` to return `/oauth/callback/debug`.
This caused the `Set` deduplication to collapse both URIs into one,
so DCR only registered `/oauth/callback/debug`. The normal connection
flow then sent `/oauth/callback` in the authorize request, which was
never registered — causing spec-compliant OAuth servers to reject it.
Use the base callback URLs directly instead of the polymorphic getter
so both URIs are always registered regardless of which subclass
initiates DCR.
Fixes#930
ResourceControls now manages its own search state internally and filters
all three accordion sections (URIs, Templates, Subscriptions) by name
and URI. Added ListToggle to expand/collapse all sections. Moved Export
JSON and Clear All buttons from HistoryControls sidebar to the
HistoryListPanel header for better proximity to the data they act on.
